Talking of eye catching, Josh Lydiard’s 1972 Volkswagen Trekker is not something you see every day. 'It’s an odd vehicle when original but mine has a unique patina with tasteful modifications and a slightly rat rod look,' explains Josh. 'The car was originally used by the Luftwaffe in the 70s and still sports its original military markings which lead me to finding out it was a radar and artillery car at an airport in Germany near Munich.

  The performance of Swedish brand Volvo raised a few eyebrows though with a pass rate of only 57.4 per cent, less than the likes of Ford and Volkswagen. We expected it to be considerably higher given the typical Volvo owner. When it came to analysing individual models we set a minimum of 2000 MoTs per year. Otherwise the results would be dominated by high end cars like Aston Martins and Bentleys of which you’d expect a high success rate given their price tag and the fact that their owners, you’d imagine, take great care of them.
