Citroen ZX (1992 - 1998) - 1991 1.9i petrol Engine problems 2 Jun 2008 (Forum)
The car has been in the garage, looked at by the RAC several times, and I have had a mobile mechanic look at it. No one can find the fault. The mobile mechanic put an indicator box on one of the plug leads, and earth, the car started and ran until the engine was turned off, there were sparks jumping across the coil leads to ground, replaced the coil and amplifier, engine will not start, had the ECU checked by a garage, 14 faults registered, sent ECU away to be checked, OK no problem with the ECU. -
Corolla battery/alternator ?? 3 Apr 2007 (Forum)
I don't have low charge lights on when I am driving. If I use a voltmeter to test the battery :- (A) Do I need to disconnect the leads from the terminals first (B) what voltage should Iexpect across the terminals (no load) To test the alternator (A) How do I get the test-leads onto the output, as there seems to be just a multiuplug connection - do I have to disconnect this or is there a terminal exposed somewhere I can get the probe/croc-clips of the voltmeter on to ? -
Crash who should pay? 10 Jun 2004 (Forum)
I was recently involved in an accident, the situation is this, near where I live is an alleyway that crosses the road, there is no restrictions in terms of speed or barriers to stop someone from riding their bike from the alleyway on one side of the road to the other side, on this particular day three kids (about 12 or 13 years old) were chasing each other (their words) and the lead rider failed to stop for the road (again in their words) fortunately, because of the road layout I was driving slowly, however the lead rider ran into the nearside front of the car, the bike pedal putting a hole in the bodywork near the fog light, the repair bill is in the £400 to £500? -
astra brake light problem 23 Oct 2003 (Forum)
Can anyone suggest a solution to my problem with the brake lights on my son's 1.6 P reg Astra premier, Im minding the car for him whilst he's working away, It,s not getting a lot of running coupled with me being away on holiday, when I came back and tried to start It the battery was'nt up to the job, now normally I would just put the jump leads on it but I'd had this gadget in the boot for ages unused that works by transfering power via the cigar lighter sockets, the Idea is to just plug in and wait for enough power to flow into the duff battery, anyway It did'nt work and so resorted to the trusty jump leads, the problem now is that the brake lights won't go out as soon as the ignition is turned on, my own theory is that it may have blown a diode allowing power to flow from another source and feed the brake lights, but where are they located and what do they look like? -

Any - Dog in Car 19 Aug 2017 (Forum)
We were approached by a smiling Policewoman the other week in Dover docks (just by outbound passport control) who informed us that "It is an offence to have any unattached animal in a car." SWMBO was sitting in the back seat with Blodwen on a lead. It was sid with a smile and we were waved on. Hastily bought 2 dog seat belt attachments... -

Peugeot 407 - Manual boost controller install/Peugeot 407 2.0HDI 20 Apr 2016 (Forum)
If I fit a manual turbo boost controller, can I connect the hose leading to the controller to the large pipe just before the intercooler rather than to the turbo itself, as the turbo is totally inaccessible ? Would it still work? -

Traffic Cameras 17 Feb 2009 (Forum)
And that they are not revenue raising. Well if that's the case, why don't the government introduce countdown markers leading up to them, thus preventing sudden breaking, and making drivers aware that the cameras are being approached. Seems fair and logical. -
Is CB Radio still being used? 4 Jan 2009 (Forum)
Must be years since I last saw a car equipped with CB Radio, in any country, not just the UK. Which leads me to wonder... Will it ever be as popular as it was in the 80s? Are CB and ham radios covered by the same legislation as mobile phones? (i.e. fines for using one while driving?) -
Driving through puddles. 4 Dec 2008 (Forum)
Driving through puddles - is it: o - A good thing, 'cos it washes muck off the underneath of the car; o - A bad thing, 'cos it leads to a build-up of muck under the car. Hm? I'd tend to go for the former, especially if it's been raining enough to wash all the flippin' salt off the road - but ICBW. -

Inside of '95 Cavalier smells of petrol. 15 Apr 2007 (Forum)
HJ says, in his CBC breakdown "Plastic fuel filler pipe between cap and tank can develop hairline cracks leading to petrol fumes entering the cabin when the tank pressurises". Are there any other causes of (strong) petrol smells in these cars (2.0 ecotec hatchback)? Is there a DIY remedy? -

Citroen Saxo stutters 14 Jan 2006 (Forum)
I was told to change the spark plugs and I did, but it is still acting the same way. My next action is the spark plugs leads or maybe the coil. Apparently my mechanic says this is common with the Saxo. Any suggestion from anyone? Bobby
