   The new pair are the real thing, polarised, something that I thought the old pair were, but the effects show that the old pair, although good, were not polarised. With the polarisation effect the reflected light from the windscreens on approaching cars is filtered out, and the lenses show up which cars have tinted windscreens.  Some of the windscreens are quite strongly tinted and it shows up as a bloom similar to what you sometimes see on camera lenses.

  This is a great car, used daily, utterly solid. Mechanical parts are usually the same as Honda UK's cars, but bodywork parts are not. Unfortunately there is now a crack on the windscreen large enough to require  the whole screen replacing.

  Hello. With the frosty nights, I have had to demist my windscreen. Twice in a row there has been condensation running down my windscreen and drops of water from the sunroof. All windowns and sunroof closed. I am demisting using the A/C on full with windscreen vents.

  Some detective work with a watering can revealed the problem. What is happening is rain flows down the windscreen, then down the wing rain channels (the bits you see when the bonnet is up), then towards the front of the wing and drips down and collects, trapped in the wing. The shape of the metal at that point does not allow the rain to drain away so it sits.

  Tuesday evening, M25 anti-clock near Rickmansworth . I am passed in lane 3 by a Focus doing estimated 80-90 , tailgating a van in front. Sadly, that's common . But to my amazement I thought I saw a child in the front .   When they swipe down it leaves a mist which you can hardly see out of when it's dark When the windscreen wipers are on intermitent as above. when they mist up on the swipe down, as soon as it is inbetween wipes the screen clears really fast.   Just bought a 1 year old Mk3 focus that I've found has a leak from the top of the windscreen 4 inches to the left of the rear view mirror. Returned it to the main Ford agent where I bought the car from who can't find the leak. It's going in next week for 2 days for a "full water test" although I've got a feeling that they either won't or won't admit to finding anything.
• Golf Mk III: cracked windscreen corner 2 Jan 2006 (Forum)
  A curved crack about 2.5" long has appeared across the lower offside corner of the windscreen on my 1996 Mk III Golf VR6. It's in the coloured area below the level where it would be a problem in terms of visibility. However, I wonder if it is a common weakness and how it could have happened (the car has a gentle life), there being no sign of external impact and I think it's only the outer glass that's cracked.

  Yesterday, in common with a great many people, I shifted about 3" of snow from the roof and windows of my car using a clean brush (ex dustpan and brush set from the kitchen). Somehow and annoyingly the sliding down of the snow on the windscreen has produced a near vertical light scratch in the glass, fortunately near the passenger's eyeline.

  The rubber strip around the windscreen now has a ridge with stands proud of the windscreen and surrounding metalwork by about 7mm. The rubber doesn't actually reach the metalwork in the top corners. I'm sure that wind noise has increased noticeably.
