  • Volkswagen Golf VI (2009 - ) - An expensive successor..... 24 Oct 2008 (Forum)
It may be, arguably, a much better car but my goodness you have certainly got to fork out the money and this is for a car that is supposed to be cheaper to manufacture.
  • Gaping mouths 16 Apr 2008 (Forum)
It seems to be something about the swage lines along the sides. Am I being too sensitive?-Why did my old Bullnose Morris radiator make the look so sweet?-and why does the old Bugatti radiator look so "right"?
  • Mercedes Benz E-Class W210 (1995 - 2002) - E220 cdi 2002 Poor Starting especially when hot. 12 Nov 2007 (Forum)
It broke down this week and as my wife is a nurse needs to be reliable. I have since purchased and fitted four new glow plugs but the old ones looked like new when removed. I also recollect finding a can of Bradex easy start under the seat after purchasing the car !! Any ideas would be appreciated as my wife is panicking and wants her old car back!!
  • Ford Sierra Sapphire RS Cosworth 4x4 8 Dec 2006 (Forum)
One of my brothers has just purchased one of these beasts. It's a one owner 1991 H reg example with 76k on the clock, full Ford service record, all old MOT's & tax discs, along with the original purchase receipt and all the service receipts. I've not yet seen the car in the flesh but from what he's told me it sounds like it's mint for 15 years old.
  • battery draining - 1998 Fiat Punto 22 Oct 2006 (Forum)
helo all, iv got a `98` punto and the battery went flat overnite with no warning,it allways span the engine over fine before then. I bought a new battery and the old one was the original so at 8 years old it was gona die anyway. A month later and after not driving the car for 2 days the battery was barely starting the car so i took it for a good run (nite time-lights and heater fan on) and disconected the battery overnite...the battery was fine next day so im presuming the alternator is fine and i must have something draining it with ignition off.
  • Renault Clio - What is a coil? 16 Mar 2005 (Forum)
Although I say joke, I was lucky in that Renault replaced the part for free which I find admirable, what is a coil and what function does it play in the engine? Is it normal for a car of only 3 years old to have this and will this cause any further cost in my part in future. The car has only done 16,000 miles on the clock. Please kindly advise me. Thanks Paul
  • Air Filter woes 7 Feb 2003 (Forum)
OK - I decided to get my car serviced on the cheap and got a Kwik Fit oil change - which was fine - and bought an air filter out of Halfords. Alas the air filter was about 2mm too big (Halfords patter part just the wrong size) so I had to put the old one back and the air filter 'box' in my old Japanese hatch needed a fair bit of pushing and shoving to get the filter back in.
  • N.A - Tax MOT and Insurance for classics 14 Dec 2024 (Forum)
A while ago I met some one with a 37 year old A reg Citeron He said he paid something like 130 odd quid for his insurance. I asked him why so low and he said because clasics insurance is much cheaper. Wish I took his number down now coz I did not ask him the name of the insurance company He also said that once the car becomes 40 years old it is MOT exempt Ayone any insight on this please?

  • Riding a Moped 12 Jan 2017 (Forum)
Looking at the DVLA categories AM has max speed of 28mph and P, max speed of 31mph. So if a 16 year old who has passed CBT and has an AM provisional or a car driver who has full AM under grandfather rights ride a sports moped like a Fizzie ?. What DVLA category is a Fizzie or similar ?
  • Any - MoT 3 Aug 2016 (Forum)
A few weeks ago I put my car in for the annual M o T test, it passedO.K with a few advisories ,one of which was windscreen view obstruction. This consisted of the mounting for the sat-nav which was as low as I could get it slightly to the right of the center of the screen, the old road tax disc mounting, and an old MoT pass sticker about 5 cms. square in the top left hand corner of the screen.

  • any - sorn problem 5 Aug 2012 (Forum)
My son is trying to SORN his car which is still insured (to the end of the week) and taxed but he will cash that in. Both on-line and automated DVLA systems refuse to accept his data. All we can think is that the V5 which is only 2 years old is still the old blue type - although DVLA site says they are still valid.

  • BMW - BMW Depreciation question 14 Aug 2008 (Forum)
Possible a 320 CI but more likely a 3 door 1 Series 118SE. What percentage of list price should I expect to pay for one six months old and 12 months old assuming 10K miles per year? (Her previous car had a "mishap" at the local garage when in for a minor repair this week - needs a new bonnet, windscreen, and the roof is less than perfect!
  • Crazy insurance prices 8 Oct 2005 (Forum)
It's costing me 280 a year to insure an old banger worth 200 quid, third party fire and theft. I phoned up to ask them how much extra it would be if I changed cars to a R reg Audi S8 4.2, which is listed as Group 20. An extra 270 quid. I asked the dude to check his price three times, as I thought there must be something wrong.

But how much roughly will I need, and is it easy enough to do off my driveway without access under the car or should I just take it to the garage.
