Road caves in half an hour after driving on it 1 May 2009 (Forum)
I am quite shocked by this, I drive downt his stretch of road about 2-3 times a week and is only 2.5 miles from where I live. http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/s/1112627_hole_halts_traffic I drove down this just half an hour before, I remember being stuck in traffic behind a police van I just feel so lucky I set off when I did and if I didn't have a car there was a good chance I would have been on the bus which went over it :( It is nice to see our raod tax goes on inspections to ensure roads don't just fall in. -
Ford KA, KA2, KA3 (1996 - 2008) - Ford Ka as a cheap runaround 24 Apr 2009 (Forum)
Having reconsidered budgets regarding purchase price and running costs I was thinking of the Ka. I'd never previously considered a Ka but a friend has just bought an S Reg. I was amazed at just how simple and basic it looked. It was strangely refreshing to see bare metal and basic controls. It even looks vaguely repairable by a DIY mechanic compared to my Pug 406! -
Thoughts on DRLs (Day Running Lights) 3 Apr 2009 (Forum)
I've read threads about use of sidelights in poor visibility, which I think DRL's address quite nicely, though there fitment to my car was purely incidental. I noticed Fiat 500's, and many Volvo's & BMW's, and of course all those Audi led ones. Mind a lot of the Beemers seem to drive with lights on in daytime. I think they just like to pose with those "angel eyes" lights. -
Warranty Direct -no pairs exclusion 31 Mar 2009 (Forum)
Had recent f/n/s coil spring failure; no problem said W/D, get it done. My Vx garage and Vx themselves, strongly recommend doing both sides [the springs from Vx are only supplied in pairs, perhaps to reinforce this message]. -
Sad number plate fiddling. 19 Mar 2009 (Forum)
Why bother to put that yellow/white/black bolt just *there* so that your number plate has your initials, or something that? Why bother to hack the "4" about, so that it's distorted and looks like an A? Change "5" into "S"? This after dropping the boy off at school this morning, & looking at the mummies cars made up like this. A Lard Rover Discovery with an oblong plate decorated with what should have been "NXXX/MXX" changed to "LXXXM/XX" (or something like that). -

Renault Scenic (1999 - 2003) - 01 1.9dci loss of drive 13 Jan 2009 (Forum)
I have spoken to a renault dealer and the seem to think its the clutch, another garage thinks it could be a drive shaft? I had no problems up till now with the drive of gears. I have noticed the the O/S tyre has worn would this happen if the drive shaft has been on its way out. steering wheel did wobble a bit at speeds between 70- 80. if anyone has any ideas and could help i would be very thanksfull. -
Minor bump - 3 points+fixed penalty fine 29 Dec 2008 (Forum)
If you have a bump currently no police will attend unless there is an injury- normally drivers only exchange names, address, Ins Co etc - with the proposed change in the law the Govt will be keen to have police attend as the Treasury gets the £60/£100 fines. More ££££s driven tax raising rather than policing in my opinion -

Volkswagen Touran MPV (2003 - ) - 04 1.6 FSi Cambelt change query 22 Dec 2008 (Forum)
Apologies if this has been asked before. What is the change interval for the timing belt on 1.6FSi engine fitted to a 2004 Touran S ? Am I correct in reading it has been reduced to 40k miles or 4 years whichever comes first as the service log book seems to suggest far longer interval. The above car was serviced by JCB VW Ashford last Easter on its 4th birthday, mileage was around 26k, and the dealer made no mention of a belt change. -
BMW 5-Series E28 (1982 - 1987) - Am I being rose tinted or am I mad or just naive ? 18 Oct 2008 (Forum)
Hey all, I'm considering in looking at the above titled Bavarian beast. I've checked out the insurance for myself driver only & for someone who is in their 20's TPF&T isn't bad, nearly the same as an MG ZR. What're they like to own? What is the 520i like for fuel consumption? although I only do about 6k miles per annum, as I hardly drive during the week, I do ocasionally go on longer trips away. -
Volvo S40/V40 (1996 - 2004) - 98 2.0 T Climate Control Fault 15 Oct 2008 (Forum)
Hello all. I have a Volvo V40 2.0 Turbo S-Reg (1998). The car has climate control that has recently gone into fault mode. The cabin cooling fan doesn't work and the LEDs on the AC button flash - the user manual says this indicates a fault with the climate control system. -
Here's one the police did get right... 29 Sep 2008 (Forum)
Decided to post this after seeing the locked thread about the grandmother. http://www.journallive.co.uk/north-east-news/todays-news/2008/09/27/family-man-s-killer-jailed-for-10-years-61634-21912322/ Finally sorted this link - third time lucky. For some reason it took a dislike to TinyURL -
Mitsubishi - 1994 1100 Circuit diagram for ECU 24 Sep 2008 (Forum)
Can anyone out there please offer an alternative source for the circuit diagram of an ECU manufactured by Mitsubishi in the early to mid 90's? The PCB is in an ECU which controls a magnetic clutch ( which is also a Mitsubishi product ) on a Fiat car from 1993. Needless to say, Fiat have been of no help at all and Mitsubishi UK have ( so far ) failed to respond to any email contact. -
Ford Fiesta (2002 - 2008) - Which vehicle fluids...? 16 Sep 2008 (Forum)
Obviously I want to be careful what I use to preserve the warranty on the car. Is my only option to go to a Ford garage and let them do it for ££££££££'s?
