Mazda 6 TS TD 143 - Major problems with my used car, my rights? 14 May 2012 (Forum)
Eventually it went back to Mazda and on Friday I was told that there was an issue with the flywheel and the gearbox will have to be removed to find out if this is true but there is no certainty about whether this will fix the issue. I have now been with the car since 20th February and paying monthly payments on the finance and insurance. I was told this morning that the dealer has approved the work but it is going to be at least two weeks before I even know if the problem is solved. I want to ask what my options are here? -
New car under scrappage or older second hand one? 2 Oct 2009 (Forum)
My dad is currently doing around 12-13k a year and his MK4 Fiesta Ghia will be on 84k soon although the engine sounds fairly healthy its not going to last that much longer. My parents will find it a little hard to get finance but should be able to get a loan of around 20% APR without any trouble. My idea was to get a car payable over 5 years. Street cred and image is not a problem nor is power. We just need something with no fuss and that is safe and reliable. -
Volkswagen Touran MPV (2003 - ) - Sell privately or in auction? 23 Aug 2009 (Forum)
It seemed a good idea at the time, two babies, etc. so I sold my E39 saloon (520i SE) and thankfully I was able to buy the 'bus' without any finance needed. However, I hate it. It now has 10k miles on the clock, and I can't get my E39 out of my mind. In comparison the Touran is noisy and the ride quality is nothing to compare! I thought I could live with it but it's annoying and I've realised I don't really need all the space either. -
Please advise - New car up2 17k 27 Apr 2007 (Forum)
- Currently drive 2003 T3 1.6 petrol toyota corolla - Thinking of changing for something more sporty and thrilling - But i do 15k annual mileage and thats just for work (if had something more thrilling would probably do more) - Thinking fast diesel, something sporty looking, under £500 to insure cheapish road tax (if there is such a thing :) ) Cars i would love given my 17k budget and maybe taking out a little finance - 2ndH Audi RS4 (dream car) very impractical on fuel, tax and insurance :( - 2ndH Audi S3 : same deal as above :( - Ariel Atom : hah shall we move on - Honda s2000, love this but probably similar to run as S3 Cars on my shortlist - with my mini review - Toyota Auris T180 : Can get it new, goes like absolute stink, prob fastest hatchback diesel, hothatch type performance and cheap to buy and run in comparison to other; however not really as sporty as the rest - Audi A3 170ps (not sure what trim) : Would pay extra for Audi (not keen on VW's) but i couldn't get this new and 2ndH 170ps' are as rare as rocking horse poo. -
Renault Megane Dynamique 1.9dC1 16 Mar 2007 (Forum)
£5,000 is the approximate value of our car if it was working! Does anyone have an idea on where I stand with Renault on this? I am writing to the Finance Company, Renaults own, stating the The Supply of Goods (Implied Terms) Act 1973 as the car is not fit for purpose but I know that this is going to take time that we can ill afford to be without transport. -
Not your usual dilemma! 12 Nov 2004 (Forum)
SO... here's the dilemma. I don't have much extra money to spend (although obviously, with the help of finance, most budgets are atainable!). Need to get rid of the Peugeot because it's doing my head in and I hate driving it. Had decided to push the boat out and try to get a 1999/2000 Golf TDI. More expensive than I thought though. -
MINI Clubman D - Difficulty Rejecting Mini 19 Jul 2024 (Forum)
Paid over the odds for the protection of having it come from MINI and bought it outright with bank transfer so no helpful finance company. 1 month after buying and in less that 1000 miles, offside suspension spring snaps doing quite a bit of damage. MINI picked up the car and repaired the damage to the offside and told me that the nearside spring was also at high risk of failure prematurely and they want to replace it but wanted to charge me an extra £500 for this which I both couldn't afford and understood that if the spring snapped they would have to cover the damage anyway. -
Used Car Under £4k 5 Jun 2023 (Forum)
Speaking of age, I'm at the point, for the first time in donkeys years, where the kids aren't bleeding us dry so if there was ever a time to treat myself with a car I could never have previously afforded then now is the time (I'm not prepared to get a car on finance though so my purchase budget is strict give or take a couple of hundred pounds). Like I said, I'd love a bit of luxury, either slow or fast is fine (but if I was pushed I'd choose a car with a bit of umph). -
Compact SUV Possibly Hybrid - Please Clue Me Up 13 Aug 2021 (Forum)
It's the only diesel car I've ever owned. That too has served the family well. Times and finances have changed so much and we have an offer for the Range Rover. These days we do so little mileage, maybe 2,000pa? it makes sense to update and find something that suits both our needs and our wants much better. -
Small cars were do I begin. 1 Oct 2018 (Forum)
