ford focus - Particles, Catalitic converters, DPF's, Diesel??? 9 Jul 2011 (Forum)
If manufacturers are so comitted to low emissions how is it that I cannot buy a Ford Focus without air con ( uses 8% more fuel) and told by most enonomy drivers to turn off and it adds £500 to car. I have managed since 03 with a non air con fiesta if I get hot I open the window. The DPF's have an effect on fuel consumption so does Catalytic converters. -

Definition of New Car. Advice Pls 11 Oct 2003 (Forum)
I cannot see how a car involved in what they describe as a minor accident can be defined or sold as NEW!! The other option is to get a car in two weeks similar spec but with Air Con but they are not willing to cover the cost of the air con £1000. Help, who can I take this to - Top Gear? How much compensation am I entitled to? What is the definition of a NEW car? I'm 23 are they taking advantage of me by offering £300 comp? -
Renault Laguna II - Heater fan has stopped working 31 Aug 2015 (Forum)
Hi I have a 2004 Laguna and the heater fan has stopped working, it is the climate control one with air con. Previously to the fan stopping working the heater was always warm even when turned down to number 16 but would be hot at number 26. I have pulled all fuses from drivers side fuse box and under the bonnet and all seem ok have also removed and replace all the relays under the bonnet but still no joy. -
Daihatsu Terios SE Auto - Worth a punt? 2 Feb 2015 (Forum)
The car is in good order with six months MOT and I've known the owner and car for years. I drove one years ago and remember it was fun to drive. This particular car is the SE so has air con and ABS. It would just be used as a commuting/ occasional use car, short journeys only. This is obviously getting a bit long in the tooth and I'm wondering if it's worth anything. I reckon it'll be juicy which lessens it's appeal. -
Ford Ka - Over heating 1 Dec 2014 (Forum)
Hi.....looking for a little advice on a over heating issue on ford ka Its a 1.3L, 58 plate, no air con. Car starts, and runs OK, internal heater starts to warm car, radiator and expansion bottle both fill with hot water, electric fan on external radiator works. Not using any water.......after 20 mins round town driving dash warning light comes on, put internal heating on full (open a window) and after 20 secs or so warning light goes off and stays off as long as you keep heater on. -
Renault Espace III - Espace heater fan (or fans?) not blowing 8 Dec 2011 (Forum)
Also, the fan might have caused the resistor pack to fail so it might be worth checking the fan and replacing if it doesn't look too good. The air con still works though only blows through when the car is moving so it is just about possible to de-mist the windscreen. I've searched for instructions on how to replace these parts but haven't found anything at all that helps me. -
Peugeot 405 Diesel - Ticking noise 6 Nov 2010 (Forum)
It goes quiete with the key out but can actually still be heard with a screwdriver, at least for a while. Air con does not work but switch in or out makes no difference. What is the device under the rear of the N/S wing? this appears to be the source of the noise. Haynes doesn't help. The electrics are shot on this car as an "Auto electrician" attacked the car to stop the battery being flattened. -
Which car would you recommend for keeping for the next three years? 27 Jun 2010 (Ask HJ)

Jaguar S-Type 2006 - Heating full on and very hot 25 Mar 2010 (Forum)
Not sure if it was just the drivers side originally. Jaguar have indicated that the heating valve unit may be faulty or I need a new Air Con control module. Any ideas of what they cost and fitting? I paid £147 for the heating valve unit plus £92 in labour. Duplicate post with typo hidden -
Vauxhall Astra G Petrol (1998 - 2004) - 02 1.4 Heating steaming up windows 15 Nov 2009 (Forum)
Hi I have had my car now nearly six months and I have it running perfectly apart from one thing. When I try the heating system my windows steam up. The only way I can clear it is by using the Air Con and that makes my car freezing. Obviously its winter and I dont want to freeze everytime I drive. I have changed the pollen filter when i got the car which looked like it had'nt been changed ever since the car was built. -
Ford Mondeo II (1996 - 2000) - 1996 Lights out 23 Nov 2008 (Forum)
All I have done is to fit the correct new head light switch and all was working okay but when the head lights were on with front and rear fogs, all the lights have gone off except side lights front and rear. Also not working are the heater fan temp gauge, all ignition lights, heated front screen, air con. Any ideas? I have checked all fuses in the car and under the bonnet. Quick edit to make it more readable - not perfect, Rob {year added to header - DD} -
Effects of electical items on your fuel economy 10 Jan 2008 (Forum)
He was saying that he turned the heating off to save fuel econmy, likewise he was driving on side lights in the rain rather than dipped beam. Now I know that the air con compressor will increase fuel consumption but would you really notice extra fuel being used by using your heater? Lights? Rear window demister? Etc? What about using the radio? I'm not condoning any of this, just want to know if there is a gain that is measurable. -
Mitsubishi FTO - abs as standard? 29 Jun 2007 (Forum)
Do FTO's have abs as standard? What about air-con? Neither feature seems to get mentioned in adverts on Auto trader. If they don't have it, do they not go all over the place? Still fancy a CLK (posted about them a few weeks ago), but been a bit scared by rust and reliability issues on other forums. -
Daihatsu Sirion 55 plate - 60k report 13 Jun 2007 (Forum)
The car is a joy to own, averages 61mpg including a 40 mile motorway round-trip each day Carries 5 adults with ease - 5 doors as standard a big plus Enough power for around town Air con is great Handles with ease - very easy to park good, easy to use while driving stereo. an aboslute delight to own and run - highly recomended. Done nothing to it, except the service. Downside - bit noisy if going over 90mph We are considering another one (now only £6500!) -
2003 Ibiza probs 24 Sep 2006 (Forum)
The first thing is that if the engine is under any load at less than 2000 rpm it sounds as though the fan belt slipping. This goes away if you switch the air con on- but surely the fan belt wouldn't slip at 3 yrs old and less than 30000 miles would it? The second thing is if you leave the car locked for any length of time and then unlock it, as soon as you open the drivers door theres an electrical whirring noise that seems to come from under the car somewhere for about 2 seconds.
