  Any of you technical chaps got any thoughts as to why the battery on my brother's 850 T5 keeps running down. It's not old and seems to lose its charge even after a long run on the motorway. The obvious thing to do is to buy another but could it be something else which might damage the new battery ?

  i am looking for new business premises, as the area i am in is very run down. i have seen a four car workshop, with electric, running hot and cold water, a toilet, and a new roof, but i dont know if £55 per week is a good rent, as i owned the last place i havent a clue about rents. the workshop is in whitley bay, in a good location. any ideas???

  Stopped car at destination. Restarted car several hours later in the evening and ECU light still on when engine running, stopped engine after test. Left car overnight and in the morning the ECU light went out normally once engine was running Warm sunny day 3. 1/7/02 15 miles of slow country lanes at under 30mph, 2nd and 3rd gear.

  Now the odd thing is is if the car is then driven on a run the noise is no longer there when switching off and back on. The same later in day and the same for several days. If the car is left and not driven for longer periods then the noise will return of what appears to be a poorly running engine in my opinion.

  Had a second hand fuel tank fitted after the old one was vandalised and this seems to be when the problems started. At idle it runs very poorly and even when I drive it there is a heavy crackling noise. I think it is missing and this is causing the noise. It can get a bit better when it warms up and occasionally it runs OK for a couple of days.

  A mechanic quoted me 350 to install the engine, I bought a replacement cam belt kit, water pump and a clutch release bearing. The mechanic installed the engine but the car just won’t run, it cranks but does not start, mechanic then gave me a bill for 450 because it took an extra day (even though it does not work ??) another mechanic now has car and has changed the fuel pump and injectors have been primed, various sensors and senders replaced, swapped the fuel injection pump and injectors over and it still doesn’t run.

  My 97 306 1.9td started running rough and smoking a little on my way home the other day, it was then hard to start and the level of smoke had increased as had the rough running. A mechanic friend took a look and thought it to be contaminated fuel ( he poured a bit on the floor, chucked a match on it, and it went up instantly) I have definatley only put diesel in it so my only thought would be that the fuel that i put in was dodgy from the pumps - tesco said they have not had any other complaints.

  It then Starts no problem & runs great. No problem with starting or running when the engine is warm ... Also, there are No DTC's coming up on code reader ...  Can anyone point me in the right direction ?? Thanks in advance.

  Apart from that it's been the usual tyres, brakes, servicing and usual mot things, wipers, bushes etc. I can't say Mercs have been more expensive to run than the other cars I have had and apart from the clk 320 petrol which drank like a camel but was great to drive they have been very economical. The clk went 5 years ago for the slk and is still running around on a w plate.

     No prizes for guessing whats failing on my current car.  Does anyone have any experience of running any of these vehicles?  I am quite keen on the RAV, what should I be expecting in the terms of repair bills?

   Even the stop-start refuses to disengage the cold start, yet when I manually with key turn off and on it cuts out the cold start. This I observed when it is around 3c or lower.  otherwise, car runs fine, 55mpg on a run, no misfires or hesitations of any sort.  Does the cold start activate the DPF? Car runs on a diet of ASDA, Sainsbury's, BP, Shell and ESSO. OIl is changed every 7-8k, using VW Quantum: 5w30 Long Life.

  I was recently involved in a hit and run accident earlier this week painfully I was unable to get the registration of the car however I did clock the make and model. The roundabout on which it happened does not have cameras however the slip road that leads onto the motorway that the car escaped onto does.

  Hi , just after a bit of advice if any one can help I have a 2007 diesel focus , high mileage its a taxi , just been through. It's taxi test & passed without any marks against it. However it's just started running loud on acceleleration & if you take you're foot off and cruise its still loud. Stops if you drop gears. Sounds a bit like a cross between over revving-slipping belt -blowing exhaust Thought it maybe slipping clutch but there's no loss of power or catching up with revs & I figure any exhaust probs would of shown up on test Could do without being off the road again so any advice would be greatly appreciated I should add fault is intermittent Cheers in advance

  I have no issue doing more frequent oil changes & might get the stuff to do them at home, maybe every 5k or so, but am also considering a small cheap car like a £1k golf to do the run in. I have to re-emphasize that I'm not concerned about damage or anything, the car park is full of expensive cars.  Mine is a 997 C4S BTW. Thoughts please?

  The car came to me about 200 miles ago with a receipt for a fuel pump for over £700 ! just a few months before I got it.  The car has run exceptionally well until it started missing the odd beat....this became more frequent until it stopped altogether, and now wont go at all. There appears to be no fuel reaching the pump, but it seems unlikely to be a pump issue in light of the money recently spent.

  So far I've looked at Fabias, Scenics, Picassos, Focus' and all of the Peugeot sw's I'm most eager for something economical to run and thinking of a diesel but I definitely need room for the dog. I can always get a trailer or roofbox for the luggage/camping stuff. TIA Kassandra
