Report: RM and Sotheby's classic car auction, Manhattan, 21 November 22 Nov 2013 (News)
Huge interest in this car culminated in a top bid of $7,040,000. Other notable European highlights include the 1954 Maserati A6G/2000 Spyder by Carrozzeria Zagato, the only example with coachwork by Zagato, which sold for $4,455,000 while the 1936 Delahaye Type 135 Competition Court Teardrop Coupé by Carrosserie Figoni et Falaschi, and the 1933 Rolls-Royce Phantom II Continental Sports Coupé by Freestone & Webb. Coys next auction is "42 Oldtimer Grand Prix" at Nurburgring, Germany, on 9 th August. -

1962 Mercedes-Benz 190SL made £101,813. And a rare 1962 Maserati Sebring Series I, thought to be one of only ten made, sold for £196,875, and a 1987 Ferraris Testarossa, beautifully maintained with just 12,425 miles from new, sold for £120,375. There was strong demand for a 1962 Mercedes-Benz 190SL. -

Classic Jaguars to woo the Revival crowd 12 Sep 2013 (News)
Jaguar XK140s promise exciting racing in the Fordwater Trophy for production-based sports cars of a type that raced between 1955 and 1960, and a number of D-types will be vying for victory in the Sussex Trophy, competing against contemporary sports cars from Ferrari, Maserati and Aston Martin. More than a dozen E-types and E-type lightweights will compete in the hard-fought two-driver Royal Automobile Club TT Celebration race for closed-cockpit GT cars. The popular St Mary’s Trophy for 1960s saloon cars (below) will have a special poignancy this year as the race is dedicated to the memory of the great driver, racing team manager and renowned Guildford Jaguar dealer John Coombs. Coombs achieved fame with his racing Jaguar Mk2s, with the distinctive registration plates BUY 1 and BUY 2, as often driven by such motor racing greats as Graham Hill. Appropriately ex-Coombs Jaguar Mk2s will be completing in the St Mary’s Trophy over the Revival weekend. -
Preview: Retro Racing at Castle Combe, 13-14 August 5 Jul 2013 (News)

Ex-Moss and Jenkinson 300SL to be sold by Bonhams 9 May 2014 (News)
The new Mercedes-Benz team of open-cockpit 300SLR sports-prototype cars simply destroyed their Ferrari and Maserati opposition to dominate the Mille Miglia, scoring a 1-2 triumph, with Stirling Moss/Denis Jenkinson winning from reigning Formula 1 World Champion Juan Manuel Fangio. Moss credited much of his extraordinary victory to navigator ‘Jenks’ who, for the entire 1000 miles, had been able to warn Stirling, '…of corners that could kill us, and of opportunities to stay flat-out and so save time'. -
See 400 classics on track at Donington Historic Festival 13 Jan 2016 (News)
Donington celebrates the 80 th anniversary of Richard Seaman and Hans Ruesch’s victory in the 1936 Donington Grand Prix this year, and the festival marks that anniversary with the HGPCA Nuvolari Trophy, in which the HGPCA will be fielding a grid of iconic Grand Prix and Voiturette cars up until 1950, such as P3 Alfa Romeos, Bugatti T35s and T37s, ERAs, Talbot-Lagos and 8CM Maseratis. The inimitable speed and style of 1950s and ’60s sportscars and GT cars such as C- and D-type Jaguars, 300S Maseratis, Lister Costins and Cooper Bobtails will be seen in the Royal Automobile Club Woodcote Trophy, the Stirling Moss Trophy and the GT & Sports Car Cup. -
Fords set new records at auction 5 Oct 2018 (News)
A rare, original condition 1984 Renault 5 Turbo 2 in left-hand drive and reading just 16,898 miles far exceeded its guide price selling for £86,625, more than £16,000 above its lower estimate. A UK-supplied, right-hand drive 1971 Maserati Indy 4.7 America stood out among the traditional classics on offer, selling for more than £10,000 above its estimate at £60,750, while a limited edition 2007 Lamborghini Murcielago LP640-4 'Versace' was the star of the future classics at the sale, selling to a bidder in the room for £157,500. -
F1 legends set for Silverstone Classic 3 Jul 2018 (News)
Grand Prix cars from all seven decades of Silverstone’s history will be celebrating the circuit’s 70th anniversary this year’s Silverstone Classic (20-22 July). A parade of ERAs, Maseratis and Talbots from the very first Silverstone International Grand Prix back in 1948 will be joined by retro races packed with stunning F1 icons from the 1950s, 1960s, 1970s and 1980s. Completing the anniversary celebrations, Legends of Modern Formula One will feature a great selection of significant F1 cars from the following three decades. -
Competition-inspired Mercedes 300SLS heads to auction 24 May 2017 (News)
Both had aluminium bodies, reducing the weight by 337kg. At the wheel of his SLS, O’Shea regularly beat Ferraris, Maseratis and Aston Martins on track. His car was recognised as one of the most reliable on the track, consistently performing well even in the harshest of driving conditions. His run ended when Mercedes-Benz faced funding issues and had to withdraw from American racing. -
