307 HDi 2.0 SW 136 - Noisy Starter Motor Since Yesterday Morning 31 Dec 2012 (Forum)
Ended up spraying all the latches with copious amounts of WD40 and sprayed some into the door lock too and the problem seems to have gone away but I'm wondering about this being due to a weak battery which is also causing the starter problem? Is it possible that a weak battery is the reason for the starter motor not engaging fully? Sorry about the long post but I don't want to buy a new battery and then find out I need to change the starter motor, or vice versa. -
Peugeot 106 - Coil Pack Problem 17 May 2012 (Forum)
Hi I have a 106 Xsi. A few weeks ago after being left standing for a week the car practically had a flat battery and wouldn't turn the engine. I took the battery out charged it and put it back the following day and now the car won't start. It turns over but won't fire. At first I thought the immobiliser had kicked in somehow. -
Electric car technology 21 Feb 2012 (Forum)
Methods of electric propulsion are being trialed in race cars now. It is even proposed to build the battery into the body panels. It is also proposed to incorporate induction coils into track surfaces to provide power to the cars and charge batteries ‘on the go’. The cars will have a matching coil to feed the battery charger, and the efficiency of transfer is said to be over 90%. -
VW 1.2 petrol Polo - Throttle Body Fault 31 Oct 2010 (Forum)
Not having owned a 'modern' car before, I wasn't used to all the electronic management systems and wasn't surprised by the intermittent whirring noise from the engine compartment. However (it's my wife's car) when I got a call to say the battery was flat, I started to wonder. Knowing that it probably wouldn't be a dud battery, more likely a combination of the exterme cold weather we had last winter and short journeys with everything switched on, I jump started it and hoped for the best. -
BMW 3-Series E30 (1983 - 1991) - 1989 1990/6 Fuel injection air valve running with 10 Nov 2008 (Forum)
You can hear a faint buzzing noise and when you touch it, it is vibrating gently. If I leave the battery connected between runs, this fault soon flattens the battery. The car has been off the road for about six months. In that time, the battery was disconnected. When I came to reconnect the battery, this symptom manifested itself. -

Hybrids - best or worst of both worlds? 2 Nov 2021 (Forum)
Typically hybrid cars have very small batteries. They can go very little distance (often less than 2 miles) on EV mode, if speed is typically less than 20 MPH. On the flip side weight of battery + hybrid equipment is about carrying 2 extra passengers. -

If he tries again, sometimes it will start without problems - other times he has to remove the key and try again and it works. I did think that maybe the battery needed changing in the plip but it seems to unlock the car at quite a distance, so i think the battery is ok. Anyone out there have any idea what it could be? Thanks Robin the Technician -

Kangoo Radio Code Reset 17 Apr 2007 (Forum)
Not sure what model it is, but it preset buttons in a block on right and does have the remote paddles on the steering column. It worked rather well until I inadvertantly disconnected the battery thanks to Renault battery clips, and it now needs the code inserted. I believe I know the code, and can get the set to prompt ( 0000 ) and worked out which button changes the digit that flashes, but cannot fathom out how to increment & set each number. -
Golf mk2 GTD rev counter problems 16 Jan 2007 (Forum)
My 1991 Golf Mk2 GTD (1600cc Turbo Diesel) has rev counter, when I accelerate the counter drops to Zero, and will not go over 5ooo which is the tick over, regardless of what I do, the other day the battery was flat although the car is used every day. No warning lights were illuminated on the dash. Can anyone tell me how the rev counter works ? Is it linked to an electrical fault Feels like the battery isnt getting enough charge Car runs great otherwise Any help gratefully recieved
