  • 1998 Mondeo 1.8 - Coil pack or something else? 3 Jan 2012 (Forum)
As it warms up it gets a bit better, but isn't right. I have replaced plugs, which has helped (one was cracked). Swapping the HT leads made no difference. So my next suspect is the coil pack. Before I head down to the scrappy for a replacement, is there anything else I should be investigating? At the moment removing lead on 1 or 2 once running makes no difference.

  • Rover 200 (1995 - 1999) - 97 1.6 How was it running at all? 20 Jun 2008 (Forum)
I've just replaced the Dizzy cap on a colleagues 216 16v as it was running like a bag of spanners. When I took the cap off, the carbon brush literally crumbled into dust & the main coil lead snapped clean off at the cap end (it had gone a mouldy green colour). I replaced the coil lead as the other 4 looked brand new and the car now starts first time and runs nicely now, but I am amazed how the car was even running in the first place!!

This morning for the first couple of miles the same fault appeared, and it has been fine since, Today i got a new dissi cap. rotor arm, and h.t. leads including the one from the coil. The suppier sold me the wrong cap and rotor arm so i have only replaced the h.t. leads at this time, and the one from the coil. • basic car stereo questions 9 Aug 2003 (Forum)
I have been advised to connect the two front channels to a tweeter and a 3 way unit each in parallel but I have also read that this could lead to blown final stage transistors. I have also been advised to connect the two front channels to a tweeter and a 3 way unit each in series but I have also read that this might lead to problems as the speakers connected in series will have passive crossovers wired in them and conneting in series would lead to frequency confusion at both speakers.

  • 2005 Ford Focus 1.6 - core plugs leaking on cylinder head 20 May 2013 (Forum)
I know about the problem regarding the washers leaking onto the valve cover, but after fully drying the head, plugs and leads, this car ran like a sewing machine for 5 or so minutes then started to misfire. I removed No.3 lead and found water in this side again. It does look as though the core plug is leaking. Are these normal press fit core plugs or are they threaded?

  • Jeep Cherokee (1993 - 2001) - 95 2.5 Won't start 4 Dec 2008 (Forum)
Have traced the problem to the distributor, changed cap and arm but it appears that the problem is on the lt side. Lots of welly from the coil, big sparks, but no welly through the cap to the ht leads. changed all leads, but no difference. Traced 3 wires to the dizzy, black w/ purple +11 volts with ignition on and 2 orange w/black which seem to do nothing any suggestions would be most gratefully received.
