• Passat Air Con stopped working 12 Nov 2004 (Forum)
  Tonight driving home,all of a sudden I felt chilly., When I looked down to mess with the Air Con I couldn't see the buttons as the blue background light was inoperative. The air con blower wasn't working either. When I got home I found out that there are two thirty amp fuses which I swapped around and lo and behold the air con kicked in.

  Any ideas on what has happened? I wonder if the air con pully is seizing up.

  Hi My car on tick over every now and then starts to make a horrible noise which seems to be on the drive belt, its like a dry bearing, but its not happening all of the time !. Power Steering Pump, Alternator, Air Con compresor, my gut feeling its the Air Con, because the noise gets quite loud and then something kicks in and it stops!. Would appreciate any advice. Thanks

  When I open the bonnet at idle, I can see the engine sort of 'vibrating' more than usual - turn the air-con off, all back to normal. Any ideas ?

  Car is P reg Calibra 2.5 at 81.000 miles. Does anyone know of any problems or faults with the air con system on this car, which would cause the unit to freeze up to a point where ice cristals come out of the vents into the car. Has anyone seen this before please ? Air con specialist and Vaux main dealer have both checked over and recharged the system but have no answer to this.

  As mentioned in one of my previous posts, i have a Rover 214 Sei. This model comes with air con as standard (not climate control). Iv'e never had air con before. When the heat dial is set to hot, should the air con blow hot or not? Thanks for any thoughts on this.

  Thank you for all the replies to my previous question. A final thought, if you need to run your air con all the time to keep it working properly and avoid expensive repairs, why do manufactures provide you with the facility to switch it off?

  Didnt seem to really chill the air so i think something is up. On 206's are there common problems with the air con or where do i start with diagnosing the issue? It worked fine last summer/autumn. thanks

  Hi! I'm in need of replacement parts for the high and low pressure pipes into the air-con unit (underneath the car). My garage just has no luck in finding any.  Any out there, preferably new? Many thanks   Thrupeman (Somerset)

  air con doesnt work had the car about 6 months i was going to try that ez chil recharge at 40 pounds a can, any advise would be appriciated.thanks lee.

  The air con has packed up, I switch it on at least once a week to lubricate seals etc, belts are ok, where does one start? I am ok with standard mechanics but a/c is new to me, any help would be welcome, thanks.

  The air con compressor on my Astra 1.6 16V 1997 has developed a noise a bit like an old fridge. I have stopped using the A/C as a precaution. Does this mean big bills or just a regas?? Any advice would be much appreciated.

  Hi all Have had this problem with the car since I bought it around two years ago!  The air con does not work at all although the light on the button lights up.  The air does not blow very forcefully out of the vents no (regaardless of whether the air con is on or off) until the recirculated air button is pressed the fan then kicks in and blows air out a more forcefully.

  Hi, we have a 2003 Civic old shape and today during a drive in what was a hot spell I noticed the air con was not working. I switched it off and there was no difference in the temperature of the vents.When I arrived home I sat with the car at idle, air con switched off, when I switched it on there was no load placed on the engine at all and the rev counter remained steady, the air did not get any cooler.

  Hi, My dads Y Reg micra has just had its air con recharged and now the 4 speed fan control only runs on the fastest speed, with or without the air-con on? Could the garage that did the recharge have done something to upset the fan control??

  2005 Vectra 2.2 sri. My air con was working perfectly, then just stopped. The light comes on on the dash when selected and the fan is working but the air temp does not go cold. A friend in a Ford garage carried out a gas check and said there was no leak on the system (his machine checks for leaks then recharges the gas) he repressurised the system but the air con is still not working.

  Does anyone know of a good air con place in West Yorkshire or Manchester who will not do the sucking of teeth, shaking of head routine and say it needs a new one. Bill
