Iconic 1925 3-litre Bentley in Historics 23rd November Auction 8 Nov 2019 (News)
One foggy night, in the early 1950s it stuck in 3 rd gear and the driver sold it to a garage in Slough, the owners of which then kept it ever since. It starred as Douglas Bader’s car in the movie ‘Reach for the Sky’, and remained in storage until the garage was sold in 2007. The family then decided to restore it and “got a bit carried away” spending in excess of £150,000 over 4 years with Elmdown Engineering of Hungerdford. -
Porsche named best manufacturer when it comes to passing the MoT 18 Feb 2019 (News)
Eight out of every 10 tested for an MoT in 2017 passed, with the Cayman performing the best. Just behind is sports car maker Porsche and budget brand Dacia. Given the latter was introduced into the UK 2013. Its youthful range of cars, they would only be going through their first or second MoT, explains the high pass rate. -

The 1987 Ford Sierra Cosworth RS500 (No. 387) has 10,733 miles on the clock, having enjoyed a very quiet life for the past 26 years. Recommissioned by Cosworth specialist John Taylor, the car is mechanically sound while the body work is original. The car is expected to fetch between £90,000 and £100,000. The second performance icon on offer is a 1991 Vauxhall Lotus Carlton. -
Rally legends set for Ignition motoring festival 7 Jun 2017 (News)

Frankfurt Motor Show 2015: SsangYong XAV makes European debut 16 Sep 2015 (News)
While SsangYong has in the past focussed on more traditional 4x4s, it's now following the crossover trend with its new Tivoli - a very impressive car for the money. The XAV-Adventure is a similar crossover which SsangYong says is aimed at a younger generation. It's powered by either a 1.6-litre diesel or 1.6-litre petrol engine plus there's a hybrid electric E-4WD system. -

Budget 2015: Chancellor announces new road fund 8 Jul 2015 (News)
In his budget speech, the Chancellor said: ‘Every penny of VED paid...will now be used to improve the roads that people drive on.’ For the past 60 years, VED has been treated as a general taxation on car ownership. Currently, VED (along with road tax and things like corporation tax) ends up in the coffers of the Exchequer. Road building and maintenance is currently paid for by a mix of general and local taxation. -
GT40 celebrations hit the runway at Sywell Classic 31 Jul 2014 (News)
As well as the GT40s, there will be a mix of Formula One, Group B and C race cars, as well as historic single-seaters and saloons at the event. Hot rods and classic motorcycles will take to the ‘sprint strip’ for some straight-line action and tyre-smoking burn outs. -
Classic Safari Rally sets off in style 7 May 2014 (News)
Taking an early lead in the Classic section was the red and white ex-London to Sydney 1968 Austin 1800 (above) of Bill Cleyndert and Jacqui Norman, which romped over the dirt with the engine screaming its nuts off due to its ultra-low gearing. It just beat the replica 1964 Monte Carlo Ford Falcon GT, a rare car not seen before on an ERA event, into second place. In the Vintageant section, Bruce and Judy Washington lead in their 1937 Dodge Coupe D5, just beating Peter Lambert and Linda Lotriet in their 1934 Lagonda M45. Two British teams boast the oldest cars in the competition – a 1928 Crossley 15-7 Silver Tourer, belonging to Andrew and Gina Long, and a 1928 Bentley 4.5 Tourer driven by Keith and Norah Ashworth. -

Ford announces dates for its Driving Skills for Life scheme 25 Sep 2013 (News)
The company has been quick to emphasise that the training will focus purely on safety and no commercial pressure will be put on pupils to buy cars. According to Department for Transport statistics, one in five of all reported personal injury road accidents in 2011 involved young car drivers, with 1552 were killed or seriously injured. Heritage Motor Centre volunteers complete MG resto 25 Jun 2013 (News)
The 1958 MGA has been part of the Museum’s reserve collection for a number of years. Originally a complete car, it was one of only 300 or so Twin Cam coupés made by MG and is thought to have been shown either on the Earl’s Court Motor Show stand or at the New York Motor Show. Subsequently sectioned and painted in an array of colours as a technical demonstration for apprentices and students alike, it eventually became a museum piece. -
