Chundering along the Queens highway and giving up 7 Jul 2009 (Forum)
Twenty miles later and no change.. caravans stuck together like copulating snails glued on the bumper of the old truck. Two powerful cars playing close tag on the convoy. Plenty of places for these guys to pull over - but no. No. Possibly I might have got through them with the turbo job - but I have never missed the old bike more - for that slight twist of the grip and the rocket ride past. -
irresponsible OLD drivers! 30 Dec 2005 (Forum)
It is weaving in and out of lanes and frequently straddling lanes. Gets closer and can't recognise car, but it eventually gets past me and it's a Porsche Carrera GT; driver is about 55 years old. Looks respectable. Traffic now too heavy for anything more than 65mph and Porker still weaving all over the show, finding gaps where there are none and causing other cars to swerve or brake sharply. -
does anyone else find car mags boring? 23 Mar 2005 (Forum)
you see the same 3 or 4 press cars in the same few magazines and they all tell you what a huge improvement the facelift model was to the old one . if thats the case why did they shift so many of the old ones???? then in copies from a few years ago ago they told you what a massive improvement that was over the last model. -
Time for a change? Opinions? 17 Jan 2005 (Forum)
Hi Back Room, Not sure who is aware but i have a 1994 Peugeot 306 1.9 diesel non turbo. This car is cheap to run/inusre etc. But being a 10 year old car parts wear out, i have owned this car for 10 months and spent £800 on parts/labour and i only bought it for £1000. The reason i bought a diesel was i had to commute quite a way to work. -
Any - Insurance selling write off cars 13 Feb 2014 (Forum)
I had a write off, car taken to scrap yard. Letter from insurance (Admiral) advised they do not offer buy back of write off's as company policy is the car will be scrapped. I have since received a letter from a company in Birmingham asking for the 2nd key of my old car, as they have bought it from Copart (Admiral's declared 'scrapper'). -

Hi all, I'm preparing to buy a new(ish) car. I've always had old bangers and I'm sick of paying for garage bills. I've been to a dealership this afternoon to look at Nissan Micras, but the salesman is not the best person for impartial car buying advice! -

Car insurance for newly qualified driver 11 Jun 2006 (Forum)
My son passed his car test a fortnight ago. He is 17 years old and has become demoralised at the huge cost of insurance and the fact our insurance company (Direct Line) will not have him as a named driver on the family car - a Picasso 2.0 Hdi(hardly a performance car!). -

All - Fire Extinguisher, how old is yours? 13 May 2020 (Forum)
So what do you do with the old one? Well the advice in Essex is to use it to release the pressure, remove the top then pop along to the Pitsea or Brentwood recycling centre and dispose of it. When they are reopened of course. -
'New Old' Member Dropping By 25 Nov 2008 (Forum)
I actually used to visit these forums many years ago before I could even drive, but came across it again today so thought I would re-join... Some of the discussions on here are really interesting, and I love talking about cars so hopefully I can add some of my wisdom to the debates, lol! I'm Dan, 21 years old, student, and I drive a 57 plate BMW 116i. Previously I had a Ford Ka, which I had up until this summer when I had a run-in with a foreign lorry on the M40 :( Love my Beemer and think it's the best looking/handling hatchback you can buy. -
Rover 25TD or Alfa 147 or keep 214 12 Jan 2006 (Forum)
Thinking of changing girlfriends 214si for either of the above as she has now tripled her commute distance and will be doing at least 25K a year. Now, do I (1) keep current car with 110K for another 3 years and pay for any repairs should they need doing (2) buy something I have always wanted - Alfa 147 Tspark thats a couple of years old. Reliability and cost of repairs a drawback? -
