Ford, Seat or....Porsche?? 3 Jan 2006 (Forum)
I keep telling him the RS naturally but he thinks I may be somewhat biased. 1) Ford Focus RS 2) Seat Leon Cupra R 3) Porsche Boxtser S I know you're all probably going to say the Porsche but assume that's an outside chance of being able to afford it so just assume it's a possibility whilst the other two are definites. The RS is the best one isn't it? -
Escort diesel van lacks power 16 Dec 2005 (Forum)
I wonder if anyone could offer an opinion/advice please? I have an Escort diesel van 'S' reg non turbo and you'd swear I was carrying 5 tons in the back! Some hills are no go areas as there is such a severe lack of power. I went to a local garage who suspected it was going to cost £300 to repair. -
Re: Help - Wrong fuel!! 14 Dec 2005 (Forum)
I put £4 worth of unleaded into my boyfriend's diesel Golf TDI S reg today. Petrol attendant told me it would 'probably' be ok to top it up with diesel and let it run for a few minutes to burn off. It ended up with £40 diesel to £4 petrol and has run fine for a 200 mile return trip. -
Gus Wilson Stories 1 Nov 2005 (Forum)
When I was a young lad in Canada in the 60's, I used to enjoy reading the Gus Wilson stories in Popular Science magazine. Gus fictionally ran a small town garage and, every month, he solved difficult car problems in a systematic and inventive way. -
1998 Primera How do I keep it going 15 Aug 2005 (Forum)
I have a 2 litre 1998 's' Primera. It has leather and all that and I really like it. Fuel consumption is okay 35-37 mpg and it does me okay. I want to keep it for a couple of years longer. It is has now done 93,500 miles and ticks over like it did when I bought it in Jan 2001.I get it serviced yearly and change the oil about every 5000 miles. -
V6 - Single Turbo?? 11 Aug 2005 (Forum)
I maybe remembering incorrectly here? I know that the Ford-PSA 2.7 V6 in the S-Type and C6 etc is a twin turbo set-up. I seem to remember that the new discovery with this engine only has one turbo though. Is this true? If so where is this turbo situated and is it just linked to one bank. -
Engine Oil prices 9 Jun 2005 (Forum)
The viscosity is the same, just thought it might save me few bobs as I am changing oil 3 times a year. Anyone used Tesco?s own brand? -

Vx Omega leak into cab 2 May 2005 (Forum)
Hi all, I have an 1994 Omega, has an elec. sunroof. There's water stains on the n/s velour pillar, you know, the 'corner' of the w/screen. I've checked the drain hole on that side of the sunroof, but it looks ok......just like the other side's hole. Could this be the cause even tho. it looks ok? -
Car Hire in USA or UK 20 Feb 2005 (Forum)
If so, what do you think of them. They have offered to price match any rate I get elsewhere. Alternatively s it better to rent when we get there? -
French 4x4 15 Jan 2005 (Forum)
Sitting in a jam on a french motorway, as many cars passed quicker than me (typical) I wondered why the french manufacturers have not entered the 4x4 market. OK, in the 80's you could get a 4x4 405 and BX; and Renault did the Scenic RX4 but they've never done a big 4x4. Given Citroen's experience of hydaulic suspension you would think they would be well placed to enter this market. -
Bullbars 24 Dec 2004 (Forum)
Sorry a quote from the "4x4's in accidents" thread had made me rather cross! >> it was discovered that there was absolutely no evidence of any cases where a bull-bar had been responsible for increasing the seriousness of injury in any accident. >> Sorry, that is the biggest load of rubbish I have heard for years, infact it makes me quite angry!!!!!!!! -
Astra - diesel pump interchangeability. 21 Dec 2004 (Forum)
Hi, Would really appreciate some advice on the following. I'm having to replace a x20DTL engine on my 1999/S 2.0 DI 16V. I'm replacing the fuel pump too (as this has broken) and want to know if I can get away with using a replacement engine with a fuel pump that has a slightly different code to the original one? -
Zafira Gsi Turbo 15 Dec 2004 (Forum)
We have found one at a local dealer who wants 22695 for a version with full leather, rear sensors, fr. and rr. s/r, and r/rails .Oh he will knock 400 off for cash .Big deal I thought. On H J's suggestion I've been offered one without the trinkets for 17973 through broker4Cars or 20340 with the goodies. Any thoughts gratefully received. -
ford escort central locking 14 Nov 2004 (Forum)
Hi, My son's just bought a 1991 escort but it has a central locking problem. He is able to lock the doors from the outside but unable to unlock the car from the driver`s side door. Looking at previous forum Q and A's I gather worn locks or keys are the reason. He only has the one key with the car. Is it feasible to swap the passenger door lock with the driver's door lock, this would at least save him having to run around the car every time he needs to get in? -
How many coats of gloss protection ? 17 Sep 2004 (Forum)
Would it protect better or last longer?? I quite enjoy doing it. After a day failing to make some teenagers any more bright, it\'s good to succeed with something that looks better afterwards, doesn\'t answer back and doesn\'t resent my efforts!! -
Owners Manual Howlers 2 Sep 2004 (Forum)
Hi All Reading through my MX 5's owners manual tonight it's absolutely FULL of "CAUTION!" and "WARNING!" boxes with classics like; "Do not attempt to install the hardtop with the convertible top also up." "Standing in the vehicle...when it's moving is a dangerous way to ride. -
mid size car for 3 grand? 9 Aug 2004 (Forum)
Ideally would have aircon, and a big enough boot for a weeks camping equipment. Ideas so far include: Citroen Xsara 1.8 (S plate) Audi A4 (120k plus miles N or P plate) Peugeot 306 Which would people say makes the best buy? Any other ideas? SWMBO is tempted by the audi, but do they make good high mileage buys? Thanks people......... -
Vectra C SRi - Looking for quieter tyres 9 Jul 2004 (Forum)
The Goodyears seem to be an excellent all round tyre, but they are very noisy on certain surfaces.. Anyone know of a quieter alternative in the 215/50 17 sizes? I did try pirelli p6000's on the omega and they were pretty good, but not necessarily ideal. THanks SImon _____________________________________ -

They seem to be daring me to just barge into them. I assume this is just laziness/frustration, but it\'s annoying John
