Audi Q7 3.0 TDI V6 - Audi Q7 3.0 tdi engine noise at 1800 to 2000 rpm 18 Sep 2018 (Forum)
I've recently purchased a Q7 3.0 tdi, which promptly broke down on the drive home. After the injectors were replaced and coil pack(s) it seems to run fine. However at about 1800 to 2000 rpm then engine sounds a bit harsh, like a resonance type noise. The car is under load and acceleration at the time. Lifting off the gas stops the noise / feeling and outside of these revs it's all ok. -
Winter tyres or SUV? 25 Jul 2018 (Forum)
Second looking at 16/17 plate Honda CRV SR 1.6 D or Mazda CX5 Spoprt 2.2 D? I do know someone with the Mazda and runs it on summer tyres and had no issues last winter, CRV I’ve heard mixed reviews. Obviously both would perform best on winter tyres, but if I end up getting SUV and having to put winter tyres on this then maybe the tourer would be ok with winter tyres. -
Banks - Treating Customers Fairly - Right! 4 Jul 2018 (Forum)
The person we were dealing with insisted the deal with the £999 fee is the one to go for and would not understand that the higher percentage rate is going to be cheaper for us in the long run i.e. £150,000 x 0.02% x 10 years = £300 so £699 cheaper! This sort of thing makes me want to move my custom elsewhere, but the bank actually has a good deal so might end up sticking with them - but why do they try and take us for idiots! -
Peugeot 5008 - Peugeot 5008 injector error 15 Apr 2018 (Forum)
I drove almost 2 hours without any problem and all of a sudden I got engine error, and the car started running lumpy. It doesn't go over 80km/h and no higher than 1900 rpm at the moment. I drove to Peugoet official dealer and got it diagnosed. Below is the report: 5008 Turbo diesel DV6C Opr 12835 Error code: P0262, P0265, P0268, P0271 The dealer said that the problem is with injectors and all four needs to be replaced. -
Snow/ice - pull away in 1st gear or 2nd gear 4 Mar 2018 (Forum)
My main reason for always using 1st gear is to avoid clutch wear, but I decided to try second gear in the recent snow. I found that it was so much harder than 1st gear. It has a tenancy to 'run away'. In 1st gear my car will usually crawl along at a steady speed and you just need one foot to control the speed. With 2nd gear you're either trying to balance the clutch and gas pedals or the conditions aren't actually that bad and you could have pulled away normally anyway. -
What car to buy my mum? 15 Jan 2018 (Forum)
Ford Fiesta or Skoda Fabia. A used car with relatively low mileage. Ideally it would be economical to run, to fix and to tax. She does a fair amount of motorway driving as well as around town. It has to be an automatic, and I’m slightly nervous about her having anything more punchy than a 1.4l engine. She’s not as confident behind the wheel as she used to be. -
Land Rover Defender (1946 - ) - 200tdi cutting out 18 Dec 2017 (Forum)
I've got a Defender 200tdi and she runs like a dream for 100 miles of so then get lumpy and underpowered for a few seconds and cuts out. Looks like it's some kind of fuel issue as if I remove the fuel filter and turn the ignition over fuel comes through - if I then empty the filter and replace it works fine again for 100 miles of so. -
Best Car for Mileage Tax Purposes . 31 May 2017 (Forum)
Hi , can anyone recommend a car between £3000 - 4500 for business use / tax purposes . I do 12 - 15k a year mostly town driving ( nothing over 50mph ) with a longer run of a 100miles round trip ( hour each way) once a week from Birmingham to Northampton. As the car would be used for business use I can claim back 45p per mile against tax ( 45p covers the cost of fuel, insurance , repairs ) . -
Mazda 6 - Petrol or Diesel 9 Feb 2017 (Forum)
However usage is approx 10K per year most of which is by the wife on short trips. The Toledo has been excellent, cheap to run and returned v good MPG despite the frequent short trips. However despite this I read the advise is now against diesel especiially with the advent of the DPF. I have read all the issues surrounding the Mazda 6 2.0 diesel with regards to the DPF and believe this has been sorted in the new 2.2 version. -
Suzuki Wagon R+ Automatic - Radio 'buzzing' when turning steering wheel 25 Jan 2017 (Forum)
