  • What colour envelope do nips come in? 18 Jun 2019 (Forum)
I was in Manchester for the first time driving down a road and my satnav said 40, however once I had gotten Atleast 1 mile down the road I noticed a sign for 30, I had been behind Someone the entire time. I believe they may have been one speed camera. Anyhow it’s been 15 days today so I asked my mum if any post had been for me to which she responded you had a white envelope, but now she’s unsure who it was from... first it was the dvla and then she said it was a parking notice (which I did get a while ago from a private car park) but she threw it out before I could even check -_-, I’m from West Yorkshire and to my knowledge they came in a browns envelope, can anyone shed any light on this matter, would I have gotten a reminder soon after?
  • Bus CCTV - Do I need to worry? 11 May 2019 (Forum)
2 miles down the road I was at traffic lights and the bus pulls up to my offside, beeps his horn and points above his head to (what I assume is) a camera or some kind (CCTV/Dashcam) So, my question is this, what's the likelyhood the bus company is going to shop me in for this? And as a follow up, if they did, what would I be facing? Dangerous Driving?

The card error problem went away but the units clock kept jumping....they finally replaced the unit for yet another one, which they had tested...it now works perfectly except for the screen over exposing first start of the day every day...I've got used to unplugging the supply to reset it all the time.....Nextbase couldn't fault the unit I sent back....but then they would say that wouldn't they.....I like the unit but would have prefered it to work faultlessly, they never followed the problem up....not sure if they really care...would I buy another one...only if I couldn't find an alternative twin camera unit.
  • Speeding ticket and existing insurance company 19 Aug 2016 (Forum)
I am annoyed at myself as I have managed to keep a clean license for 10 years but Saturday I noticed the dreaded double flash of the speed camera in my mirror. Today the letter arrived, I have 28 days to send the completed form back. From experience with my current insurer Highway (they increased my premium by a huge amount when I moved to a better area), I know they will increase my premium by a stupid amount so I got some quotes on a compare site with adding the 3 points and there are a couple of companies with quotes similar to what I am paying now with 0 points with Highway.
  • Any - Census 11 Nov 2015 (Forum)
I felt like I'm fallen into the cold war era by mistake and was trying to go through the Berlin Wall. All this to try and shove a pointless survey in your face. With all the cameras and ANPR they had pointed at me they could have posted it to me so I could have used it as toilet paper as expected. But no, with typical anti motorist feeling they made a massive queue through the area.
  • Advice on a 3-4 year old hatchback needed ! :) 16 Sep 2015 (Forum)
I'll start by saying - I have no clue about cars. I work in IT and I research gadgets, tech and cameras day and night, however I never spent enough time on cars :( I am driving a 2006 Astra which has started to show serious signs of wear and tear and would like to 'upgrade' (Is that even a term in the car market?
  • Any - Plod's luxury cars 3 Jun 2015 (Forum)
I'm sure someone will stick up for them telling me its all about value for money yada yada, but in no way is it justified tooling them up with luxury branded cars - unless of course they're a reward for their fine collection ability. They aren't for stopping speeding around here as the a1(m) is covered in speed camera and you're lucky if you can top 40mph on a good day. Anyway rant over. I'm sure next time I scratch my nose, or lift my hand from the steering wheel for a second to change the radio that a black, unmarked ferrari will pull me over for a £60 fine....
  • "Parked" for 5 seconds! 13 May 2014 (Forum)
He was truly bewildered by accompanying photo, so we went to view the video.  The camera car had followed him along the road and took a picture of him as he pulled to the side of the road (next to double yellows), to let the traffic come past, before he parked his car on the street.  The video shows him pulling to the side, with brake lights solidly on and about 3 seconds of him being "on" the yellow line.
  • Peugeot Partner Teepee - Advice on buying a small van/car second hand 11 Jun 2013 (Forum)
T he boot needs to be of decent size to fit cameras, tripods etc in, but as most of us are under 25 we are looking for one in a low insurance category.  None of us have ever bought a vehicle before but this is what we've got so far. Looking for something like a Peugeot Partner Teepee  1.6 HDi 90 (as recommended by Honest John!)
