Seagulls scratching paintwork on roof and bonnet! 1 May 2016 (Forum)
My paintwork was mint, but i'm getting new scratches appearing daily on the roof, bonnet and pillars of my car. I have owned the car only a couple of months and live and work close to the coast in Cornwall. Is there anything I can do? I don't have a garage and the works car park (right by the sea) is open. Maybe some kind of cover? -

Renault Clio - car insurance query 28 Feb 2011 (Forum)
My 20 yr-old daughter this year arranged her own car insurance and has learned the lesson of looking at the small print having been charged £100 for four mid-term changes. Hard lesson but my question is:is there a rough percentage increase when the same 3PFT cover is kept but the vehicle is changed from 1.2 to1.4 and the value increased from £2k to £4k? -

Renault 5(1.4)-intermittent problem 2 May 2001 (Forum)
I have an intermittent problem with my 1996 Renault 5, 1.4 (C3J engine with Electronic Ignition). When the car returns to idle the car nearly stalls, then the revs pickup automatically and everything is fine. This only occurs when the engine has been run for a few miles. The car has covered 35,000 miles and is fully serviced. -
Mercedes E class 250 cdi 2012 - Section 75 advice 8 Jan 2014 (Forum)
I bought 2012 E250 Mercedes from Mercedes Benz main dealer in Southwest (Exeter). Sale was agreed over the phone and I paid in full before car was delivered to my door in London. I noted some noise (druaght of air) from rear window which was annoyingbut since nothing serious I didn't immediately seek advice knowing car was still covered under warranty until Jan 2015. -

Peugeot 307 (2001 - 2007) - 04 1.6 110hdi squeak / chirp on startup / clutch 2 May 2009 (Forum)
Opening the bonnet, and looking at the engine, these seem to be coming from the driver's side of the engine bay, perhaps from the area immediately to the side of the plastic engine cover. The car has covered 96K miles, always serviced on the dot, and had the DMF and clutch replaced at 93K after failure (peugeot main dealer, it was my father's company car). Otherwise a nice car (apart from the blasted fan running on when stopped). -
Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - V5C incorrect tax class 10 Jan 2009 (Forum)
The DVLA know more about this car than I do: the V5C lists make / model / variant / version, together with a full set of exhaust emissions (sections V1 > V5). Is it really necessary for me to approach Ford for a covering letter, or is there an easier way of doing this? -
Honda Accord UK (2003 - 2008) - tram lining on 17" allos 19 Jan 2006 (Forum)
The car went in for a service and the dealer deflated the tyres to the ?correct pressures? and told me that the front tyres were well worn edge and would be good for no more than 2000 miles (The car has covered 7900 miles from new). -
Weathershield Fabric from Covercraft 17 Feb 2008 (Forum)
Been investigating a new car-cover for my convertible which is long-term stored outdoors, and had some fabric samples in from covercraft. Their mos texpensive fabric is called Weathershield, but looks incredibly thin and fine, and has tiny holes in it when you hold it up to the light. -

It got so hot the plastic timing belt cover melted. Could the extreme heat have damaged a sensor? Any ideas for the gradual deterioration at fast idle? -
VW / Audi long life servicing experience 28 Dec 2005 (Forum)
Hello, Sorry if this should be in technical section, but I decided it was more of a subject for discussion. We have two cars - one Audi A4 (petrol), and a just aquired VW sharan (TDi). Both are on the variable servicing plan - the Audi is now 15 months old, but has only covered 8K and is indicating that a service will be due in the next 6K or about 3 months time, so given the low mileage I have no problem with that, but the Sharan is the main family workhorse and will cover anything up to 20K per year. -
Peugeot 406 Estate - radio, brake lights 11 May 2005 (Forum)
Fine except for a couple of faults. Firstly, the high-level brake light does not work, and it had been covered with a strip of black sticky tape by the previous owner - presumably some sort of MOT evasion measure! I can't work out how to get into it - does anyone know? The owners handbook shows how to replace bulbs (5 x 5w) for the saloon model, but my estate doesn't have the same removable cover inside the car. -

BMW 520 i 1994 - Insure for the day car insurance 28 Feb 2017 (Forum)
Need to collect my daughters BMW 520i and arrange to sell it from my house. The car is in the way and she needs the room on her drive. The car is a 1994 BMW Tourer with less than 40000 miles unbelievably and its in remarkable condition for its year. But although it has Mot and tax there is no insurance.
