  • Poor turbo power - Nissan 2.0 td 5 May 2003 (Forum)
Car is V reg with only 19000 miles. Turbo boost is pretty non-existent, particularly noticeable changing from 1st to 2nd - unless a lot of revs are used it goes backwards! My friendly mech has covered all of the usual suspects without joy.
  • Microcar Virgo 25 Apr 2003 (Forum)
A friend of mine owns one of these little tiny-engined cars.Has anyone heard of any problems with them. His car is two years old with quite low mileage. He has had a few niggly little problems but the biggest was when the handbrake assembly completely detached from the "fibreglass" bodywork. He called the main dealer but was told that the warranty only covers the engine.Due to this he did a repair himself with sealant etc.
  • Xsara Temperature 18 Feb 2003 (Forum)
Mine runs at 75C; I'd have thought it should be higher, but the garage tell me that this engine 'is designed to run cool'. they also say that the overall fuel consumption of 43mpg is 'about right'. the car is 13 months old, covered 13k miles. Maybe things will change after it's had it's first service next weekend.......?
  • Rear wheel drive tyre wear 21 Sep 2001 (Forum)
I check the pressures weekly and they are always OK. The tyres were on the vehicle when I bought it and I have covered 25k on them. Is this kind of wear pattern normal on a rear wheel drive car? Thanks

  • Car Hire From Glasgow Prestwick Airport 7 Jun 2008 (Forum)
I am going to be in Scotland for approximately 7 days in about a months time and will be needing to hire a car from Prestwick Airport. I have never previously hired a car and have heard numerous horror stories about additional excess charges etc. Has anyone got any recommendations for the best company to hire from, additional insurance cover and any tactics for negotiating the best possible price.

However on the morning of 02/02/15 my partner came to start the car and it made a strange noise. He stopped trying to start the engine immediately. He called the garage where we bought it from and explained what had happened which is 47.7 miles away. (we have only covered 97 miles total).

  • Land Rover Discovery 3 (2004 - 2009) - Mis-fuelling 28 Dec 2009 (Forum)
My wife put £15 of petrol in my diesel Disco this afternoon then drove 15 miles before it stopped turning over. Roadside assistance was covered by LR (operated by AA), but wanted to take my car to neares LR dealer, no doubt to replace high pressure pump at cost of £800+ to protect warranty. Have had the car low-loaded to my home. Any advice on what I should do next?
  • Volkswagen Golf III (1992 - 1997) - 94 1.9 Noisy power steering 10 Apr 2009 (Forum)
I replaced the belt and retensioned after a week, and also bled the system. The noise is present without the engine running but with the car jacked up. I've replaced the fluid in the reservoir and this seems to have improved matters. The car has covered 155k miles. Grateful any guidance. Cheers
  • Renault Clio III (2005 - 2009) - 08 1.5 Steering column vibration 18 Nov 2008 (Forum)
Hi All My steering column has started juddering whilst the car is idling. (It probably does it whilst on the move, but the road surface hides this.) I'm SURE that it wasn't like this before. The car is two months old from brand new, and has covered 3,500 miles.

  • VW warranty issue 29 Apr 2006 (Forum)
Some of the 'soft feel' plastic trim on the driver's door is starting to break up (peel off). The car is less than three years old and still under VW warranty. However VW are saying that this is wear and tear and so not covered. The car has had a gentle life and has not yet done 36000 miles. Any comments on how I can pursue this.
  • economical driving 31 Jul 2003 (Forum)
yesterday i took my astra 1.4 to manchester airport, I spent £6.50 on fuel,72p a litre and i covered 98 miles till the fuel warning light came on, on the motorway i was travelling an average 62 m.ph, i reckon for a petrol car with four adults my car gave about 45 mpg, question to you guys is it more economical to drive at a constant 60 than go flat out 80-90 mph, saving time, but would i still be driving economically at faster speed?
  • Vauxhall Astra 1.6 - Spark Plugs And Coil Pack 31 Oct 2024 (Forum)
And because I went straight through to the AA using my own policy, they won’t cover any works done by them. My fault entirely I guess but you don’t always remember these things at 6am on a dark car journey with limited internet access and stress! My question is , does anyone think the coil pack and spark plugs would have been covered by the warranty or is it likely they wouldn’t have been?
