Hi all, in the past few months i have had 3 or 4 ''coolant low' warning lights, but each time i top up, i have no problem for a few weeks! manual model Today it was the RED light, when i stopped the coolant was fairly well spread, all over the place under the bonnet, obviously a pressure build up, i have pics but dont know how to upload! -
Ford Focus - Temperature Guage issues - ford focus 26 May 2012 (Forum)
I discovered my coolant reservoir was completely empty and we had a leak in the system which turned out to be some cracked housing. This was replaced along with the thermometer and coolant replaced. After a day the temp guage kept shooting to red. -
Ford Focus 1.8 petrol 2003 - ford focus - please diagnose my leak!! 23 Aug 2011 (Forum)
i pulled over straight away, which fortunately was next to a service station. checking under the bonnet the coolant level was right down, so i topped it up with water just to get me home. fortunately i made it back home driving very carefully, warning lights still on, but temperature back down to normal i checked the coolant level again when i got home (about 30 mins later) and it was nearly all gone. -
Mazda MPV 2002 - Discovered fault after 3 weeks, where do I stand. 5 May 2010 (Forum)
All was well until yesterday when we couldn't get any warm air from the heater. I checked the coolant level and found the header tank empty and it took a litre to refill, after which we started to get warm air back through the heater - obviously there wasn't sufficient coolant in the system to feed the heater matrix. -
Rover 200 (1995 - 1999) - 1998 1.4 - 214 overheating - help! 5 Dec 2008 (Forum)
I switched the engine off to give it time to cool down but then it took a while to start again. When I got home and let the car cool down I opened the bonnet and realised that the coolant was empty. I filled this up and the car was then running fine...... until a couple of days ago. The same thing happened to me again and when i looked under the bonnet the coolant was empty again. -

Audi A3 2015. 2.0 TDI - TDI 184 main fan comes on a lot, where is CTS? 24 Oct 2023 (Forum)
Never overheats, temp gauge rises to the middle and stays there! My mechanic read the codes and said Coolant temp sensor no.2 shows no reading, and is U/S! I have bought both CTS anyway, PN 059919501a, the smaller one, and the other, PN 8170794RMP Where are these located, and are they easy to swap out? -
Ford cmax 1.6 tdci 2011 - Cmax over cooling 28 Dec 2022 (Forum)
My cmax coolant reaches 85c eventually on a run then drops back to 60 it will not reach proper operating temperature without alot of revs. If I turn off the heater in the car it will then work OK until I turn it back on. -

What's happened to weekly/monthly quick checks? 28 Nov 2016 (Forum)
In my residential area and even at petrol stations I hardly EVER now see 1) Oil being checked with dipstick etc 2) Coolant/windscreen water being topped up 3) Tyre pressures being checked 4) Car being washed. 5) I was going to add that it is also very rare to see a car bonnet UP! Most cars I see are fairly new, some luxury, many 4x4's all with, I suspect, long service intervals. -

focus mk1 1800 petrol zetec - timing belt and waterpump change 20 May 2016 (Forum)
Hi. Think the waterpump has gone and Im dripping coolant by the OSF wheel. I have asked for a few quotes and they seem to think they dont need to take the timing belt off ( I had it changed 8/10 k ago about 18 months ago ) to change the pump but everywhere else I look tells me the pump runs off the timing belt? -
Ford Galaxy 2011 (1.6 Eco) - Wet drivers side footwell 19 Apr 2016 (Forum)
Thought I had checked the scuttles were OK by pouring water down the windscreen, which drains out (both sides) under the wheel arches. Are there other drains I have missed or another explanation? Coolant and washer levels are stable, so not coming in through those areas - appears to be only when the weather is wet. Any help greatly appreciated, otherwise it is likely an expensive trip to the Ford garage. -
Ford Focus - Heater matrix pipe joint leak 25 Apr 2015 (Forum)
My son has a leak on the pipe joint between the heater matrix and the pipe that comes through the bulkhead from the engine. The engine coolant drips into the driver's foot well. The seal is made with a rubber O ring and a plastic clip that is locked round the joint. We removed the old O ring which appeared to have partly disintgrated. -
A4 1.8TFSI, 59 reg - overheating engine 15 Nov 2013 (Forum)
Pulled car over & allowed to cool down. Opened overflow/expansion tank, turned over engine & left running, air bubbles/bubbling in coolant so water pump must be working? If not that, has it blown the head gasket, hence the over heating or is there something else wrong? Car was serviced 100 miles earlier by Audi franchise dealer... Any thoughts advice welcomed as would be estimates on repairs? -
Mitsubishi Carisma 1600cc year 2000 - Cooling fan coming on now and again 3 Jan 2013 (Forum)
Hi all My cooling fan been running now and then during the colder weather recently, usually when the air-con is on.Is this to keep the air-con 'bits' cool with it running so much ? The temp gauge sits plum in the middle as it's always done. No loss of coolant - car runs great - mpg OK - compressor kicks in and out as it should (is that right?) as the RPM'S rise and fall when I'm sat at lights etc - Any advice would be welcome Mark 193 -
Ford Focus - 07 1.6 petrol focus temperature gauge reading low 13 Oct 2011 (Forum)
I drove it in mixed traffic, a roads and motorways for about 30 miles and the temperature gauge didn't reach the mid-point. It sat consistently at about 80% of the mid-point. The coolant levels are fine, the car ran well, the radiator was hot at the end of the journey and the car warmed up quickly. Is this likely to be an issue? I was thinking thermostat but it warmed up really quickly and the gauge position was consistent. -
Renault Megane - Radweld - slow radiator leak, advice please 21 Jan 2011 (Forum)
Hi all Having replaced the radiator on my Y reg Megane after a smash with one from the breakers, I've noticed that the coolant drops from max to min over about a month. So far I've just kept topping it up and checking it regularly, but I was wandering if radweld or a similar radiator sealant would be worth trying? I have yet to find the point that its leaking from but there are no obvious leaks from hoses etc. -

Vauxhall Monaro (2004 - 2007) - Smile: you're on candid camera .... 11 Nov 2009 (Forum)
Interesting video here ... a Monaro owner took his car to his VX dealer to fix a coolant leak. The mechanics took it for a test drive to see if the leak was fixed. What the garage didn't realise was the owner has a Roadhawk video & GPS recording device fitted, which when examined later, showed the 'test drive' included some highly illegal driving, with speeds of over 125mph.
