• Rust bubble on Nissan QX 8 Feb 2004 (Forum)
  There have been rust bubbles on right-rear-wheel arch of my 1995 Nissan QX. The bubbles were first noticed 6 months ago, covering a surface area of 10mm x 10mm. Now the bubble is getting more pronounce and started to spread round the folded part of metal towards the side of the car.

  Now I accept that both sets of figures don't totally compare but I think you may have guessed where I'm going with this..... What difference would you notice if the VAG lump was stuck under the Nissan's bonnet? (Apart from loads of empty space in the engine bay) If the answers' VIRTUALLY NONE, then why do the likes of Toyota, Nissan etc. still keep putting huge diesels with relatively low power/torque in their larger 4X4's when, in theory at least they could fit a much smaller unit with the same output?

  When idling in park, over a period of two minutes + when warm, the engine rev's drop, then increase dramatically without any pressure being applied to the accelerator. My local non-Nissan mechanic is at a loss. After changing the fuel filter without any appreciable improvement, he is understandably reluctant to progress further without an indication of where the problem lies. have you heard of similar symptoms?