Even though I'm inexperienced I'm not young I'm 32yrs old for many years my priority was to buy our first home together and now I'm in a financially stable sitisituan were I can now afford a car of my own , but I will be looking at used cars as I don't want to commit to finance deals I have saved over the years what I hope is a good budget of 10k. I am hoping you can all give recommendations of which models or brands I should be looking at. I don't have any kids or pets just me and my boyfriend of 12yrs, and we won't be having any kids as due to medical reasons I can't have kids. -
MINI Cooper D - Mini CooperD DPF fault light - needing urgent help 2 Jun 2017 (Forum)
Get it diagnosed locally and if confirmed get it flushed/gutted out/remapped? I spent ages looking for a car and this stretched my finances to the max, whilst I understand these mini's need regular investment and tlc I am concerned I have walked in to a bit of a money pit - I do NOT want that! Thanks for all your help, its much appreciated! -
My part ex has developed a fault after trade in 12 May 2014 (Forum)
I have asked if there is another way to settle this and he has said if I pay him another £600 he will accept it all as it is. His order form has no comments about vehicle roadworthyness, just current mot, no finance, and that I have title to it. He has signed it as balance paid too. From what I can see under law, as in this case I am now the customer, the trader has to prove that the fault was present prior to trading in not me otherwise. -
Skoda Octavia vRS estate - Impressions after 2,000 miles 14 Jan 2014 (Forum)
But it is only slightly, and we still need the space of an estate, so this and the lower cost price, the 0% finance, the proper handbrake and the excellent dealer I use (Jewsons of Oxford, shortly to be rechristened Ridgeway Skoda) swayed it in favour of the Octavia. The icing on the cake is 40 mpg on a long run. -
MINI Cooper S R53 (2002 - 2007) - Rejecting cherished MINI Cooper S 13 Nov 2008 (Forum)
I now have several other problems emerging that I am coming to see your service manager about tomorrow afternoon. Its annoying as when I agreed the finance with your salesman he told me how this car would only cost me a bit extra on payments per month than my previous BMW did. This is now not the case as each time I visits either dealership 1 or 2 I? -
Vectra - How much do you reckon... 17 Sep 2008 (Forum)
...this is worth? In a rare event of organisation, I was looking at my finances over the weekend and whilst they are in a bit of a mess, things might not be as bad as I'd previously thought. When I sold the Focus, I took out a £4,000 bank loan, put some cash to and used the part ex value of the Focus to buy a Merc. -
What's the point of the Hats?! 4 Feb 2010 (Forum)
Sales manager then asks if I'd like to buy it - 'yes' - but only if it's got a Bosch pump (or, at least, not the horror story pumps) and we wouldn't know until Monday when the importers could be contacted. "No problemo", breezed the SM - except that the special finance deal was coming to an end, and if we were to benefit from it a car had to be ordered as soon as possible (I know...I know) SM made suggestion - pay a £500 deposit to allow an order to be placed on the system - and if it transpired that the fuel pump was one of the dodgy brand, no problem, the £500 would be immediately refunded. -
Mitsubishi Outlander-Could it be a failed DMF on? 24 May 2020 (Forum)
Trying to deliberately induce clutch slip - steep hill, manual mode, 1st, 2nd or 3rd gear results in wheel spin (2wd) or acceleration (4wd) with no detectable slip. Finally! The cars got a couple of years of finance left, so I can't really afford to ditch it at a loss. But I also have a warranty, however the nearest garage that is one of their "network" garages, that is even prepared to look at this is a Peugeot dealer - 100ml round trip (the 4007 was identical to the Outlander). -
BMW Z4 Coupe - Help needed please, mis-sold BMW approved used car 6 May 2012 (Forum)
I have set out the situation below which is causing me a great deal of stress so hopefully someone can help me to resolve this. Recently decided to buy my dream car so got the finances together and started looking for a BMW Z4 Coupe. Decided on the BMWAUC route to ensure peace of mind when spending so much money. Found the perfect car, but was in a BMW dealership 300 miles away (this was 4 weeks ago) Registered March 09 22k miles Knowing how fast good examples can sell I called up straight away and was assisted by the sales rep who was really helpful and pointed out all the small defects on the painwork etc. -
Audi A1 - Reject New Audi 28 Mar 2012 (Forum)
The car is on a PCP Agreement and during the period they have had the car 50 Days out of the 120 days I have owned it. I sent a letter of rejection to the supplying dealer, Audi Finance and Customer services and was informed they would not reject the vehicle as they believed they could resolve the issue and an agreement was made for the vehicle to go in on 1 further occasion: 23/2/12 and they would keep it for up to 1 month. -
