  • skoda octavia ambiente 2001 MY 26 Oct 2004 (Forum)
anybody got a 2001 MY Ambiente ? does it have a low fluid level indicator for the windscreen washer ?. Mine has no working indicator at the moment, but I think it had when I bought it last year. If it should, i'd like to get it before the warranty expires, but the dealer says it was never fitted to that model, while skoda customer services say it was ?
  • Ford Focus tyre pressures - nightmare 15 Aug 2006 (Forum)
When I drive the Focus Zetec 1.6 TDCi with 34 lbf in the front and rear tyres the ride feels hard and somewhat jittery. When the tyre pressures were set at 30lbf front and 30lbf rear the ride was significantly better, more comfortable, quieter, and the balance of the car felt better.
  • Stolen(?) licence disc on sale of car 23 Nov 2005 (Forum)
A wreck of a car is sold for £100. The car is sold without licence disc (on which there is £85 of tax remaining), as agreed by both parties. The vendor forgets to remove the tax disc from the windscreen. He jump starts the sold car, and the buyers drive off.
  • * - Visibility/Positioning of instruments 14 Sep 2017 (Forum)
In this day and age with the car work load increasing the positioning of important instruments is being ignored. With our speed now being monitored nearly everywhere it is paramount to be able to see ones speed without searching somewhere through the steering wheel, why are cars not fitted with either 'Heads up Speedo' or a small binnacle speedo at the foot of the windscreen so that speed can be seen without taking ones eyes from the Road?
  • Vauxhall Astra G Petrol (1998 - 2004) - Not a great start to the new year, 2 Jan 2010 (Forum)
Also the windscreen has shattered. It is a 2002 Astra Estate, with 73k miles on the clock. I should imagine the market value to be around £1.5k give or take. I live in the middle of nowhere with 3 kids and need a car :-( Thanks

  • Cooling systems: Why don't they... 14 May 2007 (Forum)
...use oil instead of water? No internal corrosion, no anti-freeze needed and I would think you still get effective heat transfer. or am I missing something? --

  • GM to phase out Android Auto and Apple car play 1 Apr 2023 (Forum)
The aim is to collect data (no doubt to sell to advertisers) and to sell subscriptions.  Another attempt to get a steady stream of cash from the users similar to BMW heated seats subscription.  No doubt the rest of the manufacturers will watch to see how this goes and whether they should try it too.
  • Cars are good for 500,000 miles 26 Apr 2019 (Forum)
I kept it for nearly a year, but decided it was far too big (though it was a SWB) and heavy duty (3.5t) for my needs. Really liked it though, loved the highly adjustable (and very comfy) seat, the truly epic heating/ventilation system, the 'london taxi' steering lock, and looking down on SUV drivers!.
  • Vauxhall - Genuine car parts? 16 Feb 2017 (Forum)
Hi all, After having a local garage fit a cheap replacement mirror on the drivers side , I've had problems with the heating element. The mirror just won't clear and after checking the temperatures of both mirrors, the passenger side gets to around 40 degrees where as my side barely reaches 15. It's slightly irritating and I've decided that I'm going to replace the mirror again.
  • Mazda MX5 mk2 - MX5 Hardtop Help Please 9 Feb 2017 (Forum)
I have a 2001 Y reg MX5 (mk2) I am trying to get hold of a hard top I have found one very close to home, the price is right and it includes getting it sprayed black to match my car. BUT it has no heated rear window. In such a small car / cabin, does anyone have any knowledge or experience of such a hard top? Will I forever wish I'd held out for a hardtop WITH a HRW or don't I need one?
  • Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 99 2.0 Rear wheel bearing stuck in hub 4 Jan 2010 (Forum)
I cannot get the outer part of the bearing out of the hub. (the car has discs all round) I have tried drifting it out with a suitable sized socket, applying heat and pressing it out using a vice but it wont shift. Any ideas? The really stupid thing is that I have the car immobile on the drive blocking my van in so I cant go anywhere until I get this sorted!!
  • Toyota Yaris II/Vitz (2006 - ) - Seat belt safety recall 28 Jan 2009 (Forum)
The move involves all Yaris models built in 2006 and 2007 and is part of a global recall involving 1.3 million cars across the world. Car owners are being told to bring their vehicles in after the problem was identified on a component known as a "seat belt pretensioner" which locks the belt in place. But it was discovered that this part could heat up and set a foam insulating pad alight, running the risk of a fire in a high-speed head-on crash.
  • Ford Galaxy (1995 - 2006) - 1997 2.8 V6 heater matrix replacement- 11 Jan 2009 (Forum)
My brother has a R reg Ford Galaxy 2.8 V6 where the heater does not pump out any significant heat and the matrix has been diagnosed as needing replacement. I have changed matrices on Golfs where it is not too bad a job but how difficult is it to do on these? The value of his car is low so it could mean scrapping the car or selling it cheap, but I could do it if it is not too bad...
  • Ford Mondeo III (2000 - 2007) - Driver's Door Mirror 6 Oct 2007 (Forum)
Went out to my car this morning to find the driver's side door mirror had been smashed I assume by a passing car. Can anybody give me an idea of work involved to replace or are there any links that could be posted with instructions?
  • a breath of fresh air? 7 Jan 2005 (Forum)
Would any backroomers know of any cars which allow you to have warm air coming from most of the heating vents but cold air coming onto your face? The only cars I know that do this are mercedes where the centre console vents give cold air whatever is coming out of the floor and side vents.
