  I also do not agree that you have incurred any losses since you admitted yourself that this particular vehicle “is the cheapest in the country right now” and would sell again easily. Please comply with your legal obligations and return my deposit in full, otherwise I will have no hesitation in enforcing my consumer rights through the Small Claims Court.

  They have declared the vehicle not fit for purpose in their write up. I want to reject vehicle under the 30 day consumer protection laws but dealer says this is wear and tear. I’ve only had it 10 days and nothing’s happened to it in that time. This car seems to be unviable to my mind but I can tell this dealer might not do the right thing.

  The car had been serviced prior to sale and I was assured by the dealer I would have no immediate costs to pay out on the car.  There was no warranty but he assured me I had my consumer rights. I contacted the dealer regarding the fault.  I explained I had two quotes, £205 and £200 + VAT, and asked him to pay for me to have it repaired locally.  The dealer stated two things.

  I have gone back to the seller with this news and he claims that when he got the car he took the MOT as gospel... however, he has ended up selling me a car that is currently unroadworthy!! I paid over £5k for this car so I am keen to know what my rights are as a consumer. And if the MOT guys claim that the car was fine when they did the MOT 6 weeks ago, should I suspect that the guy who sold me the car has altered it before he has sold it onto me (although I appreciate that may be difficult to prove) Please help :(

  Hello I'm considering buying a car from a dealer 120miles away & have some concerns.  If a fault appears within the consumer rights 2015 timescale, who would be responsible for the cost of transporting the car back to the supplying dealer? I have to confess, I am very apprehensive about dealing with the business as from communication so far they seem like the type for whom "after sales" is a swear word, but that seems to be quite common at the cheaper end of the market.
