  • any - long term weekend car rental 2 Mar 2017 (Forum)
I am thinking around options to avoid buying a second car. Right now we have one car used by my wife for the school run and weekends. I commute to work by bike / public transport. Of late, there are several childrens' activities during the weekends, and they are now begining to overlap. So it would make things more convenient to have a second car on Saturdays.

  • Peugeot 206 SW - peugeot 206 1.4 hdi noisy and shaky engine 10 Apr 2016 (Forum)
i have a 2005 peugeot 206 1.4 hdi around 180.000 kms. recently, the engine started to run very noisy and extremely vibrating/shaking, some kind of rapid ticking sound comes out of it (from the timing belt side i guess?). it totally gives me headaches on long trips. i've diagnosed the car 3 times at bosch services and other services and the device showed no errors or malfunctions. the problem gets more severe after long running times and high revs. several mechanics told me various things like, it is okay nothing to worry with, injectors nozzles or valves may be corrupt, the timing belt system has to be replaced, gasket has to be replaced, eccentric shaft became unbalanced (really?)

  • Audi A3 2002 1.6 petrol misfire ? 24 Feb 2016 (Forum)
The only idea I have is a sticking valve. It can keep up at tickover, for the compression test, but not when the engine’s running…. A long shot, however, since the problem one of the tappets did tick for a few seconds when I started the engine one time. That hasn’t happened since I’ve owned the car, which is since 2012 and 100,000 miles ago.
  • 2004 1.6 Ford Focus Estate - 04 MK1 Focus - lumpy when pulling up 17 Feb 2016 (Forum)
Picked up my 04 Estate as a runabout whilst I took my Golf off the road last year. It's just about to hit 110k, runs fine, but I'm quite OCD regarding my cars running right.  I've noticed this problem appearing when pulling up to junctions or coming to a stop, there will be a judder, the revs will drop, it won't cut out...yet.
