• Hyundai ix35 - Battery problems, 3 years old 30 May 2017 (Forum)
  Perhaps the climate control draw was high? 10 minutes at the most, car won't start.   Hyundai dealer have checked the battery and stated that it tests ok, but needs a 'full trickle charge'. The car charging system apparently will only charge it up 'so far'. The battery isn't faulty (and only has a two year warranty anyway - depsite the Hyundai 5 year warrranty)....

  The car will always start fine whenever this happens and I'm able to pull away without a problem. It started doing this following a flat battery over the Christmas holidays, which I'd recharged. As I've had flat battery issues before, I decided to use this opportunity to replace the battery and a new battery has not solved the stalling problem.

  It does appear that this may be a rather generous SG but I can not find my SG bulb to test it. Clearly taking the battery back is an option but if it is a SG thing then the whole patch will be like it. Has anyone else come across this new initial high voltage or is it really a duff battery. I purchased smaller Fiaam battery for another car 4 months ago and did exactly the same with that but it topped out at 14.6 volts and quickly fell to 12.8 volts.

  If wiring was at fault he suggested that the alternator could act to drain the battery whilst parked. Went to work after a 40 minute drive to get the battery charged up and parked it. Checked voltage/car start every couple of hours and didn't find a reoccurence, maybe the AA man had temporarily fixed it with his fiddling?

    So my question is, what are the chances that the new battery alone would resolve the sensor issues, considering that fault codes have been found with the sensors? If it was a case of the battery causing the sensor issues, would fault codes still have been found?

  I've got a 2009 Astra and the battery light keeps coming on.   About a month ago, the car broke down completely - the alternator belt snapped, so I was towed home and the local garage fitted a new belt.   All seemed fine, however later that day the battery light started coming on intermittently.

  I've concluded the following: a) The alternator + drive belt are fine b) The starter motor is lazy at first, but otherwise fine c) The battery is dying but is only 10 months old. A reading of 11.9V is indicative of a battery in a fair state of discharge. Do any of you agree with my diagnosis, before I trundle back to Halfords for yet another new battery?

  Went out this morning, the starter didn't even want to engage. I tried the windows, and they were very sluggish ... So, off across the road to local battery/exhaust/tyre place. Explain situation, he says no problem, we jump in his car with toolbox and new battery and back home. He disconnects battery, connects a quick charger to it, and we open the top. dead cell.

  I tried then tried to re-charge the battery but it wouldn't hold a charge so replaced with a new one.   With the new battery, the dash lights are come on, the red immobiliser padlock flashes one every 2 seconds.

  In the HJ Archive way back in 2001 (Monday 22nd October at 1409 hrs to be precise) there's a thread about fitting a new battery. http://www.honestjohn.co.uk/forum/post/index.htm?t=2204#m18757 I have the dubious honour of posting in it. Mention is made of the Draper 'Memory Saver' that you plug in to the cig. lighter socket to keep the settings during the battery swap.

  Hi i replaced my alternator because it wasn't charging my battery and i broke down. Well new one fitted charging now at 13.8v and does go up when i rev, the battery is ok tested at 12.5v with engine off and holds it is the calcium type aswell. problem is my battery light still comes on, i took advice and unplugged battery for couple of minutes and reconnected, had nothing turned on for 15 minutes then started car again, the light came on again. confused it takes around 30 seconds for the light to come on every time i am not sure of the problem.

  I have a 58 plate mondeo titanium 2 litre petrol. Had car about 6 months and battery died on me. Changed battery, all good. About 3 months later car died again and breakdown couldn't start it battery was so dead. Since then it has failed on me half a dozen times. The last time I did a 100 mile run on a thu, drove it short distance to work and back on fri, by 10am sat morning it was dead.

  On journey, suddenly van loses all power and rolls to halt on country road. Try starting it , nothing!. Lift bonnet, check cables to battery, fry my fingers. Realise positive battery feed wire has come up against sharp bodywork and has earthed it. Disconnect battery quickly as lead is very hot. No other signs of problems. Replace battery, nothing, buy new battery, replace it , nothing.

  I've removed the dash cluster unit and cleaned it, and given it a light coating of ACF-50 spray, but the problems remain.  I've got a DTC 9317 code, (high battery voltage). The dash LCD is showing between 14v and 18v.  I've read on various forums various solutions, such as changing the speed sensor, alternator and battery. Does anyone have any idea which is the best thing to replace first, or have any better ideas??

  A short time ago went to leave cottage in France and car would not start, seemed like flat battery,tried to jump it with portable battery pack but no joy. Eventually had to call out breakdown service. They put new battery in car and it started, but, as the car is less than two years old we got a tow to a Citroen garage.

  (i've also popped in to work and run up the truck engine for half an hour, not a hope that it would start otherwise) As an aside i had to change the battery a few weeks ago, now i always buy good quality things if possible and the battery was no exception, but the new one i bought 14 or so months previously just died without warning. That was a top German battery and i've had that make for years without the slightest problem, so was very surprised when it suddenly packed up.

  I’ve just parked my Jaguar for what will probably be six weeks, and I’m debating whether or not to disconnect the battery. It’s a fresh Yuasa, so in good condition, so the debate is to either wield an 8mm spanner and remove the earth lead or not. It’s parked on the street so a trickle charger isn’t an option, and it’s now too late to get a solar charger.

  Hi, i've got a 2011 Suzuki swift, overnight the battery had drained, nothing seems to be left on, this car normally has no problems at all, it done it once at an airport after been left for 2 weeks.   Would it be possible that the blower in the on position could draw power?

  I have the code to input to reset after a flat battery, but once i've put in the 4 digits what do I do next. Display telling me 'wait 30 mins' as if I have to try again then. Which button to press after actual code ?
