  • Honda Accord 2.4 type s 2003 75k miles - bearing type noise from Accord 16 Jul 2010 (Forum)
I have just had both front wheel bearings replaced to cure what was taken as an obvious bearing problem. the noise continues, it sounds like a worn bearing but i am now advised that it may be a problem with the drive shaft. the drive shaft has now been removed for testing and no problem has been found. Drive shaft has been replaced but still the noise continues. Mechanic suggests waiting untill noise becomes more accute and then possiblt replacing drive shaft.

I could be wrong for thinking this but I think driving slower does NOT always mean better mpg.
  • Volkswagen Eos Coupe Cabrio (2006 - ) - VW dealer test drive 20 May 2009 (Forum)
VW literature states that only the 2LTSI 200PS and 3.2 V6 engines can have Individual trim. Do you think I was given the 2LTSI to test drive?
  • Drive off - Seatbelt on whilst pulling away 15 May 2009 (Forum)
Often see people get into a car, start up, pull away, then struggle to get seat belt on with one hand whilst driving away, or even steering (probably) with knees whilst using two hands to tug on the belt. I know some one will say "stupidity" but I am interested in the deeper reason. I have even seen someone drive off whilst putting belt on one handed whilst half turning in seat to clump a kid in the back.

  • Driving a SORN back to UK 29 Mar 2008 (Forum)
I have a car here in a garage in Estonia that is on SORN with expired MOT. I have insurance. I need to get the car back to UK. I understand I can drive an untaxed vehicle to a pre-arranged MOT test. Can I therefore make an appointment in writing with my usual MOT tester (say in Basingstoke) for the day of arrival from the Dover ferry and simply drive 1hr45 to the MOT station?
  • Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - yr 2000 1.6LX Auto: twanging noise at NSF 7 Jan 2008 (Forum)
When I drove it today, it made loud "twanging" noises from around the near-side front part of the car while driving along. I decided to turn around at the bottom of the road and drive back home in case driving the car more could exacerbate the problem. Any suggestions what might be wrong? Do you think it's OK to drive it to a garage or should I have it towed?
  • Advanced Driving 18 Dec 2007 (Forum)
I have been looking recently at improving my driving skills by taking some sort of advanced driving course. I have looked into it and there seems to be so much choice and was just wondering if anyone else could share their experiences. I had a look at the RideDrive site.

  • Raising driving age to 18? 7 Jan 2007 (Forum)
They say this will discourage youngsters from starting to smoke and reduce death rates. While they are about it surely it would be sensible to raise the age limit for driving a car to 18. It could be argued that this will also save lives as young drivers are more likely to have an accident. Being able to drive is like a badge of honour and would compliment being able to buy alcohol, cigarettes and vote, making coming of age a real change.

  • M.O.T. Question - leaking drive shaft. 7 Mar 2004 (Forum)
Little Seicento is due for its 2nd MOT within the fortnight, so whist checking all parts of the car to see if its working, locking, and not leaking. I've notice that the passenger side drive shaft from the gearbox is leaking small amounts of oil from the gearbox, as I understand one of the seals internally has gone after 36k miles. Now the leak is not major its just small amounts have gone onto the gaiter and drive shaft.
  • Driving Fleet cars, is there an IT solut 26 Oct 2003 (Forum)
Driving Fleet cars, is there an IT solution to identifying who was driving when? We have a large pool of a cars at work, which are accessed by a lot of staff. Although they all have a "Log book" which drivers are supposed to fill in with times/dates/mileage most of them don't, and when we get the odd NIP for a GATSO, its really difficult to track down the driver, putting various people at risk of being prosecuted for not providing information on the driver.
  • European driving - INSURANCE 18 Dec 2002 (Forum)
Do all UK insurance polcies cover the very basic insurance Third party only for driving in the EU? I have looked on various sites on the net and many state that all uk insurance policies must have TPO cover in the EU. http://www.rightquote-car-insurance.co.uk/driving_abroad.html being 1.
  • Driving Long Distances. 9 Sep 2002 (Forum)
Ripley suggested this should have been done in two 250 mile stints. Utter tosh. I've driven 600 miles to a party and I presume delivery drivers drive 8 hours a day every day of their lives. I *do* accept that driving when tired is a mistake - I know at least one prerson who crashed after a 22 hour stretch of work. Just don't see why 5-6 hundred miles or 8-10 hours would be that big an issue.
