  In dull conditions, the current is much less, typically 10 to 20 milliamps. These currents are surely much too low to have any noticeable effect on a car battery. Discuss.

  One of my work-mates has a early 90's 1.6 Primera. Last night, he removed the battery to charge it, but when it was re-fitted this morning the car will not start. The engine is spinning over on the starter but will not fire, and yes there is petrol in it. Any ideas anyone???

  I have a Chrysler Grand Voyager XS which is suffering from this problem covered previously on this site about eating batteries. The batteries hold their voltage but the CCA gets screwed for some reason. In my last voyager which was not a grand version I put a Bosch S4 096 which lasted until I scrapped the vehicle.

  The fuse box in the engine bay has a large live terminal, can I use that to connect a spare battery and earth to a clean point in the engine bay?   I do have an 'old' tracker fitted to my other car (MX5, connected to permanent +12v) but that plus the alarm will deplete the car's battery within 5 days. However, the MX5's battery is a fairly puny gel type, so it's not surprising. Maybe a normal wet-cell battery will do better ? Thanks Frank

  Both keys were acting up (requiring several presses/being very close to the car) when locking/unlocking remotely. So I replaced the battery in both myself. The key I usually use (and had it's battery replaced during at least 1 service) is fine. But the 'spare' was probably on it's original battery and possibly got completely flat. This still dosn't work even with a fresh battery.
