Peugeot 106 1.1 1997 - Toasty Buns 9 Jan 2018 (Forum)
This is just to show that it works, and that it has a range of at least 30 foot it has 2 relays , so maxed out, It can control two 10a 12v outlets As it arrives £6 all in , from my man in the East ;) https://ibb.co/fi7B1m and as an added bonus, the remote looks like a Minion in his big underpants :) https://ibb.co/fn3Jgm This is how I've wired it, as my cig lighter is constant 12v but you could just tap into a heavy duty 12v source https://ibb.co/dvALu6 first steps...very low standy amps . 11milli amps, if not less https://youtu.be/ALoixRtiY4A messing about, to test if it would run a 240v inverter disco bulb , incase you were wondering :) and yes, I did take the video with a potato :) https://youtu.be/A7-cCBro4sY I am trying a spare battery..as the heated seats take 2.5-3 amps and can charge it on the fly https://ibb.co/bsZKnR https://ibb.co/jzSGZ6 Anywho, just to show that it lends itself to other applications. -
Volvo S40 - 2007 Volvo S40 1.8 Petrol - Emissions Through the 29 Oct 2017 (Forum)
The garage was not very useful with providing a solution as they, naturally, wanted me to leave it at the garage to be fixed. Currently my theory is that the car is running very rich because of a lack of air getting into the combustion chambers as I've already tested the front heated lambda sensor and the voltage was within the range it should be, I've also taken a look inside the catalytic converter and that's fairly clean. -
What's the next car trend? 17 May 2017 (Forum)
I don't think the recent consumer shift to petrol is going to work easily for such heavy and large vehicles - I wonder if they'll really be acceptably affordable to buy or run. What's next? What trend is going to emerge in 2020 onwards? My two pennies' worth is that I hope vehicles start to get smaller outside relative to interior space inside and we see fewer cars that are unnecessarily tall/big. -

Toyota Yaris - Stick or twist 23 Nov 2016 (Forum)
1.How long should an engine last? I change oil and filter twice a year. 2 . how much do cars cost to maintain? I've always run cars into the ground but am trying hard to look after. Needs must. 3. I'll see what happens in mot, but should I save the repairs for a new car? How much more should I expect from a yaris. -
Too many decisions.... Buy a car 7 Nov 2016 (Forum)
Reason for upgrade is second child on way and need legroom and boot space which the fiesta didn't provide and our Seat Ibiza ST provides boot space but not leg room (keeping that as the run about though). Also the 1.4 in the Ibiza (non turbo) is far too slow - not looking for sports car performance but the 42 mile round trip to work is a bore. So decisions: I'm keen on Mondeo, i40 estate, Avenue, even into Auris/Focus/Leon estates etc but SWMBO prefers SUVs like the Sportage and Tucson but iirc the boot spaces in SUVs aren't as good as our Ibiza ST let alone the card I'm considering? -
Vauxhall Corsa C - Clicking noise when releasing clutch 16 Aug 2016 (Forum)
In addition to this, I've noticed that when the car is stationary and in neutral with the engine running, the clutch makes a much more noticeable noise. When depressing and then releasing the clutch there is another clicking/clanging sort of noise coming from the front of the car. I am able to change the intensity of the noise with how fast I bring the clutch up. -
2006 VW Polo 1.2 E - Volkswagen Polo 1.2 Misfiring 23 Jul 2016 (Forum)
Background: I bought a 2006 VW Polo E 1.2 as a first car for £1400. The first few weeks were good in fact they were great...until I did a motorway run and the dreaded engine light came on. The engine vibrations also worsened. So I took it to my local garage and he changed out a coil pack. Simple, problem solved? Sadly not. The same issues carried on which lead me to believe that the car needs a service and injector clean out. -
2004 VW Touran Diesel Difficult Shifting When Cold 21 Jun 2016 (Forum)
I tried all possible ways but the gears were so stiff I could not shift at all. After leaving the engine running for about 15 minutes I've managed to shift the gears. Since then it’s now happening on every morning. I think the problem is getting worst now. Shifting gears has never been a problem since I bought the car in December last year and was all fine during the winter months. -
Hyundai i30 - Advice required..millage error with car I viewed. 22 Apr 2016 (Forum)
Hello all, I know the answer to this question before I even ask, avoid! run for the hills! But it's left me scratching my head. I went along to view a Hyundai i30 last night, lovely looking car, 6 years old, the full service history was there. It stated on the ad the it had only 24000 miles, but when I arrived the dealer was quick to disclose that it had actually done 43000. -
