Jaguar X-Type 2004 175k - Fracked in France - Breakdown Cover Update 8 Jan 2018 (Forum)
My local indy fixed it in less than an hor. Last year I paid £75 for breakdown cover. I shudder to think what that episode in France cost them. Today, I had a renewal notice. £73.95 including European cover. I have, of course, renewed it immediately, with gratitude and with fulsome praise. -
Buying a left hand drive car over here to drive ov 28 Mar 2001 (Forum)
We could then import them into France. I have a feeling there must be thousands of people who, moving from the continent, end up having to sell their cars cheaply over here. But where do I find them? Also what are the import conditions into France? -

Where are new cars built? 18 Aug 2004 (Forum)
I thought it would be nice to know where all cars in the past and present were built, and what engines (if not their own) they use(d) with specific dates. For example, the Toyota Yaris is being built in france. Or that the Avensis diesel uses a peugeot engine and is built in france (I think). -

Tour de France and disruption 3 Oct 2014 (Forum)
This weekend the Tour de France starts in Yorkshire. First stage Saturday, second on Sunday. With usual failure to think through the consequences, local authority has declared that no parking will be allowed on any road within 100 yards or so of the route, from 7 pm Friday till 7.30 pm Sunday. -
Driving in France - Beware 26 Jul 2013 (Forum)
I've just come back from a great holiday in France - however I witnessed a Gendarme sting exercise in a major service station whilst driving south between Calais and Rouen. There were a few blue Gendarme cars/vans and a double decker car transporter full of cars - some with roof boxes etc.. and as far as I could see as I nervously drove past ALL the cars were from the UK. -

Headlight adjustment 24 Jun 2002 (Forum)
There are 5 settings to compensate for load, but no sign of any way to adjust the left -right alignment. Also does the law require you to carry spare bulbs in France, or is it just advised? -
n/a - Petrol/diesel can be hard to find in France. 30 May 2016 (Forum)
To stop repeat fuel buying stations have disabled the 24 hour pumps as well. Best advice is to fill before you get on the ferry and top up as you go in France wherever you can find fuel on your journey. Diesel is the first fuel to run out at fuel stations, about 70% of cars are diesel over here. UL95 seems to be more readily available The shortages have been worse in the north and north-west but are spreading south. -
Bringing a used car back from France 30 Jun 2005 (Forum)
Her mother has given my wife her 1992 Citroen AX and we have processed the correct forms from the prefecture in Lyon, France for exporting the vehicle. It has temporary plates that we have been told can be on the car for a period of one month before we register the vehicle in the UK. Problem 1 The car needs to be insured for me to get it from France, but no insurance company will insure the vehicle until it is on UK soil. -

renault scenic knock 23 Aug 2004 (Forum)
My scenics developed a knock, I think is coming from the front end, it only occurs when I'm accelerating round a corner, it happens turning either left or right, driving in a straight line is no problem. I have just come back from France having covered 1800 miles, the noise was there as we get to France but has not got worse during that time, the car is 1998 model & has done just under 60'000 miles, any ideas please.
