Ford Fiesta EcoBoost 1.0 64-plate - Fiesta EcoBoost going into limp mode 2000rpm 6 Apr 2018 (Forum)
During acceleration (from about 2500 rpm upwards) there is sometimes hesitancy in its power delivery that feels like misfiring. This sometimes, but not always, leads to the engine putting itself into some kind of safe mode where it limits the rev range strictly to 2000rpm. The problem usually happens when it is fully warm, often about 15 minutes into a journey. -
Insurance, remarkable value for money 24 Jan 2018 (Forum)
Will the state, for instance, get round to invoicing the insured held to blame for state (police, coroner, hospital etc) costs for accidents where fatal and serious injuries result leading to apparently huge £1m+ costs? if the state did that could be a game changer, or does the state do that already? -
New Classic Cars 21 Jan 2018 (Forum)
Which cars would you like to see built again? I am certain that other manufacturers will follow the lead of JLR and Aston Martin. Ferrari Dino? Lambo Miura? Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing? BMW 3.0CSL? Porsche 911? What do you reckon? -
Fiesta Zetec 02 - Intermittent Loss Of Power 13 Jun 2017 (Forum)
As soon as I'm able to pull over, turn engine off and back on the fault clears. My brother who is very handy along with advice from a mechanic has replaced the plugs, leads and coil pack to no avail. I'm at the end of my tether now, doing as little mway driving as possible which is no good. I understand it's a common fault and people pay out a lot to try to eliminate the cause, I have to be honest I'm now considering getting rid of the car but this frustrates me as it is otherwise a good runaround for me. -
1994 Opel Astra Convertible 1.6 8v - Battery Died. Wont Start after Jumping 3 Apr 2016 (Forum)
It started fine earlier and I wanted to clean it out as previous owner had a dog and it was full of hair. no offence to anyone just wanted to clean it lol. had the ignition on for a bit of radio whilst doing so and didn't think about the battery like a fool. so anyway, when I went to start it to move it back on my drive, it cranked over and slowly died. put some jump leads from my van to the astra ( the right way) and it just cranks of absolutely fine but will not fire up. has anyone any ideas what might need resetting or something that could of tripped when the battery died. it just doesn't want to fire up at all but will crank over fine or is there a set procedure to starting after battery has died or been replaced? -
Skoda Roomster - VW Recall list 20 Oct 2015 (Forum)
When running in non cheat mode after recall i.e. after being 'Mullered' will the emissions require endless servicing and at whose cost I would like to see full disclosure of the technical issues reported by motoring press and not be fobbed off by VW reflashing their box leading to lower economy. I would like to see published the before and after dyno readings and be compensated for any lower fuel economy and of course loss in value imcreased servicing costs. -
TDI, GDI - Death of the diesel? 21 Sep 2015 (Forum)
While these engines have been around for several years now, car manufacturers have been given until 2017 to introduce filters. Great to see the US take the lead in things environmental. We Europeans should join in and help force our car manufacturers to clean up their act. And VW is probably not the only culprit around..... -
Ford Fiesta - Ford Fiesta 1.3 Acceleration Problems 8 Sep 2015 (Forum)

Vauxhall Corsa D 56 Plate - ECU Problems 22 Jun 2015 (Forum)
In the 2 years I've had it, it has started and run every time without failure a few times the battery has gone flat, but always started with jump leads. -
Anti government rant about water 29 Jun 2014 (Forum)
I don't know what they did with all the money everyone pays in tax, they did not even pave the road that leads to where I work. Romania has very low wages and more expensive (second hand) cars than western europe and definatly more expensive than the uk, because you have to pay a huge tax when you bring a car from outside RO or you buy a romanian car that was not sold after 2007. -
Ford Focus Zetec 2008 - Does 3 months warranty from dealer cover faulty AC 11 Jun 2014 (Forum)
Can you let me know what you think and maybe if you could throw in a few lines that I can use if he tries to lead me astray? -
VW Bora '02' - Keeps cutting out 14 Aug 2013 (Forum)
I cannot jump start the car and have to turn the ignition off and then restart the car. It starts first time leading me to believe that it is not fuel related. I have had it in a number of garages and they cannot find the fault this includes the main dealer who had it for two days. -
