Nissan Almera Tino (petrol) 2003 auto - Reluctant to start - starter motor sounded odd 21 Feb 2011 (Forum)
Took car for 5 mile drive, all seemed normal, switched off, restarted as normal no problem. So, seems okay now. Any obvious ideas what this was? Momentarily blocked fuel line? Contaminated fuel? Water in the petrol? -
Honda Accord UK (1998 - 2003) - 00 2.0 Cold Start Fast Idle Problem 4 Dec 2010 (Forum)
RPM needle starts to bounce up and down (1000 to 1200) you can feel and hear this through the car. -while driving, RPM counter hunts between 1000RPm and 1200RPM aprox when decelerating i.e when taking foot off excelerator, in this range the car feels as though it is going to stall. If i stop and turn the car off and turn it straight back on all is fine. -
Fiat 500 - Help with car for lifestyle change... 3 Oct 2010 (Forum)
Hi all long time no post! I drive a 06 Boxster. Planning taking a year out to travel and need to save for 18 months. Need to get a car that will cause minimal expense over that period. Finance will be money borrowed from relative at 4% so cheap to borrow - a cheap car might not be the ideal solution if borrowing is that cheap. -
Ford Fiesta 1.25 Zetec (1997) - Fiesta 1.2 Uneven Idle problem 18 Sep 2010 (Forum)
When driving along, if you ease off the accelerator to decelerate very slightly, the car seems to loose power and there is again that ‘delay’ when you press down on the accelerator before it catches again and jerks forward. -
Advice on a cheap to run commute car 31 Aug 2010 (Forum)
BTW, I'm not fussed about either diesel or petrol, both are horrendously priced, I just need something that will get good mpg and is comfortable to drive. Thanks in adavnce fo the advice and ensuing debate on what seems to be a crowded topic. -
Citroen Berlingo Multispace - Importing a previously registered UK car 5 Aug 2010 (Forum)
Hello, This October I'm planning to fly out to Alonissos (a Greek island) to pick up my Granddad's X reg Berlingo, and drive it back to the UK via Italy, Switzerland and France. My Granddad bought the car in the UK as normal back when he lived here, and used it to travel out to Greece when he moved there. Back in 2004, he officially exported the car from the UK. -
Chrysler Voyager (1997 - 2001) - 97 3.3 cooling fans won't come on????? 20 Jul 2010 (Forum)
The following day, driving through the same area, same thing happened, though this time when the ignition was turned back on, NO fans, so let the engine cool a bit and found a nice bit of 40mph road to cool the beast down. -
Jaguar S-Type LHD - Jaguar S Type Indicator switch 10 Jul 2010 (Forum)
If depress to turn right it operates normally but does not cancel and there is also a tendancy to indicate right involuntarlly. The problem happened on a roundabout. The standard of driving in the UAE is generally atrocious and many of our foreign cousins simply cannot get their heads around going around roundabouts - let alone driving around them. The normal routine is for a driver to go round without indicating and also in the outside lane. -

excellent result with in car camera 26 Jun 2010 (Forum)
For all those who thought an in car camera was overkill & paranoia I have just had an excellent result! Driving thorugh a town late at night some holigan thought it would be an excellent idea to try running at my wifes car & kung-fu kick the doorswhilst i was driving ( 20mph) ! fortunatley for me he caught his toes in the drivers door handle which slammed him down in the road & injured his ankle! -
Owning a diesel auto - how it feels? 22 Mar 2010 (Forum)
How an auto feels to drive on snowy weather? Do I still leave on D or put in 2 or L mode? Do I need to put in 2 or L while going up/down hill? Though my usage will be mostly long trips but on some occassions, the car will run less than 5 miles on a single trip (i.e weekend shopping etc.) -
1.1 Citroen Saxo 1999 - Cutting out and then not even ticking over to start again! 16 Mar 2010 (Forum)
We noticed a few hours after purchasing that the engine just cuts out as we where coming upto a junction. With it being a oldish car and that the previous owner had had it sat on the drive since November we put this down to dirt going through the system and thought little of it. HA! Then the next day it did it again but this time the car was just stationary whilst my partner was waiting for me outside a shop. -
Volkswagen Golf IV (1998 - 2004) - 04 1.6 Juddering gearbox after transmission fluid 31 Jan 2010 (Forum)
Garage will be picking up car in the week to take it back and check it, but also told me that nowadays gearboxes will adjust to your driving style and it maybe needs to adjust in this way - sounds totally bonkers to me - anybody familar with this or have any idea what the problem is? BTW, until transmission fluid replaced today, never had any problem whatsoever with gearbox - previously drive was v.smooth. -
Last time you were lucky ?? 9 Jan 2010 (Forum)
In 27 years of driving, I ve been fortunate in not having many near misses. The most memorable was 24 years ago , going from The Hogs Back towards Guildford cathedral - I was going down the hill and almost opposite the Happy Eater - when a car came flying over the central reservation - fortunately I was driving my bosses car and at 60 ish was missed by less than 10 ft. -
Ford Mondeo III (2000 - 2007) - 03 2.0 3rd gear syncro "weak" 18 Dec 2009 (Forum)
The garage, when handing the car back said "Do you know that your 3rd gear syncro is weak?" and went on to explain to me what the symptoms were.....when engaging 3rd gear during normal driving it "crunches" - the other 5 forward gears are fine as is reverse (though I believe it doesn't have syncromesh). Now, I only got the car back early evening today and haven't had a chance to drive more than 2-3 miles but the problem is very obvious and wasn't present before the clutch failure...... -
Trailer regs puzzle 15 Dec 2009 (Forum)
I already had something in mind for size and length but was rather thrown when the dealership owner insisted that he would not be able to let me drive away with any of the trailers I was thinking of buying unless I had a suitable vehicle. He says - and I can't see any advantage for him in saying this - that if I buy a trailer weighing 600kg itself but plated to carry 2500kg I cannot drive the 600kg empty trailer home unless I have a vehicle rated for the full 2500kg rather than the 1500kg-rated car I had in mind for the trip home. -
Beware hiring an "automatic" car. 2 Nov 2009 (Forum)
I rolled to a halt on an incline, switched off, removed key then of course as soon as I took my foot off the brake I needed to jerk on the hand brake. I am used to driving manuals and autos plus an interest in cars. Any hirer with an "autos only" license could find themselves in trouble especially as the common switch off, take the key out and do not apply the hand brake is routine. -
1989 7.5 tonne lorry - tyre pressures 21 Oct 2009 (Forum)
Posting this on behalf of my sister, who has an LGV license and regularly drives 7.5 tonne and larger horse boxes. Driving a 7.5 tonne box last night she suffered a punctured rear tyre. Pulled into services and called recovery firm who brought and fitted new tyre. Received a stern ticking off from them after they checked the tyre pressures on the other rear wheels, all of which were down to about 30 psi.
