  I had lunch with my ex business partner today. We did a lot of catching up and the subject turned to cars. He has a Jag S-type which was impounded by his dealer last week because it needed discs and pads. He found out earlier this week that there are no S-type discs to be had nationally, so he continues to drive the Discovery lent to him under the terms of Jaguar Assist.

  Reading this morning's Telegraph, Skoda appear to have an accent over their 'S'. Is this new, or have I just been very unobservant? And if so, anybody know what this does to the pronunciation? Does it make it a Shkoda?

  Has anyone else noticed the 'stiction' with the Type S? There appears to be a real relutance to allow very slight steeing adjustments especially when at speed on a straight road. A slight, minor correction in road position normally just requires a tiny turn of the wheel but (my) Type S steering doesn't want to move until an appreciable force is applied and then, of course, the correction is too much.

  It didn`t help that leaves and twigs were produced from behind her seat on one of her internal clean-ups. Yeah, who cares about the inside? It`s a van. A van that`s being used privately as a two seater car, only with a large `boot`. It`s basic and one up on a chariot, what with it`s wind up windows and heater. Only weighing in at around 1,000kg, it`s also decidedly nippy too with it`s almost 200nm of torque at 1,750 revs.

  Bit of a retro question this but where has Duckhams oils gone to ? I know they belong to an era of TR7's and Rover SD1's etc . Can't find anything on the net about them. I note they are sold by very few (handfull) on retailers who are specialist in Rover parts etc Is a brand from the 70's like Mobil 1 from the early 90's that will pass into history ?

  Apparently there are two different alternators for this model, and i need like for like, or the ECU will reject a new one if its wrong? I can't remove current one myself, access is limited, but it is a VALEO unit, S:7823343 Anyone had these issues with this car? cheers

  I have a Honda civic type S 54 plate, The VSA light plus the exclamation light is on. the Honda garage said following a diagnostic the VSA modulator needs renewing at a cost of £1600 +.  If I bought one from a breakers yard can it be fitted and work or does it have a code from the donating car?

  Are modern volvo\'s as durable as those made in the 1980\'s such as the 740 and 240 model range. I seem to remember that these cars regularly sailed passed 100k and could go on for 2 if not 300k with ease (provided of course they are serviced regularly).
