  Gear Shift Indicator (GSI) This new feature helps the driver to adopt a more economical driving style by indicating the optimal gear to be selected, thereby ensuring the lowest possible fuel consumption and CO 2 emissions. The indicator is located in the odometer and consists of a rising vertical arrow indicating the best time to change gear. The driver, however, is responsible for following the system’s indications.

  All three Mazda MX-5s finish Britcar 24 hour race 3 Oct 2011 (News)
  The Mazda MX-5 GT car set the early pace, lapping the 3.6 mile Northamptonshire circuit in 2 minutes 22 seconds and proving a match for the Aston Martins, Porsches and Lotuses that have previously dominated the class. Early in the race an impact caused a fuel leak that necessitated a repair to the GT car's fuel cell, effectively putting the car out of contention for the race. Notwithstanding this setback the Mazda MX-5's honour was upheld by the remaining two cars.

  There were further upgrades to the drive belt pulley system, distributor, plus the inclusion of a stainless-steel fuel tank and rebuilt Muncie M21 four-speed manual gearbox, as well as an aluminium prop shaft. Work didn’t stop there and with plans for decent quarter-mile times, the suspension, springs, anti-roll bars and anti-tramp bars were either added, rebuilt or upgraded in a bid to keep the axle located under hard acceleration. Increased power meant better brakes were required to a vacuum servo was fitted along with disc brakes all round, with the front discs grooved and cross-drilled for maximum performance.

  .  In 1993, the GTi was made even more entertaining with the adoption of the multi-point fuel injection system that had been introduced for the 200-series, which shaved the 0-60 time to just 8.5 seconds - quicker than a Golf GTi.  Like all Metros, the GTi was great until it rusted away, rear sills and wheelarches first, into oblivion.

  They're terrific cars to drive, with a fabulous ride and handling combination that really does give the best of both worlds - a supremely luxurious car, but also one that's easy to press on with. Plus, while no Jaguar will be a paragon of fuel economy, the 3.2 is at least relatively sensible over long distances, with MPG in the high 20s achievable on a run. Droopy headlining aside (they all do that, sir...), the interior looks to be in stunning condition, while the optional 'Dimple' brushed alloy wheels appear pretty decent.

  Fare payments will be contactless while a  retractable integrated ramp should make it quicker and easier for wheelchair users to get in and out. The TX's hybrid powertrain will cover 400 miles on a single tank of fuel, including an all-electric range of 80 miles with zero emissions. The taxi is powered by an electric motor and 1.5-litre petrol engine and can travel from London to Manchester and back again without needing to stop to refuel.

The angular nose sliced through wind resistance, while the biggest innovation was the 100's use of flush-fitting glass, a feature adopted by practically every car manufacturer since.

  It was never a huge seller, no doubt down to the dowdy image and Honda Accord underpinnings, but like all 600s, the Ti was a much better car than its sober outward appearance would suggest. Driven sensibly, it also offered better fuel economy than the basic 618, which made it an attractive proposition for fleet managers who wanted to incentivise their field staff. Visually, the clues to the cars potential came in the form of its unique alloys, front fogs and figure-hugging ‘Silverstone’ half leather seats, identical to those in the 800 Vitesse.

  Being the SE model, the car has the double sun-roof fitted, which no longer works. There are a few other electrical issues as well – like a faulty bulb behind the fuel gauge and a heated rear screen that only works intermittently. Body-wise, there’s some wear and tear – the worst of which looks like the dent on the offside rear quarter panel.

  The suspension was rebuilt with new bushes while the brakes and fuel system were also renewed. The engine and gearbox also received some TLC. All the police features were restored and work: radio (which cannot be used for legal reasons so is not wired up), stop signs, sirens and blue lights were restored and work.

  With fully independent suspension, a close-ratio gearbox with straight cut gears, and the first direct fuel injection system with fourstroke engine ever offered in a production automobile, the 300 SL was a technological tour-de-force. When introduced in coupé form to the US market at the 1954 New York Auto Show, it became an instant sensation.

  Standard equipment includes, electric sunroof, electric windows front and rear, electric door mirrors, central locking, remote boot and fuel filler flap release as well as alloy wheels (that do look like wheeltrims). It's been recently serviced, with new cam belt, rear brake shoes and wheel cylinders, radiator, thermostat and housing, exhaust centre silencer, track rod ends and front tyres.

  Graham Hill's Lotus 49 to sell at Goodwood Festival of Speed 24 Feb 2014 (News)
  It was then sold to Swedish privateer Joakim Bonnier ‘R8’ retired from the 1969 German GP due to a fuel leak. For 1970 the car was sold again to Dave Charlton who used it to clinch the first two of his six consecutive South African Formula 1 Championship titles, 1970-75. Lotus 49 ‘R8’ won nine qualifying rounds in Dave Charlton’s 1970 campaign, and four more in 1971.
