  • dash cams? yes or no? 23 May 2017 (Forum)
We want decent kit but not an installation that requires an auto electrician. Preferably the power supply and the camera should be removable, quickly and easily if required. I know several forum members have them already and would appreciate some advice on which type would be suitable. Cheers Concrete
  • Any - Gadgets on some new cars 24 Sep 2016 (Forum)
Just had a week with a brand new Volvo XC90 as a courtesy car. The number of driving aids is mindblowing from blind spot assistance, all round cameras, automatic parking...daren't try that...mirrors that dip themselves, headlights turning round corners, lane assist, adaptive cruise control, do we need all this stuff? Well as a confirmed Luddite I now have have to say these aids are very useful and have somewhat changed my mind.
  • What car? Automatic 5 door hatch low annual miles 18 May 2016 (Forum)
I would like a hatch back with an automatic gearbox , and good reversing cameras and parking sensors, sat nav as standard . Nothing too low . I do short journeys so am I better petrol or diesel? Looking to do a pcp deal. I'm looking at second hand I think as I want to pay sub £300 per month.
  • Vauxhall Corsa - See Video Horrible rattle on startup 5 Jun 2013 (Forum)

  • Recommend a Sat Nav? 10 Nov 2012 (Forum)
My SatNav got nicked the other week before I had even used it, so I would be interested in any recommendations before I replace it; I plan to use it as back up for some long distance, house-hunting trips and my only criteria are that it is easy to use, accurate and has speed camera warnings built in at purchase, as my broadband is too slow to download anything (and I am a technophobe!) Would rather not spend too much and not bothered about live features- I dont think. Thanks
  • Flashed at traffic lights 23 Aug 2011 (Forum)
The lights turned to amber, at that very moment the van driver in the oncoming traffic decides they can beat the red light and accelerates. There is a double flash of the traffic camera before I can  cross the junction. I would be grateful for any feedback.

  • Lefortovo Tunnel. Tighten your seatbelts 6 Feb 2010 (Forum)
    When the temperature reaches -32 degrees like it did this winter, the road freezes and the result is the attached video taken during a single day with the tunnel cameras. Enjoy. video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-4847819447844455299 {Add http://http:// to the start of the clip and copy / paste into your usual internet browser.}
  • Do police really need a reason to stop you? 14 Sep 2009 (Forum)
One of the policemen spots the driver is not wearing a seatbelt, which, we are told, is the reason they need to pull the driver over. Is this right, or was it just going through the motions for the cameras? If anyone else saw the programme, it was the guy who had recently run out of petrol and who eventually blew just under the limit.
  • The "Predator" Trike. 6 Sep 2009 (Forum)
Technically a trike I suppose but it was a monster and appeared to have either two medium sized engines or one V8. Bright yellow and gleaming. I'm sure it said "Predator" on the side. So cross my camera was in the other car I didn't stop. I'm told it might be a regular around those parts. Anyone know any more about it? Toad or Pat L perhaps?? I'm sure even Growler might have been pleased to have that machine for a few days.
  • What next to fleece us and control we motorists ? 8 Sep 2008 (Forum)
Congestion charges, cameras everywhere, records held on computers internationally, etc etc. what is next? I hear Gps systems to track us and charge for mileage done are muted. I know some transport firms track their vehicles to keep an eye on the driver by Gps.

  • Flashed at 20 mph 27 Jul 2007 (Forum)
Today morning I have been flashed by a speed camera from front while doing 20 mph in a 30 mph zone (in Luton town)! I am completely surprised, how can it be possible? There was quite a heavy traffic and it wasn't even possible to travel at 30 mph.
  • Off on hols 25 May 2007 (Forum)
Anyone any tips this year on the state of l'autoroutes and does anyone know if a Citroen Jumper or Mercedes Vito is charged higher on the tolls than a standard car so we can budget accordingly? Already disabled the french camera bits on the TomTom and the vehicle is a LHD (pick up at Calais Ferryport) - we are crossing as foot passengers this time. Much obliged

i was going through loughborough yesterday afternoon and parked up just after the alan moss roundabout was a white van with 2 cameras pointing out the back, i drove on toward the layby and a cop was pulling vehicles over , upon inspection i noticed vans, one had DVLA another had fuel testing written on the side and for good measure two cops on 2x1,s (motorbikes) to catch the chavs who would panic and do a nigel mansell toward derby, it must cost 1000s to set something like that up
  • Speeder gets 22 mths for PtCoJustice 25 Feb 2007 (Forum)
Mandeep Singh Kohli, 29, gave officers the names of people living abroad when cars registered to his family firm were pictured by speed cameras. He had pleaded guilty earlier at Coventry Crown Court to perverting the course of justice. The court heard the deception had enabled him to escape a driving ban.

  • BBC1 Rogue Traders - did anyone see 6 Jul 2006 (Forum)
This was a truly appauling picture of the trade, with one guy who was filmed trying to 'elliminate' the camera crew by driving at them with a breakdown truck. I think this prog does a great job showcasing some of the undesirables in the trade community, and I can only hope that the breakdown guy gets charged with what looked to me like attempted murder.
  • So do you know all about.... 1 Jul 2006 (Forum)
Secondly the chap in his BMW who was constantly fiddling with the speed limiter cos he didn't want to get a speed ticket (had 6 points from one camera) and manually took it out of speed when needed, rather than touching the accelerator.
  • Driving with international driver 20 Aug 2005 (Forum)
My mate drove my car to the airport today as he is leaving the UK (he is driving on international driving license and insure to drive my car) I was in the passenger sit and he was flashed by the camera twice while passing a junction in Bristol just when the light changed. Will this affect my provisional license as the car is registered to me and insured in my name (I am still driving with my international American license) I don't mind paying his fine as It will end up in my mailbox but I am worry about my provisional.
