  • Ford Mondeo III (2000 - 2007) - 02 2.0 tdci fuel injector change 7 Oct 2009 (Forum)
hi all, i have a 2002 mondeo tdci zetec 130 manual, it lacks a little power, though still drives quite well. My mechanic hooked up his computer to the ECU and tells me the no.3 injector is out. Are these hard to change? should i try having it cleaned, or should i try an injector cleaner first? cheers carnut1980
  • Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 99 1.8 More power 26 Sep 2009 (Forum)
I have read about changing the throttle body, MAF and injectors for those off a 2.0 Mondeo 136bhp which supposedly gives 130bhp. Would this work? or is there another way of doing this? (Apart from ECU remapping and straight through exhaust etc) Cheers Ross
  • Peugeot 406 (1996 - 1998) - 97 1.8 car diagnostic connector 21 Aug 2008 (Forum)
I am trying to read any error codes that might be stored in the ECU. I have a 30 pin socket located behind the coded key pad, and I know I have to use C2 and C3 terminals with a LED and switch. But does anyone know if you can get a female socket to fit the terminal so I can extend the pins to make it easier to bridge C2 to C3.
  • Ford Fiesta (1995 - 1999) - '97 - 1.25 identical to 1.4 ? 11 Dec 2007 (Forum)
It is currently a 1.4 Zetec-S, a breakers locally has the 1.25 version. My question, would you know if the 1.25 will drop straight in? Would the 1.4 gearbox/ecu etc be suitable? Many thanks, Stuart.
  • Ford Fiesta (1995 - 1999) - Fumbling 1.25 Zetec 26 Oct 2007 (Forum)
It has almost no response to the accelerator, will not go up hills and eventually grinds to a halt. Ford dealer says it is either ecu failure or complete exhaust and catylist replacement but will not commit to either. Basically they have given up. All the usuals have been checked: HT electrics, fuel, etc. and seem OK. Anybody able to throw some light onto what it could be?
  • audi 1998 s4 ABS fault no warning light 28 May 2007 (Forum)
ABS module has been to specialist reparer and has checked out ok. Also diagnostic equipment has been unable to link with ecu both at the specialist and by two other systems. As of yet I have not taken car to the agents? Any help or ideas would be very welcome.

  • R reg metro 1.4 8 valve 3 Mar 2006 (Forum)
Another metro that will not pass MOT,got it down to either inlet temp sensor on inlet manifold,or ECU,Tried getting the temp sensor from my usual place-motor factors-usually this isnt a problem/untill now. They now state they have to supply both inlet lower manifold and sensor as kit or not supply at all, rovers state the part is available on its own.

  • Vectra Cam Chain 18 Jul 2003 (Forum)
I have just bought a '97 Vectra 2.0Di with 80K on the clock. So far thanks to your wonderful knowledge you have solved the following ECU light problem - Air Mass meter changed Not starting in mornings - Have changed the spill back pipes. Now running nicely, except I'm concerned about the cam chain. Do i need to replace it or anything?

  • 1.4 TSI CAXA 122hp Scirocco 2010 - Wavy acceleration and a rough, shaky idle 24 Sep 2023 (Forum)
The engine has 0 hesitation and even more power when I unplug the Boost pressure sensor and idles smooth so I thought the sensor is faulty. I bought a new one, reset the ECU and started the car, it idled smooth for a few minutes then went back to its old ways, as if the ECU relearned something based off the data it got from the new sensor. Engine idles at 640 RPM (Is that normal?)

  • Fiat Panda 1.2 Lounge (Petrol) - Fiat Panda 2014 1.2 Petrol Throttle Response 4 Dec 2014 (Forum)
”   I’m not sure whether that should give me comfort or even greater concern!   Perhaps you can investigate why Fiat offer ECU remapping to some owners but not others, being tacit acceptance that there is a problem with some, if not all, of their latest 1.2 petrol engines.
  • Chrysler Grand Voyager - Replaced battery and now alarm wont switch off and 4 Jan 2014 (Forum)
do i need to pair my key with ECU again? i know in the past on other cars you do can similar things like put in the door and hold to unlock for a few mins or put in ignition and press lock / unlock in a certain sequence. Hopefully someone will have had this before and knows how to reprogram the key,ecu,bcm.........

also, why would this happen? all of a sudden, no warning at all! Do these codes mean i have to get a new ecu? how and why would this fail? It has been raining heavily, i no this sounds stupid, but i really cant think of anything else it could be! any help on this matter and i would be extremly grateful.
  • Technology and the lack of information for drivers 28 Sep 2009 (Forum)
The thread seemed to have legs and it was interesting to read the diametrically opposed views. OK....so we got all this stuff and I keep reading about ODBI compliant whostis on the ECU and the fault codes etc......all good stuff believe you me, the cars can track faults and store fault codes....OK they don't always get it right and sometimes seem to sprout fault codes faster than weeds on my drive.
  • SEAT Toledo II (1999 - 2004) - 04 TDi - Is it the Turbo? 18 Aug 2009 (Forum)
To date, the MAF sensor, EGR valve, and EGR solenoid control valve have been replaced, but the problem has not been resolved. No fault has ever come up in the car's ECU memory. Next, an independant mechanic discovered that disabling the EGR solves the hesitation - happy days!! However, he could give no reason as to what might be wrong, other that the ECU was faulty, and holding the EGR open too long.