Renault Clio II (2001 - 2007) - 02 1.2 intermittent starting problem 19 Dec 2012 (Forum)
First I fitted a new battery - although old one seemed OK - Next fitted new plugs (Despite huge tool kit, had to buy special spanner -Those Frenchies!) Next stop was new coil/leads from Renault dealer. All has made no difference. Usually starts instantly, but then a couple of days elapse and my daughter explains that she has spent about 15 minutes trying to start it. I'm afraid that if 'we' book it into the Renault main dealer they won't find anything wrong, or charge for unnecessary work/parts, the same old fault appearing a few days later. -
Chrysler Grand Voyager - is it ecu 15 Aug 2012 (Forum)
on arrival the battery was flat???? so my pal pulled his car up ...and during the banter whilst connecting the leads..they were connected the wrong way around... fro about 30 sec or so...and melted them.. now car will not start..all elecs work and dash lights come on immobiliser works bleep on lock and double locks and light flashes. all seems as it should... -
FIAT Punto II (1999 - 2006) - Fitting new dip beam headlight bulbs 1 Aug 2012 (Forum)
Its a five minute job on both sides done this way. You need a 10mm spanner and perhaps needle nosed pliers to pull the electrical lead off the bulb. Best to check headlight alignment afterwards The Mk2b looks easier than the Mk2 - it uses rubber `caps` over the bulb insertion apertures and nothing needs to be undone. -
audi A6 idle juddering 20 Jun 2012 (Forum)
need advice on my A6 2.4 auto 1997 . about 2 months ago it had to taken to a audi dealer as it would not start after left unused for 2 weeks.not battery problem.the dealer said there was fuel flooding and changed all sparks and add fuel treatment. start ok since but had trouble with the engine juddering at idle espescially when climate control on and using the brakes. brought it back to dealer and they changed a faulty spark lead. some improvment but still not completely gone. third time they diagnosed a faulty valve timer and changed it at total of £370!!!and guess what ? yup ! made absolutely no difference. interestingly whenthe engine is cold it runs smooth but starts after driving a few minutes and also after awhile some noticeable judder when accelerating as well though not as bad as idle .any idea before it has to go back to that dealer ...i amfast losing faith and money..incidently as they repalced a nonfaulty component are they obliged to omit the charge for further work? -
S-Max v VW Passat 3 Apr 2012 (Forum)
I like the look of the S-Max and think it's the more practical of the two but I'm afraid I have never liked the Ford brand but equally, I am prepared to take the risk. The running costs does worry me though. The Passat is in the lead at the moment especially as VW appear to have rectified earlier problems, and do have a better build quality. But would I be limilited with the space, although the boot is HUGE. The S-Max on the other hand, appeals due to the 3 full size seats in the middle row, and I have said to the wife that she could sit between our two boys in their car seats and entertain them on long journeys - which we do. -
BMW? in the market for another European car co. 23 Feb 2012 (Forum)
It was confirmed that one of the six or seven bidders was a European automaker based out of Munich, which leads many to believe that it is BMW since the two firms once signed an engine purchasing agreement back in 2010. It would be mighty interesting if BMW is able to come out of this one to not only continue producing Saab vehicles, but using their platforms for their own models and even MINI ones. -
Ford Ka - Ford Ka 1.3 Endura - One oily spark plug - Help!! 1 Dec 2011 (Forum)
It had a misfire issue which after a set of plugs and leads, went away. 3 of the 4 spark plugs snapped off in the head, meaning I had to get them out using a torx driver. This was ok but it resulted in debris falling into the cylinders. I used a magnet and turned the engine over by hand to try and clear the cylinders out. -
Ford Focus - Difficult first start 20 Sep 2011 (Forum)
You stop the engine straight away and turn the ignition again, the engine starts instantly. I changed the spark plugs and leads about 2 years ago and it didn't help at the time. Now back to the challenge! We got the car serviced for brake fluid and general look around the vehicle... the mechanics changed the sparkplugs again, saying they were black.
