citroen ax starting problems 2 Jun 2004 (Forum)
I also had to top up the coolant levels with about 1/2 litre, though they were all topped up and checked when the car was fixed - on 22nd May. I can't see any visible leaks coming from below the car. Has anyone had any similar problems to this? -
Loss of power in Rover Metro 998cc 20 Nov 2002 (Forum)
She did overheat on Friday night, and she has been getting worse since then. There is no mayo on the oil filler cap. She has always lost coolant (throught the heater fins), so its difficult to know whether she has lost more than usual, but I have a suspicion she HAS lost coolant. No bubbles in the radiator filler tank when running though. -
Kenlowe Hot-Start 7 Feb 2001 (Forum)
I have a year-old Focus tdi, which I hope to keep for a long time! I bought Hot-Start, on the basis of its manufacturer's claims that, by heating the coolant to 80C, it eliminates most cold-start wear & high fuel consumption. It has a built-in 3Kw heater & a pump, which is plumbed into the heater circuit. Fitting is claimed to be 'an easy DIY job'. Comments? -

Multi vee belts - bmw 320d 14 May 2006 (Forum)
My 320d is approaching the 100k mark fairly soon and has had the coolant and brake fluid changed and it just struck me that the fan belt might be getting tired by now. I was wondering what life expectancy would you get from these? -

HJ's CBC Mentioned in despatches. 10 Dec 2004 (Forum)
According to a friend from Wales HJ's CBC Breakdown had a mention in a Consumer Programme on their ITV3 last night. It was in relation to a Porsche Boxster with gungy coolant. The programme (The Ferret) showed a print out from this site stating "don't touch one in this condition". Fame indeed. -

Cooling System Pressure Testing Pug 309D 20 Jan 2004 (Forum)
I'm losing coolant slowly so had a garage do a pressure test and no leaks were detected. On the equipment that does the test is there a gauge that can be monitored to see if the pressure drops? Because if so, then if the needle drops there is obviously a leak somewhere. -
Volvo XC60 - Really need some advice - faulty car from garage 3 Sep 2021 (Forum)
I purchased a 16 plate car from a local garage on 13th August. Went to collect the car and as soon as I drove it off the forecourt noticed an engine coolant warning. Walked straight back into the garage to raise this to be told it was due to new coolant being added and the system not registering etc etc - forgive me I have very basic car knowledge. Was assured after the manager drove it that it had plenty of coolant and the warning would disappear and if not, they would collect and fix this. -
Vauxhall Astra 2014 - Used car purchased-faults - dealership not refundi 14 Oct 2018 (Forum)
Hi I brought a Vauxhall Astra 4 weeks ago from a used car dealer. Within a 3/4 days I had a engine message saying the coolant was low. So I took it to my mechanic he said to just fill it up with coolant which I did. Within a few days the engine message came up again. So I emailed the dealer and explain to them what happened and also The fact that water was somehow getting into the door and I had a bucket load of water after one night of heavy rainfall. -
Citroen Berlingo 1.9D 54 plate - 'Unsolvable' over-heating problem! 27 Dec 2014 (Forum)
Once it gets there, it takes quite a while to come back down even coasting and blipping the throttle to maintain coolant flow. I managed to stabilise it at 65mph, bang on 90C. What I have tried so far: Numerous thermostats and coolant changes. Upper and lower radiator hoses New radiator fitted in January (It is a Nissens part - anyone in the trade care to comment if these are OEM quality?) -

Ford Ka - cooling system and overheating 29 Dec 2013 (Forum)
I've just had a bit of a saga with my 05 50k 1.3 duratec Ka cooling system and thought a few of my experiences might be useful to someone with this car. First problem was a split header tank which is a regular problem leading to lost coolant and overheating. Fixed it and thena few months later overheating again in a major way. system ran out of coolant and light came on. Found the plastic thermostat manifold on the right side was cooked and had broken letting rapid loss of coolant. -
Ford Focus Ecoboost 2012 - Degas Hose recall 28 Jan 2016 (Forum)
I broke down on the motorway with an overheated car recently, which turned out to be the degas hose, having split in half and poured out all the coolant. I found out the next day it was a recalled part, for which we have never recieved a letter. Our local ford garage (whose aftercare is APPALLING), changed the hose, but since the car has run badly and is still leaking the coolant. -
Audi A4 Avant - 2007 Audi A4 2.0L TDI Water Leaking From Engine? 11 May 2012 (Forum)
The coolant does not seem to be leaking from the heater matrix as I am not getting condensation into the car. The next step would be to take the head off while it is all apart but the expense is starting to add up and I'm a bit concerned. -

VW Passat 1.9TDI 100 (PD) - MPG seems too low? 28 Jan 2012 (Forum)
The engine wasn't running at normal temp (true reading from the cliamtic control panel showed the temp wasn't going above mid 60's). I've since replaced the coolant temp sender/thermostat and coolant (50/50mix) and the car now runs at the normal 90degC and warms up much faster. That was last night, and on my journey in today, I got an average of around 39mpg.