  • Hit and run inside work car park BUT 8 Feb 2013 (Forum)
I dont want to make an insurance claim as my premiums are already high and it was not my fault. The only CCTV camera does have a picture of my car arriving for work undamaged which is good. However, there are no signs up in my work place rejecting responsibility to car owners (the usual signs you see at supermarkets, etc).
  • Subaru Legacy - 62 J issued 2 Nov 2012 (Forum)
Once the other car had left the garage, he reversed back into the space on the driveway, off the road.  For the very short time he was waiting to reverse, a camera van must have taken a picture of his wheels.  This seems so wrong and as he was not issued with the ticket at the time he had no opportunity to take pictures of his own, or gather any evidence, let alone explain things to the traffic warden!
  • Ford transit - speeding N.I.P notice is not of my van 19 Mar 2012 (Forum)
Hi all, I have a BIG problem.....i got home from work to a N.I.P notice claiming that my van was caught on an average speed camera on the M62 doing 62mph in a 50mph restricted zone. The offence took place at 4.16 A.M on Sunday 11.03.2012................thats right silly oclock on a Sunday!!! I was, as i always am, in bed and my van was safely parked on my drive.
  • N/A - Speeding (Again) 22 May 2011 (Forum)
He refers to the government plans to start fining motorists for "Driving carelessly" . which he says is a way of re-balancing road safety enforcement away from the narrow focus of camera enforced speed policing. He sees this as a "Policy based on gaining the support of the Jeremy Clarkson brigade who glorify speed" He then goes on to say that the fact remains that speed kills.

  • Mazda Mazda 6 (2002 - 2007) - Cruise control - should it work downhill? 10 Apr 2009 (Forum)
Driving my newish (to me) Mazda 6 through town this morning, I flicked on the cruise control at 30mph as it sudddenly dawned on me that it would be a good idea to help me keep to 30 along a road with several speed cameras. After about 500 metres or so, the road took a dip downhill on what is a fairly steep gradient (bicycles are often travelling faster than cars down this particular stretch). However, the cruise did not hold the car at 30 and it started gathering speed.
  • Motorway service station time limits 6 Jan 2009 (Forum)
I've read or seen something recently (can't remember where, thought it might have been Watchdog, but 'the boss' says she doesn't remember it) about a chap who parked in a m/way service station when driving from Cornwall to Scotland overnight and copped a fine because he stayed in a service station car park for more than 2 hours whilst having a nap...was zapped on a camera. would be interested to hear what others think. Personally i think we ought to be encouraging drivers to take decent rest stops, not fining them.... and what harm was he doing in the middle of the night.
  • Get orff my Meadow! 30 Aug 2008 (Forum)
Incidentally, if anyone from Coventry City Council is reading this, a drop-off zone for car passsengers at the coach station - like the ones airports have - would actually be useful, as coach passengers arriving by car don't generally relish a half mile walk through a dimly-lit city centre, CCTV cameras or not.
  • Honda Accord UK (2003 - 2008) - '55' plate (05 MY) Accord CDTi - injection problem 13 Feb 2008 (Forum)
Got car warmed up, then found a stretch of dual-carriageway where I could hold it in gear and get the revs up (had to be low gear - average speed cameras!). Hit 4000rpm and engine cut out, glow plug light flashing; would not restart while coasting. Stopped car, and got engine restarted at third attempt, with engine management light now permanently illuminated, but no glow plug light.
  • 118MPH Police Chief banned - 90days + £500 16 Jan 2008 (Forum)
Paul Gee, 48, who recently retired from Durham Constabulary, had claimed he was carrying out a "risk assessment" for his force's driving school at the time. Falkirk Sheriff Court heard he was in uniform and driving a marked car when caught by a mobile camera. Gee was banned from driving for three months and fined £500. The former inspector, from Heddon On The Wall, Northumberland, had originally pleaded not guilty to the speeding offence, committed on 3 November 2006.
  • "Killer Road": any views? 30 Apr 2007 (Forum)
However, that aside, and regardless of people's opinions on other sites (most notably that the A46 is a clear road that suffers from dullards driving too slowly) all I can say is that itf it stops even one person doing something foolish, then it will have saved someone the grief so harrowingly portrayed. And I don't think anyone put it on for the cameras. As the mother of a 13yr old killed by a drunk driver said "I know people that drink and drive and I know what I want to say to them but you just don't do you".
