  • Peugeot 206 1.6 hdi - DPF Replacement Question 2 Apr 2013 (Forum)
It just occured to me that a couple of weeks ago I got an anti-pollution fault which I checked out as being high voltage on the glow plugs - something which I read was required for a regen on the DPF. So, my question is, could that be the reason why the DPF is reading that it needs unblocking?  Could it be such a simple thing that changing the glow plugs and allowing it to regen would solve my problem?

  • DPFs - how to tell if they are working? 3 Jan 2010 (Forum)
A curiousity based question rather than anything please. I've recently aquired a car equipped with a DPF. Can't say I've noticed its presence other than that unlike any previous diesel car I've had it doesn't seem to smoke even briefly under load/high revs. I do use it for regular long trips which I understand suits the DPF process but I was just wondering how I would know if it was functioning properly ?
  • "DPF fluid is low, fill up" - Peugeot 508 Woes 6 Jan 2020 (Forum)
So it went into Peugeot dealers with a quote to fill tank and reset the tank    6 hours later and they tell me i need:- A windscreen, a clutch, a tyre, a car battery, a key battery, front brakes (only done 12,000 miles ago), and other bric-a-brac However the DPF is FUBAR and they wont fill the DPF fluid tank  Eventually they get 1ltr in but wont "bother" resetting it...........£180   Ive the whole printout    Tonight a local mechanic does a diagnostic to find NO error codes but the following for the tank, P1445, P15B3 and P1446 which indicate a filling issue but he has never seen them before but he states the DPF is NOT blocked Another source informs me the tank weighs itself to monitor how much DPF fluid is in the tank and this could be an issue...
  • Volkswagen Passat (2005 - ) - 2007 170 PDi - Is my DPF blocking up? 17 Jan 2009 (Forum)
(I'm not sure if a sudden drop in MPG indicates this burn-off process occurring?) Does the engine measure the pressure across the DPF? Thanks for your help.
  • DPF....Bypass? 30 Aug 2008 (Forum)
Now in my ignorance i am assuming that the large cat like bulge in the downpipe of the exhaust system of a modern DPF equipped diesel car is in fact the DPF. If its not tell me i'm a berk, everyone else does...;) If thats not the case, and its a diesel cat, where is the dpf situated? Whats to stop someone doing the same with their diesel exhaust and fitting a by pass pipe eliminating the DPF?
  • BMW X5, Mercedes ML, Porsche Cayenne - 4x4s with no DPF? 18 Mar 2011 (Forum)
Diesel obviously offers some MPG and residual value advantages, but the risk of turbo and injector issues along with the dreaded DPF clogging. Does anyone know when BMW X5, Mercedes ML, Porsche Cayenne etc got DPFs. Will there be someearlier years that did not get this technological "advance"? Any suggestions appreciated along with views on which makes the best used buy.

  • Volvo V50R design 2.0 D - DPF fault took 51 weeks to rectify cost £8.5k 11 Dec 2017 (Forum)
For your info V50 owners. Try to make this short. Fault was DPF - soot filter indicated. Took to local garage. First - regen. Came up again. Garage took to Volvo to confirm DPF required replacing which they agreed. DPF replaced (euro parts) . Fault codes still indicated.
  • Jaguar XF - DPF full, again! 1 Apr 2016 (Forum)
They had it for another day, couldn't find any leak but did think a pipe was a bit kinked so supported it with a tie wrap. They cleared the DPF and I got the car back after handing over £60 for the new exhaust brackets. Today 26th March the damn DPF red alarm is back on. I'm really begining to wonder if they actually replaced the DPF in the first place.
  • Mazda 5 2.0D sport '06 27000k - Mazda 5 DPF Flashing, but no power loss 19 Aug 2013 (Forum)
Yesterday after going round a sharp left bend in the road (probly way too fast) the DPF light started to flash, so rang my machanic friend up who said take it for a blast on the motorway to cycle it & clear out the DPF which I did (kept it about 3000rpm for 1/2 hr) but light was still flashing.

  • ford focus estate 1.6tdci(110) - dpf change 13 Feb 2012 (Forum)
My 2006 focus is due for its 6 yr service and the Ford agent tells me that the DPF should be replaced at a cost of several hundred pounds. The car has only done 55k as opposed to the usual 75k or thereabouts. Is it really necessary to re;lace at this stage.
  • DPF-Short trips-alternative solutions 14 Aug 2008 (Forum)
As Screwloose outlined yesterday. DPF and short trips don`t go well together. What`s the answer for those of us still running diesels without DPF? Hold on to the current car? even taking an approach that would see a major expense such as a new engine- or other several thousand pound repair- preferable to a new car with DPF?
  • Any - Which car - no DPF? 21 Mar 2013 (Forum)
My preference may be the mondeo as I hear very good reviews, but DPF's are making me think twice.
  • Renault Clio - dpf cleaning on a renault clio regeneration 7 Sep 2021 (Forum)
We Have a 2017 Renault Clio 1.5 diesel with 26,000 miles on the clock which we bought new. The car isn't giving us any issues but I do read about the dpf and the damage that short journeys can do to the dpf. What is the best way to give the filter a good clean out?  I have read that the Clio has a regeneration system that will clean out the filter on a long run, but unsure how this works.
