SAAB 9-5 (1997 - 2009) - Blown turbo woes 12 Jun 2009 (Forum)
It has always been serviced regularly in line with Saabs recommendations as we are aware of the sludge problem. (The timing chain etc was changed under warranty at the time she bought the car) Two months ago she had a problem starting the car and said it kept stalling so she booked it in to the dealers. They fitted a new oxygen sensor. Problem was still there. -
Lexus, Toyota, GM, others - Hybrids - good to drive? how about 2nd hand 24 Jan 2014 (Forum)
Ideally I would like something that has been around a couple of years so I can look for a 2nd hand one at dealers, but when I did look at the 400h (and before deciding it was too big for me), I also learnt that most used car warranty schemes do not cover the electric power train of a hybrid (such as batteries). With the Prius now being around 10 years, its a good time to ask, are Hybrids a risky second hand buy? -
VIP Car Sales - Knutsford 7 Apr 2017 (Forum)
• Sold with 12 month MOT but was actually 5 months. • Garage sold cherished plate without permission. • No warranty activated due to tincorrect completing of DVLA forms. • Courtesy car provided was poor quality. • Told car was repaired, yet an independent garage said the engine cover had not been removed. -
Used cars of the year 13 Oct 2019 (Forum)
Few Japanese cars get a mention, it’s again based on how well a car handles, looks and goes over reliability, durability and longterm costs. Which are things any used buyer should prioritise. So I thought I’d list my own used cars of the year awards based on my experience of buying and selling them over the years. -
What are my chances in small claims court? Used ca 15 May 2012 (Forum)
I purchased a ford focus c-max 2.0 tdci, 42,000 miles seen on auto trader from a dealer about 100 miles away from me. I agreed a price on the promise... -
Ford KA, KA2, KA3 (1996 - 2008) - rust around the rear wiper blade 7 Feb 2009 (Forum)
Cheating, I know, but atleast I wouldn't have to be reminded of the rust problem every time I walk up to the car. Does anyone know if larger diameter rubber sheaths are available, and where I can source one? And how should I go about touching up the paintwork? I have tried to use a little brush supplied with a tube of touch-up paint supplied by Ford, but the result looks terrible. -
Lights, Complex????? 11 Mar 2002 (Forum)
The instructions were simple, bolt in lights behind bumper, plug into wiring plug nearby, replace blanking pannel with new pannel, replace switch 'blank' with switch and plug in wiring from behind the blank, fit relay into fusebox in the place marked front fog. All went well until it came time to try them. No Joy. I checked the bulbs which were OK, I used the rear fog light switch to illiminate that, still no joy, I swapped the relay with the air con relay which are identicle, still no joy. I decided to ask my "friendly" local main dealer as to whether i could have faulty wiring in my vehicle and should I be booking it in under warranty. -
Collating BR FAQ on TDi chip upgrades 11 Sep 2003 (Forum)
As for my own interest, I reckon that paying out £250 or so for Upsolute to upgrade my Passat is probably a better value option than changing the car for a newer, faster equivalent with the same level of kit. According to the Upsolute site, their chip would take power from 110 to 143 bhp and torque from 173 to 214 lb ft. Once it's out of extended warranty in February I'll probably go ahead and do the deed. -
Renault Scenic (2003 - 2009) - Grand Scenic - 1 yr / 16,000 mile report. 21 Mar 2008 (Forum)
It still feels like a fairly new car overall. The car itself is a joy both to drive and to live with. On the road it's perky, refined, comfortable and quiet. Controls and suspension are optimised for comfort and ease of operation rather than feel (numb electric PAS and well overservoed brakes, for example), but in the context of this kind of car it's fine. -
Volvo V40 - Volvo New 2.0l diesel reliability 7 Dec 2015 (Forum)
