Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 2001 1.6LX Seems less 'nippier' since a service 21 Jan 2009 (Forum)
Hi All, Its just over a month since I got my 1st car. So far it had the engine oil, oil filter, air filter and the spark plugs changed. Concern: It now seems less "nippier", e.g. when I'm trying to get away at the lights, seems to take slightly longer to speed up. People say its not the car, its me, I just got used to the car etc.. -
Ford Mondeo III (2000 - 2007) - 2004 TDCi 130 - Vapour/Haze 12 Mar 2008 (Forum)
It does not appear to be losing coolant, cooling system pressure tested OK and Ford could not find the source of the vapour query "header tank fault" after changing the header tank cap which appeaerd to improve system pressure. There is a leak on the oil pressure switch (needs changing at next service). It is not possible to see the source of the leak, but it is front of engine rising vertically just left of the centre of the engine. -
Citroen Berlingo Service Indicator 12 Sep 2006 (Forum)
It is coming up to a year old which is probably why the indicator is on despite the mileage but I'll be changing it's oil tomorrow and don't plan on getting a dealer service to honour the warranty for a few thousand miles unless I have to. Any ideas? Also, what should it's service intervals be? I normally change oil every 5000 miles anyway, coolant every couple of years and everything else perishable as per a factory service schedule. -
Pug 406 1.9td P reg smoke 24 May 2005 (Forum)
This smoke clears very quickly. I do have the odd day when it does not happen. The car has covered 161,000 miles, has 6000 mile oil and filter changes, and air and fuel filters are change before they are due. Other than this the car drives perfectly. The smoke smells like it is oil thats burning. I suspect valve guide seals my mate thinks it could be blocked breather. -
Fiat Punto diesel 6 Sep 2002 (Forum)
I know they aren't the best diesels, but the price seemed OK for its condition & many new parts and year, even allowing for the previous owner only changing the oil annually/10K using semisynthetic instead of 4½K. To be honest, I think the colour and microdisc player were highest in my daughter's priorities. Anyway, as usual I immediately changed all the fluids, including engine oil, which seemed to get black very quick. -
Smart Forfour - Automatic gearbox problems 25 Jul 2015 (Forum)
Shifting to manual mode will obviously stop this happening. Is there something that can be done? Will a gearbox oil change help, or is it the gearbox on it's way out and in need of an expensive repair? -
Mazda 3 1.6 TDCI - After engine change - immobiliser on. 8 Jan 2012 (Forum)
I recently changed the engine in my 2005 Mazda 3 1.6 tdci. The old engine had run on its own oil and was shot. I bought a 2008 fiesta 1.6 engine, swapped my loom and ecu, clutch, starter and sensors over but left the fiesta injector pump on it as it has much lower mileage. -

CVT maintenance 17 Oct 2018 (Forum)
Lots of cars are now coming with CVT transmissions. What are they like for maintenance? Do they need oil and belt changes and if so how often and what does it cost? Do they have any other requirements? Are they reliable for long term ownership? -

vectra vvti 1800 2007 - noisey tapets 30 Dec 2014 (Forum)
My vectra has a noise coming from under the bonet that sounds like noisey taper, although I've got no idea what the noise really is. It doesn't get any better when warm. Cars done 50k with full service history. The dealer did oil and filter change when I bought it 6 months so the oil is new and only 3k covered since. I will take it to my garage in the morning but some prior knowledge is alwayhelpful to save me getting ripped off. -

Renault Scenic (2003 - 2009) - 04 1.9dci "Check injection" warning light 31 Jan 2009 (Forum)
Am getting a warning light on dashboard "Check injection". I knew it was due for a service, so I've given it an oil change, oil filter & fuel filter. The light's still on. Any ideas? I'm loathe to take it to Renault - last time I had an emissions light & they said I needed a new EGR valve at £500 plus. I ignored them & the light went off after a few days. -
306 HDi A/C Comp 25 Jul 2006 (Forum)
We changed the bottom pipe on my mate's 306 HDi which had rotted through. He took it along to get it recharged, and the guy advised that the oil level in the compressor should be checked to ensure that it hadn't blown all the oil out of the hole. -

Saab 9-3 TiD 21 Jan 2004 (Forum)
While I'm dead chuffed with it so far, I can't quite get my head around the 18k service interval. Should I at least change the oil at about £10k or earlier, and, if so, should I be using synthetic or "regular" oils? Anything else to watch out for? Many thanks for any hints. Cheers Big Mack aka EwanM54
