  Thinking of adding water temp (the existing is not direct reading), oil pressure, oil temp and boost pressure, on "A" pillar housing(s). Yes, it's a strange choice of car, let's say it's a practise run.... Where best to insert the senders/sensors, either specific to this engine should anyone reading this be familiar with it, and are there any senders already extant which could be exploited/piggy-backed (I assume the ECU receives some of those values anyway).

  Hi I'm having problems with my mk4. It had an engine change as the cam snapped in 2 place and now it's not running right. Problems are:- 1) if you tap the acceleratior when still the idel revs go up and down and then stall. 2) big puffs of black smoke The only fault code that it keeps bringing up is :-  Code P0380 – Glow plug/Heater Circuit A  I would appreciate any help.

  The battery is OK, current drain is acceptable when engine is turned off, it's charging OK with the engine running. I've read elsewhere that a software upate has solved this problem for other people, but my dealer doesn't know of such a fix. Has anyone else experience of this starting problem, and have they heard of / used this software update to solve the problem successfully, please?

   vvtli 190 celica 2002.I have a problem when the engine gets warm, when I bring the car down to tick over,it revs at 1500 and blips the throttle to 2000,on off, like someone revving it for you, it then will suddenly change, drop down to 900 and runs sweet, few minutes later it's at 1500 again revving to 2000, could this be a  problem with the coolant temperature sensor, iacv? Maf? Can't find. Any vacuum leaks as such, please give me your knowledge.

  hi  my nissan  with the m9r engine. has smoke coming from the filler cap and dip stick what happened was the gear box went  a water hose  came off because it hadnt been put on properly  ,the van was run for abit with out water  new gear box in now not using water but smoking from filler cap runing fine  i dont seeit being the head gasket with no lose of water or signs of oil mixing a any sujestions wecome

  VW no longer make the original part so I can only get at 4 bar one (the guy at the dealership said it'll be alright, but seemed unsure). According to the Haynes manual, the pressure runs at 2.5 bar. The fuel filter doesn't have a built in regulator...that's on the pump in the tank. I was just wondering if the higher 4 bar rating will cause any problems with fuel pressure etc.?

  Seems to be either something on the exhaust or coming from under the shielding of one of the pipes running next to the exhaust (passenger side i think) - stopping and turning off car for 5 minutes allows me to continue with no smoke for a while?? 2007 Vectra 1.9Tdi Estate Any ideas?

  Just renewing my Tax Disc online it occured to me that the poorer amongst us running older cars and without the readys are somewhat penalised. eg a £205 renewal is over 10% more over the year if payed 6 monthly and you can add £5 more if needing to pay by credit card - Thats a lot of admin, which post aside is not much more than zero if paying online.

   Car looks clean but just wondered if there's anything in particular I should look out for? Plan is to keep it and run it to death. If anyone has an idea of service intervals/cost at main agents I'd also welcome that as I've been away all week and haven't had time to call and find out.  I know a very good MB Indy in my area that I'll probably use if they are significantly cheaper.

  So have a mondeo with little history on the car, non stater (well runs for a second or two) List of DTC's present (autoboss) are as follows :- p0098 IATS2 Circuit high input p0087 Fuel rail/system pressure to low p0299 T/S charger underboost P0089 Fuel rail pressure sensor circuit malfunction P0113 Intake air temp circuit high input p0003 G SIGNAL - no G Signal any help appreciated

  v=NV3_TYoWzAs this will show you how to reset the flashing DPF for free. DPF solid is a DPF problem, giving the car a good run down teh motorway should clear it. If not then it's going to cost :(

  Could I ask what is the purpose of a V rated tyre over a H rated one for normal road use? I have a Focus 1.6 currently running on V rated tyres.   Looking at them, I'm going to replace all four, but I fail to understand why I need to replace them with V rather that H rated tyres, as the size/profile is available in both.

  Hi guys a follow up with my car yesterday I reset the ecu and I didn't use the car for about 2hrs after I did reset when driving the car with spanner went of then on way home after shopping (I left car running while misses went shopping ) the abs light went out and then the traction control light went out This morning all warning lights out and all clocks dails gauges working Any body know why this has happened (Some one said it could be a bad earth some were)

  Just bought 2nd hand car for my daughter there is no mention in owners manual how often the air con should be used especially in winter> Read HJ advice should be on all year and run on max cold in winter months for 10 mins but surely this defeats object of buying city car to great mpg ??? Any advice from aygo owners and C1 and peugoet 107

  Car was running rough, struggling to start and had several codes pointing to injector problems.. Ran a leak-off test, 1 and 3 were pi**ing out diesel. Just changed both injectors, engine started, then coded injectors and engine hasn't started since?

  I know it has a dull image, but I believe the running costs, economy and insurance will be low on this model? Theoretically it is a raised fiesta right? Also I can pick a decent low mileage used one for a small budget that I have at the moment.

  my battery keeps going flat when left overnight or for a few hours ..nothing obivous left on car runs well with no other problems ..halfords thought it might be the starter motor causing it but wouldnt put there neck and say for definate ...the battery is discharging as soon as the engine stops ..they put a volt meter on it and you could see it dropping quite quickly when in the car so something is drawing the jiuce ...they said to take to main honda dealer as they will have the equipment to trace but anybody any other ideas ??

  Car starts from cold runs for three seconds then wont start again . Bump start not enough to start it but towing for 400 yards turning ignition on and off it starts then may work all day . But sometimes just wont start till towed   HELP Fault codes says egr fault so fitted a new one .

  Been in the garage practically every month for the last year. But I love the cabin size etc Need a 7 seater for family/shared school runs but also one that's presentable for taking clients/work colleagues in. 4x4 desirable as we tow a kayak trailer from time to time. I also like the 'height' of a 4x4 type car. Considering xc90 or x5.
• Wierd grinding noise 6 May 2013 (Forum)
  Hello Everyone,  Im having an intermittent fault occur on my Fiat Grande Punto when I try to start the car. It is a grinding sound similar to that of turning the key when the engine is already running. Its had a new starter motor and no change. Happens seemingly randomly when attempting to start. Can see no pattern to when it's happening or why.  Heres a link to youtube to give you a better idea of the sound, its not the best quality video but hopefully it will give you a rough idea.