So I contacted Volvo assist to attend my vehicle at my home, which they did within an hour, and after 20minutes diagnosed the egr as at fault and booked it in with my prefered local dealer (Not the dealer I purchased from) the next day with a hire car arranged for me to use as a courtesy car. It took three days to repair my car when I went to collect it I was told by the service manager that my egr was fine and in actual fact it was my oil level to high, I slight comment about how I should be more careful topping up oil, before I cut him off and explained I did not top up my oil. -
Citroen Berlingo Multispace (1998 - 2010) - 15K and one year in. 22 Jul 2008 (Forum)
Twelve months later, here are my experiences and opinions. Image. Let's face it, it is an issue and to be honest SWMBO had huge reservations, seeing the car as the preserve of eccentrics/the very old/ the very odd. One day after I bought the car I was approached by a couple in a supermarket carpark. they had identified a Berlingo as ticking all their boxes for a second car (no.1 was the 3 Series they got out of I presumed) but ......image. -
Skoda Yeti - My third Yeti 22 Sep 2015 (Forum)
The KESSY system is proving a useful addition and my earlier comments regarding the options fitted to the Urban apply equally here. I again plan to run my winter tyres / 16” steel rims November to March. The new car is fitted with Pirelli P Zero Rosso’s, which seem a strange choice of tyre for such a car. -
What Are My Rights if I Buy a Duff Car? 9 May 2007 (Forum)
Anyway this has happened twice since, yesterday being the last time in my opinion as I have lost all faith in this car and have just had enough. I rang the dealer offering him a final opportunity to put right any faults and he has said "out of 1 month warranty not my problem so prove I have sold you a car not of satisfactory quality". -
Hyundai Santa Fe 2.2 diesel - First 5 months of ownership 25 Feb 2012 (Forum)
Insurance is £480 for a 55 year old with max no claims. I don't know if that is a lot as I've had company cars for quite a while. On average, I cover about 18,000 to 20,000 business miles a year and around 7,000 private miles. I might end up doing quite a bit more business miles over the next 2 or 3 years so I was attracted to to the 5 year unlimited mileage warranty. -
Review Fiat Doblo 2002 JTD "the Fault-Master" 13 Apr 2010 (Forum)
Or it could have been that it used to cut out on corners leaving you with no power steering. It didn`t help perhaps that a group of us had to man-handle it across an Motorway carpark - to allow it`s immobiliser to stop being blocked by a nearby repeater mast. -
Part-exed a "clocked" car?!?! 1 Dec 2013 (Forum)
About 2 weeks ago I purchased a used car from an independent trader. Gave him v5, old MOTs, HPI (from when i bought the car), service book, all other paperwork etc, paid the £3500 difference in value and drove my new car home. -
Hyundai i40 tourer 1.7 active 115ps - Reliability/Economy/Maintenance 3 Jan 2018 (Forum)
I was also aware, having waited and watched many other drivers running these vehicles as town taxis for 18months, that the problems appear quite early in the car's life, and once the dealer gets the car in and does the fix, the problem seems to be cured. I am guessing there is maybe a known fault in production, but rather than doing a full recall, Hyundai are waiting for the cars to present with the problem, and then doing the fix. -
Renault Modus - Faulty Renault Modus 1.5dci,Legal Advice required. 11 May 2016 (Forum)
Yes its used car,i have had them before most at least see a year out before a major repair or scrapping! The car has no invoices from the dealer,ie service or Mot,its all from the former owner. What would you say would be the next course of action? -
Audi a3 cabriolet - Audi a3 cabriolet..problems after problems 31 Jul 2015 (Forum)
Can anyone advise what course of action she can take..where she goes from here as dealers are not being reasonable or co-operative...oh forgot to say she spoke to dealership yesterday..and now they want her to return car...its miles away from us...they haven't offered to pay to take it or offere another car..just said they need to check repair done by audi... -

Overall, I?ll be keeping the car after the PCP expires in Dec, but I?ll be getting an aftermarket warranty and switching to an indie for servicing. Fingers crossed eh?
