  • 1997 306XTDT d8A engine - XUD9TE Plastic filter problems solved. 1 May 2010 (Forum)
Now car starts and runs every time with ONE GLOW PLUG CYCLE> The little clicker fuel pump means you dont have to get out and squeeze that SILLY RUBBER FUEL PUMP. Have isolated the whole plastic peugeot fuel filter and fuel lines and just run from tank right to INJECTOR PUMP viA filter.

  • Win diesel 7 Mar 2009 (Ask HJ)

  • Ford Mondeo III (2000 - 2007) - 1.8 or 2.0 litre petrol, or 2.0 TDCI? 18 Feb 2009 (Forum)
Of the two, my impression from the reviews is that there's not much to choose between them either in driving quality or price, but that the Mondeo is a slightly better drive and slightly more reliable. The ideal purchase would be youngish car which has been run in without clocking up massive mileage, and after burrowing around I find that the best deals on offer are on 07 reg Mondeo IIIs at Motorpoint. They have a choice of 1.8LXs at £5,999 or 2.0TDCI 130s at £6999, all with mileage in the low teens; both seem like real bargains (save £10k for a car which someone else has run in, but still has plenty of warranty left).
  • Petrol into Diesel (Again) 15 Dec 2007 (Forum)
(Izuzu engine) I was coming home late at night and I didn't think I had enough fuel to make it home (there was about £10 worth in the tank). I stopped at the only filling station on the way home to find that they had RUN OUT of diesel! I really didn't fancy freezing to death for 4 hours waiting for somewhere else to open, besides do you really think my partner was gonna believe a story about me running out of diesel and sleeping in the van.
  • I shafted the trade, guilty or not? 4 Aug 2007 (Forum)
Time went by and in a couple of years it had done 60,000, it suddenly started to really chug all the time, running rich, black smoke coming out of the exhaust.. Now I was sensitised to Ford main dealers as a result of the previous episode which led to further trouble with `the trade`. I called out the recovery service and the guy revved it so hard there was a crack and then a half engine speed tapping. ( Cam follower I think) Anyway, due to the difficult service manager of the supplying dealer and out of warranty, I let the ( well known) recovery service guy take it to his "recommended garage" This turned out to be a little place with three guys running it.
  • VW TDI crankshaft problems 10 Sep 2003 (Forum)
When i take the car into new dealer for 80k service inform them of the \'flat spot\' under excelleration etc. Dealer runs VAG.COM software to find that \'fuel pump timing\' is not set and could have been a result of 56k cambelt service. Advised take back to original dealer for reset etc. As i have no confidence in original dealer authorise current dealer to sort problem. £170.00 lighter i pick the car up - seems sharper etc. 1200 miles later flat spot is back and car running like a \'dog\'.

  • Nissan Micra K14 2018 1.5 diesel 2018 - Multiple Warning Lights all at once 28 Sep 2024 (Forum)

When I restarted journey, Traction control, ABS Braking, Start stop, Tire pressure and Radar collision warnings all came on.
  • Insurance Write Off Value. How much can I negotiate? 26 Sep 2024 (Forum)
The can has full service history, new premium tyres, clean body, very clean leather interior, electric seats, satnav, etc. Runs and drives perfectly, AC blows ice cold. I have just been advised that the insurers are writing the car off as uneconomic repair I have been looking at a replacement as I really like the car.
  • Diesel and DPF 2 Mar 2024 (Forum)
I am finding that the car is performing regens more and more often but have been caught out by quite a few of them (not realising - quite why clever manufacturers can't 'invent' a dashboard notification is beyond me) where I have killed the engine before it's been fully completed.  Each time i have made sure the car's next run is a lengthy one at higher speeds and have noticed no repetition....until the next time when I have reverted to town driving once more. The need for me to have to take the car on a run purely to negate this is becoming irritating.
  • Peugeot 306 1.9 diesel 2002 - Massive diesel knock 27 Jan 2024 (Forum)
I bought my 306 2 years ago tired and sad and badly maintained, one family owned for nearly 20 years all genuine mileage around 30,000 miles. It started and run with no smoke or nasty noises. Was poor cold starting and glow plug relay had been bypassed with a manual switch added. As wether turned colder starting got worse and not on all cylinders. Started so bad one morning tried giving it glow plugs while already running, it started knocking like the crank was trying to get out.

  • Welcome to your new moderator 21 Nov 2023 (Forum)
He has been a member since 2010 and am sure will introduce himself in due course. Quite a lot of work goes on invisibly behind the scenes to keep the forum running smoothly and 'Leaseman' is starting off as Spam Zapper, removing spam and disabling accounts. Hopefully this will result in a reduction in the rubbish we often see on the forums because I don't have time to check in all the day.
