Toyota Camry - Toyota Camry '95 Drivers Elec. Window problem. 27 Jul 2010 (Forum)
Can't find sight nor sound of any Camrys in local breakers, or motorfactors stocking said bit/s, so was wondering if the prices quoted sounded about right for the job, and also if the motors themselves are prone to failure? Making it wiser albeit wallet-denting to replace both? The technician at the Toyota dealer stated that it's a rather difficult, fiddly, time consuming job to change, hence the price quotes, and that it was easier to just replace the entire assembly, which of course left me feeling daunted to take on the task myself only having replaced (many eons ago) the window-gear in an old Pug 405 I had. -

Homes being lost to home tax liens 18 Dec 2020 (Forum)
For properties with taxes in arrears, according to Fox Business, local governments will hold tax lien auctions. Bidders compete by pledging to collect the taxes for the lowest rate or to pay the most for the rights to the home win the right to the lien. Tax liens, according to Bloomberg, had attracted numerous investors, including some very large institutional investors such as JPMorgan Chase, but many have since exited. -
VW Golf TDI Diesel - Help - recurring problems since purchase. 26 Oct 2016 (Forum)
I am absolutely fed up with it, because I cannot keep getting it repaired everytime it happens so therefore it's not fit for purpose at all. I've been looking at the Consumer's right act 2015, so I can request for full refund but I worry that I will be out of pocket because the first half is deposit and the latter is finance. I worry if the car dealer will fob me off as I need a car to commute to work. -
Buying advice for a newbie (& an old one at that!) 19 Dec 2013 (Forum)
- Car with generous boot space - Few gadets would be nice but not essential. - Budget: £3k (could budge a couple of 100 higher if it was the right car). I know its a bit of pot luck at the end of the day, but if there is anything I can do to avoid buying a stinker I'd really appreciate it. Thanks everyone for your collected time :) -
Vauxhall Corsa D - Bought a dodgy car, its been 26 days... 17 Nov 2015 (Forum)
--[endif]--> Nearside Side Skirt – This side skirt was only adhesived on and is now hanging off the car The Consumer Rights Act 2015 requires dealers to supply goods of satisfactory quality; however, the vehicle is clearly unroadworthy. You are therefore in breach of contract. I am legally entitled to reject the vehicle and to be reimbursed for its full purchase price of £2895. -
Waved through red light by PC & flashed 23 Nov 2006 (Forum)
I'd like to share an incident which happened on my way home last night. Approaching a signal-controlled Y-junction I positioned myself in the right-hand lane to take the diverging road. On nearing the junction I saw that the diverging road was blocked by a 'Police - Accident' sign and a police officer was in attendance, directing traffic in the right-hand lane to rejoin the left lane and continue straight on. -
Nissan Qashqai - New Sept 2018 diesel Qashqai with Adblue 30 Dec 2020 (Forum)
We have no date for repair or return due to the parts being so new they cannot presently be ordered, it could be weeks or months ! We are in the throws of rejecting the car under consumer rights, NEVER once did Nissan mention that the new car was to have Adblue fitted, if they had we would of walked away, but more importantly when I'm spending the best part of £30k for a car I expect it to last longer than 4 days / 180 miles. -
Vauxhall Astra left hand drive 2004 - Vauhall Astra wont accelerate and then gears stuck 10 Jul 2017 (Forum)
Any ideas what this could be and what are our chances of the dealership backing down when I threaten small court action against them AND finance company as the onus is on them to prove the fault did not exist previously right? The salesman told me "you are out of warranty when I called today and to foget it" but I am relying on consumer legislation the goods not being fit for purpose etc. Be good to have sme theories on what the issues could be in case they try to hoodwink me etc Thanks all in advance PS the finance lady said her 12 year old Jag did this and it was a 5 min job of reconnecting a cable underneath that fixed it? -
Material insurance exclusion - check your policy!! 22 Jun 2017 (Forum)
Is it me, or is this widely known amongst us, the UK consumer? I have a fully comprehensive policy with Admiral. If you do, did you know that if you have an accident to the car where it has previously been repaired, that Admiral can choose to pay you cash rather than fix the vehicle? -
VW Golf - Bought from a dealer and have a problem or two 27 Sep 2012 (Forum)
It's been a month since I bought it, and this is the first time I've spoken to him about it, but it seems like a significant and costly problem that needs sorting and would've been present long before I got hold of the car. Thanks for any advice as to how to approach this and what my consumer "rights" may be. I don't really want shot of the car, I'd rather he fixed it There was apparently a 3 month warranty with the car for major mechanical issues. Thanks DG -
Legal info for small claims court 28 Apr 2016 (Forum)
I bought a 2013 Vauxhall Astra off auto trader on the 30/ 3/2016 for £4995, it was advertised as cat d and I was told it was only cosmetic damage to the back right rear of the bumper, they said I could easily fix it but it didn't look that bad and i was fine with it as it was. Upon taking it home a friend noticed mini chips over the windscreen and when placing things on the back seat I realised the back seat was not attached to the car at the bottom, I had someone click it into place but the right side had a noticeable gap between the seats And the left side seat clip was broken, I got in contact with the person I was dealing with for the car when I found out about the chips and he said he didn't know they was there but wouldn't fix it as it was cosmetic damage and not covered by them, only a mechanical or engine fault they would cover I also said about the back seat and they said it could of been the people who Valeted the car as they removed the back seat to fully clean it, but on the day and upon taking the car home it was very noticeable it was filthy so I'm not sure whether that was correct, 2 days later I rang for a refund and was told I would not receive one, I asked to speak to a manager and he said he would get them to call me back Saturday morning but that they would also refuse me a refund, the same day I wrote a letter to the manager asking for a refund after speaking to trading standards and stated it was under my short term right to reject and consumer rights, they emailed back but said I wanted a refund because of niggly reasons, I test drove it, I looked it over before purchase etc. -

