Peugeot 306 (1993 - 2001) - 1995 XUD9 1.9TD Lucas to Bosch fuel pump? 19 Apr 2008 (Forum)
I have a 1995 306 STDT sedan, with an XUD9 engine and a lucas fuel pump. I'm considering replacing it with a bosch pump (from a scrapyard or similar probably!), for better reliability with biofuels, but how much of a job is this? Will I need to remove the cambelt to do it? -
Older car fuel consumption stats? 12 Sep 2007 (Forum)
Could anyone advise where i can find the govt fuel consumption figures for older cars, ie approx 1994 through to 2001. The Urban, 56mph and 75mph type figures. In the market for an older 4*4 and want to make some comparisons. I am a new member of the back room and look forward to your input Thanks in advance Mark W -
Xsara 2.0 HDI fuel problem 10 Jul 2007 (Forum)
Anyone come across a problem with the 2.0 hdi citroen xsara (2001) engine whereby the engine is prone be to very slow at pulling away in first gear and intermittent non starting. I thought it was the fuel pump as is the usual culprit on this model so had that changed recently and the problem was better but seems to be still there, the lack of power low down under accelleration has never gone away?? -
extra weight = extra fuel? 1 Jun 2007 (Forum)
Im just curious to know how much weight in the boot would make a significant difference to fuel economy I carry a tool box around (always have) with around 15-20kgs and lots of people have said it would make a fair bit of difference. I cant see it myself but just wondered if anyone knew how much extra weight would start to inrease consumption -

Fuel price differential 17 Oct 2006 (Forum)
I've never been able to understand people going seriously out of their way to pay 1p less per litre for fuel, but this afternoon the BP garage on one side of the road was selling diesel for 94.9p per litre (and it's on the way out of a retail park), and the Shell garage on the other side had it at 89.9. 22.5 p per gallon less! -
Clio Dci - Changing Fuel Filter question 8 Apr 2006 (Forum)
Whilst servicing an 03 plate Clio Dci, I was wondering how you bleed the air when changing the fuel filter or do you simply prime the filter using hand pump and the pump's then self bleeding. I'm new to this new Dci setup and was concerned about anything going wrong. Any advice would be appreciated. -
Fuel Additives & MOT Emissions 24 Nov 2005 (Forum)
Apologies if this has been done before. If fuel additives (redex etc) claim to reduce emissions, will they help on your MOT test at all?? Seems too good to be true to me. It's a 1992 1108cc phase 1 Renault Clio- failed on CO. Furthermore, it's about the only non-cat clio- the test centre will know this won't they? -

Fuel Consumption 9 Aug 2005 (Forum)
I recently discovered a little display option on my dash that gives average mpg current mpg (that one is depressing usually) distance to empty This is what comes from having a mobile computer for a car, I suppose. An old fashioned fuel gauge I could figure out and pretty much understood how it measured the contents of the tank. So can someone explain in simple English, how all the new stuff is measured and calculated? -
Peugeot 406 hdi fuel leak 27 Jun 2005 (Forum)
It seems to only happen above 2500rpm (80mph+)and apart from this the engine runs fine. I have had the injector unions checked and changed the fuel supply/return pipes just in front of the cylineer head, where the leak appears to be. could it be a partially blocked return pipe ? thanks Simon -
Fuel enhancers 26 Feb 2002 (Forum)
Hi all a quick question, i recently used "ZX1 Extralube" in my fuel tank (stupidly putitng in 100ml instead of 50ml) since which the car has lost power on acceleration. This is an intermittent problem which comes and goes, i am still on the same tank of diesel too. -
Fuel Consumption Meters 14 Aug 2001 (Forum)
Can anyone tell me how the meters that lots of cars have now, apparently displaying the instantaneous mpg, work? Do they actually measure the rate of fuel supply to the engine, at a given instant, compare that figure with the road speed, and then calculate the mpg at that moment? Or is it simply recording some other engine indicator, eg inlet manifold pressure, and re-calibrating this into a notional mpg? -
Fuel price 11 Nov 2021 (Forum)
Saw diesel at £1.68 a litre at Fleet services yesterday....ouch. Remember queuing up to buy petrol when it went up to 50p a gallon. -

LPG 15 Jun 2005 (Forum)
With fuel prices as they are, why are there so few cars that can run on LPG? I know conversions are available on many but there are very few new cars that are bi-fuel. -
