• Volvo V50 2 Litre Diesel 2008 - Volvo V50 - low idle, no throttle response 23 Apr 2019 (Forum)
  I have an intermittent problem where when I turn on engine it has low idle and no throttle response.  To date the following work has been done to it, first by our local Volvo specialist and more recently by a Volvo dealer: (1) filter changed; (2) excess carbon removed around throttle housing; (3) EGR valve has been replaced. I am told by the Volvo dealer that the diagnostic testing is not showing any codes.

  I have requested the dealership to take this up with Volvo on my behalf as a seat belt item is fundamental to the safety of the vehicle and does not constitute a wear and tear item. The Dealership said they would try but were not optimistic? If this repair cost is rejected and if i were to take it up with Volvo what points to i need to make to make the case stronger?

  s80 - 53Reg - 5 -cyl D5 Fault code - generic one  engine service required balck smoke from exhaust after warmup  (3-5 miles) pipes on the engine replaced - think they are turbo/intercooler pipes manifold off and checked swapped EGR valve injectors bench tested been to volvo specialist Spent £700 so far and still not fixed, any ideas welcome - Thanks.

  Hi I am interested in a Volvo V70 I have seen on Ebay. It is a D5 SE spec, 04, 54-plate with 73K miles. It is for sale 'make an offer' or 'buy it now' for £7995. Any opinions on the price? Seems a little high to me, should I offer 7K?

  interesting to note amid all the tributes to the late jazz musician and radio comic host Humphrey Littleton in today's newspapers, that he "maintained a dogged attachment to a battered Volvo estate in which he reputedly clocked up more than 250,000 miles". A truly multi talented guy and so unpretentious, as his choice of aged vehicle shows. Which car and how old, I wonder, would each of us like to own when "our time" comes?

  The rear door on my mother's elderly Volvo 760 estate seems to have dropped very slightly. Looking at the coach lines about 3mm but it's enough to rub the paint. I can't see any adjustment but then I'm not very clued up on Volvos. Can it be adjusted?

  I purchased a Volvo XC60 2.4 diesel recently with a full Volvo service record, when it was 3 years old with 60,000 miles on the odometer. Last month the car developed a random, intermittent, 'non-starting' fault.

  All car manufacturers protect themselves from misrepresentation by adding such words in their brochures' as:- "figures produced in perfect driving conditions and subject to the way the cars are driven". I do not consider 20% below the published figures to be realistic but obviously Volvo does?? I know I am not alone in this situation, I have read on this site alone, other people experiencing poor fuel economy from Volvo's 2.0 Ltr diesel engine. Volvo obviously have no conscience regarding their customers, especially when they publicize what a caring organisation they are with excellent after sales service and so, NO MORE VOLVOS' FOR ME!!!

  I have recently acquired the Volvo from new (2WD, D3). I have done approximately 2000 miles and the current snowy weather in east Lancashire has revealed very poor traction in slippery conditions. The OEM Michelin Primacy 4 (235/55R18/100V) do not seem up to the job.

  Hi all , if made this thread for when I do , do a review of the Kia Niro still early days yet , but will be doing one near Christmas.   But just wanted to let you know my boyfriend has decided on the Volvo XC40 and told me to not worry about Volvo's reliability as he said illI be extending the warranty to 5yrs so I'll be covered and have peace of mind for 5yrs.    Anyways he's ordered the Volvo XC40 and once he has got it and owned it for a few months he's going to join here and do a review on this thread for anyone who may be interested in the Volvo XC40.