Seat Ibiza - Please help - rejecting a vehicle 4 Nov 2017 (Forum)
Also window wipers were not working as they should. I sought advice from CAB and Which? Legal and they advised I was within my right to reject the vehicle as I had owned it less than a week by this point. So I wrote the dealership a letter and hand delivered it last Saturday stating I was rejecting it under the consumer rights act etc. -
news from the states 5 Sep 2001 (Forum)
California Superior Court Judge Ronald Styn ruled Aug. 16 that the cameras do not violate privacy rights, but that they were "untrustworthy and unreliable." Vehicle owners received tickets even though the photo does not identify them. The system suffered from a "total lack of oversight," he said. Styn ordered city officials to appear in court to make their case for installing cameras. -
Renault Clio - Faulty vehicle 8 Oct 2023 (Forum)
I told the garage that I have done less than 600 miles in the car, and that I had given them an opportunity to rectify the gearbox already, but now I believe the car is not fit for purpose and I want a full refund under section 24 of the consumer rights act. As thought, he told me to do one. So I’m perusing this with legal representation. However, I wondered what people’s thoughts are regarding the original repair. The garage told me that the recon gearbox was from eurocarparts. -

Can I reject this and get a refund ? 3 Sep 2003 (Forum)
He didn't The manager called me back and said that by law they had to be allowed to attempt to repair it. I contacted a solicitor who told me that the sale of goods act has changed and now the consumer has the right to demand a repair or a replacement or a refund. I told the manager this and he said that was wrong (surprise surprise). I'm after my £6400 back plus the first payment that I made of £700 including the acceptance fee. -
Audi A1 - Advice needed: Engine went within 6 months 8 Jan 2024 (Forum)
I only had the car for 6 months and driven it less than 1500 miles when it broke down. It fell within the 6 months under the Consumer Rights Act, so I understand that the onus is on them to prove there were no issues when the car was sold? Just wanted to see if anyone has had a similar experience or whether any advice can be given as to the best route to take at this point as I’m currently stuck in limbo.
