  • Heated front screen 1 Mar 2004 (Forum)
I have a ford scorpio with a tinted heated front screen, it is fitted as standard to the car. I have a small crack in the windscreen, if it failed the mot on this, would my fully comp insurance cover the replacement without effecting the no claims bonus. I know these screens are very expensive, only thing mentioned in the policy is the standard excess payment to replace the screen. anyone had to claim on these ?
  • Paintwork scratch: vandals or natural? 15 Aug 2003 (Forum)
There were some yoofs hanging around my car last night (3AM). When I got into work this morning I noticed a 6inch scratch in the paintwork below the passenger door. The scratch was covered by a film of black grease so I am tempted to think it was not done last night.
  • Insurance 26 Dec 2001 (Forum)
My car insurance will be due early in Jan. I am a wrinkly with full prot n/c bonus. Comprehensive cover for owner only needed (i.e. one driver). Have insured through Royal Sun Alliance for some years, by far the best quote.
  • Classic Car Insurance - Major Hassle! 13 Feb 2005 (Forum)
I would then claim a refund if/when I sold the older car in a month or two's time. The broker agreed this and took a credit card payment for the additional amount. Anyway, this morning I rang the broker because there was an error on the cover note for the new car.
  • Insurance cover demands - Am I dreaming? 20 Jul 2002 (Forum)

  • Alfa 156 wipers? 9 Mar 2003 (Forum)
Also it was not covered by the warranty. After some phoning around they found that if I replaced the motor and the wiper linkage/assembly then they could source one in seven days but it would cost me £20 more. Obviously I had to accept as my car was off the road.
  • Insurance for exporting car 2 Dec 2011 (Forum)
But I've read the terms and conditions for the short term insurance companies and the ones that do apply cover in Europe only do so if the start and end of the journey is in the UK.  I've tried searching Google for a company that sells what I need but just couldn't find one.

If so, then surely when it comes to selling said car, although the running gear will have covered the accumulated mileage, the engine wouldn't have.
  • How much is it worth? 26 Jan 2005 (Forum)
Hi Roomers, My fiancee is considering selling her car, to free up some cash for a house deposit, and i need a price for her car.... 2003 (53 Plate) Vauxhall Corsa 1.2 16v Design 3 door in black sapphire pearlescent. She has owned the car since new and has only covered 2000 miles.
  • Theft Insurance 17 Mar 2003 (Forum)
This is a question about a general principle, I dont have full details as the incident happened 200 miles from here, so I can't look at the policy. My daughter's car (a J reg Nova) was stolen at the weekend. It's since been found, having crashed into another car. The culprit got away. My daughter's coverage is TPFT only and my questions are: Is she covered for the damage?
  • Sci-Fi Cars 8 Feb 2003 (Forum)
Caught the end of some documentary somewhere in the never regions of sky the other day. It covered self driving cars for motorway use, eg cars driving at 100mph+ speeds within feet of each other moving apart to filter in new cars and closing up gaps when cars left. Who here would be interested in cars that did that, forgeting about all the logistical problems.
  • New car query, economy related 3 Nov 2012 (Forum)
Good evening fellow motorists. I have come to seek advice as I am after a new car, as my current Mitsubishi Galant much as love it, is not the most fuel efficient! I am looking at a 7/8 year old diesel or petrol hatchback, preferably in the 1.4l category which achieves high mpg figures I cover around 200 miles a week mostly on A roads and Motorways with little 'urban' driving.
  • removing mould from seats and belts 5 Mar 2007 (Forum)
Looking for some advice. Looking at a car at the weekend. The car itself was fine no issues. The only problem was the fact that the car has sat on a driveway for the last 6 months due to the previous owner passing away. All the seat belts where covered in a greeny blue mould and the front seat had some patches.
  • BMW 540i 2002 model 2 Nov 2006 (Forum)
The car has only covered 40,000 km, the car is run in the middle east where the ambient temperature is 30-40c for most of the year. The car generally runs well, no misfires, offers strong acceleration etc etc.
  • Audi TT - 18 mths old - corroded disks 23 Feb 2006 (Forum)
An Audi TT with 14K on the clock has corroded front disks - not worn but rusted and as such give grinding noises. According to the Audi dealer who sold the car the disks are not covered by warranty but will need to be paid for - disks and fitting inc VAT = £200 approx - the existing pads are fine and not needing replaced - the car is not thashed but driven as one would expect from a performance car.
  • Valuation required 4 Feb 2006 (Forum)
Hi, I know there are the guides for prices, but I was looking to get a 'real life' indication from you guys on what money I should be looking for on my wifes car. Looks like we could end up trading it in as she can't do without a car (work needs)... Car is a Vauxhall Corsa 1999 on a 'V' plate. 1.2 16v Club. 5dr in Silver.. very nice car and has covered 25k miles.
  • Cheapest car rental I've ever had (USA) 28 Nov 2005 (Forum)
Well, Just booked a rental car for use while in Arizona for a couple of days. Got a rate of $14.97 per day from Travelocity. Cant beat that but I understand that they usually get you on the insurances/CDW etc. Fortunately my US issued credit cards cover me for all that nonsense if I use the card to pay for the car.
  • GAP insurance - worth it? 11 Dec 2003 (Forum)
What do you all think? Recently collected new car (MR2, it's lovely!) and the salesman is pushing GAP insurance. I won't bore you with the details but the car is effectively not financed and Tesco will replace the car like-for-like if written off within 12 months.
  • Car for 1000 miles a week 1 Jul 2002 (Forum)
I'm considering getting a car to do a 1000 mile a week commute until a new house is purchased. Current ideas are Pegeot 405 diesel or Citroen ZX diesel - early 90s for under a grand. I don't want to spend more than £1000 but it would be an advantage if it had some resale value or could tow a 1000 kg trailer / car combo.