Citroen C5 estate 1,6 Hdi (2006) - Engine cutting Out 4 Apr 2016 (Forum)
However over the last few weeks, whenever i put fuel in it cuts out quite often when I try to accelerate or go round a sharp left hand corner. This improves after a couple of days and it runs fine, until I put fuel in again! The car starts well, ticks over smoothly but if you touch the accelerator pedal you get 10 seconds of revs then it dies, only to restart OK after 10 seconds. -
Volkswagen Golf - New car - VW Golf or alternative 15 Mar 2016 (Forum)
Hi I’m hoping for some advice as I am looking for a second car to run alongside my 59 plate Corsa 1.4 Design. Looking for petrol as mileage is likely to be 8-10k for both cars combined and plan to keep for 10 years. The plan is for the hatchback to replace the Corsa at the end of its life and would go for large family car thereafter. -
Ford Focus - Should a 61 plate have MOT history? 1 Mar 2016 (Forum)
Assuming this is a bona fide vehcile is it still true that very low mileage cars (avg 3,000 per year) are bad purchases because they only ever had short run cold starts? -
Nissan Micra - Advice please - to sell or not to sell? 21 Oct 2015 (Forum)
option 2: sell the ford pros - the micra is in mint condition with much lower mileage cons - we will hardly get any money for it since it is old even if it runs fine; the micra is a bit small for our holiday with luggage and pets (though we could get around that) option 3: keep both but put the micra SORN pros - a backup if the ford dies; if I change jobs I might need a car again. -
Chrysler Sebring - Chrysler TPMS & new MOT 18 Oct 2015 (Forum)
Finally it seems ridiculous to have to spend £600 on a car worth a little over £1000 just to keep it on the road! The car is running perfectly well and always has, however I was planning on upgrading over the next year, I now won't be able to sell it as its not legal! Any thoughts appreciated -
Ford Focus - Up in smoke.... Some advice please 28 May 2015 (Forum)
The car was just over 3 years old so I am guessing Ford's warranty has run out. The car had 8080 miles on it when he purchased it from the Main Ford Dealers, he covered less than 200 miles in it during the 3 weeks he owned it. The dealers are telling him to claim on his insurance who are offering him £2900 less than he paid for the car. -
Ford C-MAX - DPF (or not) Woes 1.6 TDCI Ford C-Max 25 Feb 2015 (Forum)
Car is a 55 Plate Diesel C-Max, last year we my wife was using the car for work, which was very short journeys, the Engine Systems light came on, and a Blocked DPF was diagnosed, this was rectified by a mechanic plugging a computer on the car and revving it for a number of minutes, anycase a few weeks went by and i started using the car to give it a run out and doing 60 mile round trips on the motorway, and it blocked again. This time couldnt be cleared by the computer, so we bought a patent part DPF with fitting costing £300. Now about 5-6 months has passed, and i have been using the car for work, with my wife using it maybe twice a week, and the engine light has come on, we have got it diagnosed again and it has come up with a blocked DPF again, we have done at the most 4000 miles since the DPF was replaced, and more than likely 3800 of them miles has been motorway miles. -
Vespa 125 - Vehicle Cloned - Am I okay to Sell? 5 Jan 2015 (Forum)
I went away in November to New York and returned to find a letter from the police saying I was involved in a hit and run (whilst I was away). My vehicle was chained to a tree with 4 locks, 2 are alarmed. and I had the keys in my pocket. I provided proof and I've heard nothing since. Today I receieved another letter saying I was speeding. -
Hyundai i40 Tourer - Hyundai i40 mpg? 23 Oct 2014 (Forum)
I'm now sick and could cry myself to sleep most nights as I'm struggling to see how I can afford to run it! I bought a hyundai i40 1.6 petrol tourer as it gave me the space I need for my little girl and all her grubbing and came with all the extras that made it feel really special! I bought it from arnold clark but instead of the mpg of nearly 42 I am only getting about 30 mpg! -
Saab 9-5 Aero - Fettling the front calipers 20 Aug 2014 (Forum)
The easy option is of course to fit exchange calipers, but I'm really in "maintenance mode" on this car now - spending what's necessary to keep it in good safe running order without going OTT. And the MOT is due in a couple of months.... Lastly, I have to say that I don't feel there is an issue with the brakes, they seem to be functioning perfectly well from a driving perspective
