  • The right Hon 7 Aug 2010 (Ask HJ)
With reference to the email from FM printed on May 29th I have a love hate relationship with the Honda Jazz. The 08 Jazz I loved. The 010 I absolutely...
  • Can Fusion? 31 Jul 2010 (Ask HJ)
I am puzzled why you, and other reviewers, are so reluctant to recommend Ford Fusions? I have a 2006/56 Fusion Zetec TDCi 1.6, do about 12k miles a year...
  • The fuel in the hull 1 Aug 2009 (Ask HJ)
What is happening to the fuel prices? I heard on the wireless that there was a glut of oil and yet Petrol prices here in S.E. Kent are 103.9p a litre....
  • best hosepipe for car washing? (limited space) 4 Sep 2024 (Forum)
Luckily, there are no pavements to worry about. My main concern is that I have very limited indoor storage space, so I'm looking for the most compact solution. My parents have a Karcher pressure washer that I could borrow occasionally, but I’m not sure if I have room to store it. But I might use that for the occasional clean.
  • Please help recommend a family car 20 Mar 2024 (Forum)
My main requirements are that it is reliable, can handle three car seats comfortably, and has ample storage space for carting buggies etc.  7 seats would be preferred for bringing grandparents but not a deal-breaker..  3 isofix points are a plus but can can often belt the middle one.  I would probably be doing something like 8000km a year.
  • Renault Grand Scenic MK III 2010 - APPROX repair / diagnostic costs in this list 1 Apr 2023 (Forum)
    * Fog and / or water test to establish water ingress issues evidenced in two doors, beneath the underfloor passenger storage box (and possibly the dash area) * Brake pedal cover replacement. * Investigations to oil leak seen in engine bay. * Misalignment investigation to one door and repair.
  • MERCEDES-BENZ 300sl roadster - Long time since started 13 Oct 2016 (Forum)
My mum can't drive but I think her uncle left it to her as she used to enjoy being driven in it as a child so I've Been asked to move it to  secure storage for her. I'm inclined to get the car taxd and tested and drive it but have reservations on its ability to start and how being sat up for 34 years might have affectedit. Body wise it's in superb condition.
  • 2003 Ford Focus auto 1.6 - Disconnecting the battery 27 Dec 2013 (Forum)
At the end of January I will be going abroad for 12 months and am leaving the car in a storage container. It was suggested that I disconnect the battery when storing it, I just looked in the Haynes manual to see which terminal I should disconnect first and read that if I disconnect the battery the ECU will lose the information stored in it's memory (KAM), this includes idling and operating values  and any fault codes detected, it goes on..........
  • Volkswagen Golf - New tyre valves needed for winter tyre change? 19 May 2012 (Forum)
I bought winter tyres for the first time last winter, from Kwikfit and used their "tyre hotel" storage service for my summer tyres. On arranging to swap back to the summer tyres via their website, I find it is impossible to avoid being charged for a new set of valves, at a price of £19, even though I do not want them, as I did buy new valves when I bought the new winter tyres only last December.
  • Toyota Yaris II/Vitz (2006 - ) - New Yaris 1.3 TR - Really Bad Experience 5 Jun 2008 (Forum)
The temptation is to leave the wretched thing with the dealer but I suspect they will try to charge for storage.
  • Spacious & high five seater? 3 Jun 2008 (Forum)
This would mean we require the following items: - # three separate seats in the back (rather than a bench, where the middle passenger is an afterthought) # Steering wheel controls of the radio # A higher than standard driving position # A nice gap between the two front seats enabling smaller people to walk through from front passenger seat to rear area, the gap unencumbered by handbrakes, gear levers etc, and permitting the safe storage of a hangbag out of reach of theiving scrotes who might normally break a window, lean in and grab hadbag from front pasenger seat. The best example of the latter in a five seater was our old Honda CRV and the Trajet has that as well.
  • Little things that prevent a purchase 27 Mar 2008 (Forum)
They've replaced the gear stick surround with a black one, no problem. Then I found out they've removed the little storage area from around the seats; oh dear, it's left me puzzled and put off buying another. I'm sticking with my present motor for a few years now; funny how little things put me off. The old version had no coat hooks and the big metal bar in boot is dreadful but why Mitsubishi did you take out such a useful feature so save a few pennies more...
  • Should I get a bigger motorbike or a maxi scooter? 9 Oct 2020 (Ask HJ)
I live in Cyprus and want a maxi scooter it mainly for going to work (city), but I'm also using the highway for about 15km to go to work and another 15km...
  • Bought an Aston Martin at auction that is not as described 14 Jun 2016 (Ask HJ)
I recently bought an Aston Martin at auction on an absent bid as I was away. The car was sold to me as a running and driving prototype. I plan to show...
  • Trident 24 - "Traditional" Ethylene Glycol Based Antifreeze 17 Feb 2025 (Forum)
For this priority use I dont need (and may not want) the corrosion inhibitor package, so the simplest unsupplemented stuff would be best, but if I can manage it I might also want to drain and flush the raw seawater cooling system, so corrosion inhibitors might still be useful there. This use would be for storage only, not operation, so ultimately total loss, and fancy stuff is probably contraindicated.
  • Big SUV-type cars - - not dead yet 1 Oct 2023 (Forum)
But what is very noticeable is the variety of big family SUVs on the driveways here (the double garages seem to be used as storage space), mostly of Asian ancestry even if assembled in the US.  A typical morning dog walk would see many from Toyota -  Highlander, Venza, Sequoia, Sienna, 4Runner;   Nissan Armada and the ubiquitous Honda Odyssey, plus the odd Honda Pilot.
  • Lanzarote hire car 29 Jul 2022 (Forum)
The sliding doors and flat floor made access a breeze. Plenty of room in the front with masses of storage space for stuff. The boot easily swallowed all the luggage, far better than the Ford Eco Sport we were 'upgraded' to in Italy 3 years ago.  On the road it wasn't too bad to drive. It didn't feel too sluggish and kept up with others around.
  • Peugeot 207 SW - Electrical problem - dashboard side light warning 3 Jan 2019 (Forum)
I bought the car second hand from a main dealer about 4 months ago.  I noticed lots of packs of bulbs in the storage space and thought nothing of it, not sure if it's related. The problems are, (these things were fine at first) The dashboard side light on notification doesn't light when the lights are turned on, I'm convinced there was one before??
  • Honda Jazz/Fit (2008 - ) - Reflection of fascia panel (top) on windscreen 3 Oct 2009 (Forum)
I must say that I was very impressed with Honda Jazz Ex model and spent quite a while assessing it's suitability in the event of my deciding to downsize from my CRV, since it provided excellent storage and passenger accessibility. Needless to say, their demonstrator was not there at that particular time, but I did drive the earler Jazz loaned to me as a courtesy car and found the reflection of the fascia top to be rather annoying.
  • Rip-off Dealer only parts 27 Jun 2008 (Forum)
OK, I've had my Citroen C8 for 5 months now and overall I'm really pleased. There are a few niggles, such as the storage compartments - although there are a multitude of them, they are all really odd shapes and can't fit anything regular in them (CD's for instance!) But, my clever (I had other words at the time) son decided it would be fun to fiddle with the built in sunblind on the Sliding door.