When the engine is running and the radio is switched on, as soon as I turn the steering wheel left or right I get like a 'buzzing noise' from the radio through the speakers. I went to Halfords garage and their guy had never heard of the problem.I then went to the main shop where another guy had a good look around. -
Renault scenic - Renault audio system pass code 22 Oct 2016 (Forum)
I recently changed the battery in my car and after powering up the car I could not operate the car audio system as it kept asking for the pass code which apparently i didn't have. All efforts to get it up and running has proved futile since then. The only option open to me was to visit an authorised dealer who is several miles away. I was on the verge of changing the entire system when a pal told me about this forum that you guys might be able to help me out. -
BMW 1 Series - Claiming money from a closed company 3 Oct 2016 (Forum)
The Defendant has not paid and his time to do so has run out. Thing is, the company I got the car from is no longer in business (Limited company) BUT the same person I bought the car from has started another company, selling cars, at the same place as I got mine. -
any make / model - new mot law 2016 be warned 21 Sep 2016 (Forum)
there seems to be very little discussion about the new mot law that changed in feb this year where once you submit your car for a mot and it fails the car is put on the data base as unroad worthy and liable to a fine if driven, even with the existing mot not running out for a couple of weeks. this happened to me yesterday put car in main dealer 2 weeks early for a service and mot ( had to be serviced at main dealer due to life time warranty vauxhall) then it failed. thought i would have 2 weeks to fix myself at leisure but no it had to be fixed there and then other wise im liable to fine if caught driving so had no choice but to pay, feel totaly stitched up. -
ML250 - Merits of a Merc (or not!) 16 Aug 2016 (Forum)

Renault espace 2.2 diesel - Lack of power 30 Jul 2016 (Forum)
When I took the old one out it was sooted up well but also had some oil on it so went completely new. Since then it's been running worse keep getting the same message as before but now it seems like the turbo doesn't cut in. No strange noises no smoke just no turbo. Don't think it's in limp mode as it still revs up to restricter if you dip the clutch. -
Cheap Car Vs New Lease 22 Jun 2016 (Forum)
His argument is while the deposit on the Logan is £1174, the cost of a decent used Focus/Astra estate is similar if not more (£1200-£1700) Unlike the Focus/Astra, the Logan comes with a free extended 5 year warranty, so other than running costs, shouldnt cost a penny more. Howeever, the downside to the Logan deal is the mileage is capped at 6,000 miles per year and he will not be able to service the car himself, it must go to a Dacia dealer although servicing costs are reasonable. -
Audi A3 Sportback - Audi A3 2015 with cracked tyres 18 May 2016 (Forum)
The tyres are Dunlop Sport Maxx I recently had a slow puncture from a nail and on visiting Kwik Fit to have it repaired, they advised that all four of my tyres had cracks within the central tread running around the circumference of the tyre. I have kept my tyres inflated as recommended, however I would not expect such wear to occur given the relatively short time period since buying the car. -
2007 mercedes e class saloon 2990 cc 7 speed auto - Towing a caravan 6 May 2016 (Forum)
I know several people who have been towing caravans who have never heard of such requirements particularly the larger petrol tank idea, and a number of high mileage fleet operators are also unaware of them. Do I run a risk of a mechanical failure if I ignore this advice? -
Mini one - Hoping someone can help, MOT failure question. 30 Apr 2016 (Forum)
From reading around it seems they might be trying to rip me off. I have had no warning signs and the car has been running fine. We do use it for short journeys only, which I know could be an issue. Just wanting some advice from more knowledgable people on here. Not sure if I should pay for upgrade of service to include spark plugs etc. -
