  Previous car was a 2003 Picasso Hdi - loads of problems, including pump failure at 10K. (warranty covered this) Presently driving 2005 Mondeo TDCI (130bhp, Euro IV). No major problems (apart from gearbox out to lubricate splines on input shaft - as clutch not always disengaging) I usually buy a 6-9 month old car shortly after my existing vehicle gets its first MoT, so I'm looking at changing mid-2008.

  Hi everyone, grab a coffee, this could take a bit... I bought this car with 16k on the clock 11 months ago from a well known car supermarket. The car performed effortlessly and without a single issue until June this year (2012). On starting the car early in the morning, the 'STOP - Low oil Pressure' light came on.

  Also this wasn’t a new engine to Toyota, they had been using it on the Yaris Hybrid for a while.  Quite nippy having 111 hp. Had a sensible tyre/ wheel size (175/65 R15 I think). Good equipment levels. Good price, being a pre-reg car.

  The car I’m supposed to be getting is a 70k, 2015 Volvo XC60 SE LUX auto 2.4 D5 AWD. Full Volvo service history and comes with a 12 month Volvo Selekt unlimited mileage warranty. So the mechanic basically talked to me as if I’m crazy, why would I get rid of the Honda, and that Volvo are awful cars and I will have nothing but issues.

    Between one failure ( two days before expiry) and pass car had done 350 miles three weeks later.  Would appear to have been driven without MOT.  The one owner would appear to have neglected care as soon as out of warranty.  Definitely did not give the impression of someone I would want to buy a car from.

  Hi All, Bought a 2008 A3 last week, drives beautifully. FSH, 68k miles, really nice car. The bite point on the clutch however doesn't half seem close to the floor! I know it's a newer car than I'm used to, so I'm wondering if I'm worrying about nothing - I'd say it's 1.5 inches off the floor to bite point though, which seems really low.

  I'm tempted to sneak in interim oil and filter at every 10000 - where to get hold of correct spec diesel engine oil and Audi oil filter? Also seem to be trapped in Audi dealership for servicing to maintain warranty thru to 2009- any thoughts on risk / benefits of independent servicing? Interestingly this car has been used as a company car at Bently Crewe for 4 months only - surely a "VW-Audi" "arrangement" to get nearly new cars onto forecourt at greatly reduced prices (in this case nearly £10K off new price after fairly hard negotiation and cash offer) - can't conplain as it seems OK value to me at the price sold - why not be more honest about pricing structure?

  Hi All Once again, I seek your invaluable expert advice :-) About 9 months ago I had my car serviced by Vauxhall, and they replaced the front discs and pads. Although they worked, and stopped the car fine they where never as sharp as they used to be (pedal seems ?softer?) however I just put it down to a different brand of pads, however the car stops perfectly fine.

  Are there serious costs i could be looking at for servicing with this mileage? Should I buy an extended warranty? Are the smaller dealers that sell these cars reliable? Is there much room for negotiation on price? Should I get and HPI and AA check myself? Alternatively should i just lease a new car, although this looks complicated!?

  My wife's car bought used in June, auto, Vtec 60k miles. After a few weeks of ownership, started misfiring badly when starting from cold then usually runs okay. One occasion it was almost undriveable and she smelled burning.

  Hi, back in April I bought a 67 plate Jaguar XF Sportbrake S. Unfortunately I’ve had various problems with the car. The panoramic roof leaked so that was replaced under warranty. It now creaks unlike before. I’ve sent it back but garage said it’s ok. I expect the roof to be silent. Does anyone have issues with noise from their roof?

  the car was taking to the dealer under within a 3 month warranty..do I get the repairs done myself as I won't get anywhere with the timing belt situation or do I take it to court??help!!

  Anyway, I'm sure this is not so, but just to confirm I do NOT have to take servicing at the local dealer to maintain the warranty do I? so long as the work s done to exact standards and parts by a VAT reg'd garage (or something along those lines). I also did this with the little Micra. I only purchased local (Sunderland) to use the 20% family discount.

  Overall, we are very peased with the 2 cars and couldnt reccomend them highly enough. The 5 year warranty with the mileage we are likely to do is just perfect. BTW - anyone else with a small business that needs to supply pool vehicles, can I reccomend using B segment or smaller hatchbacks.

  Son owned a Diesel Toledo 1.9 130, nice enough car, but the heater matrix failed and the quite fantastically complicated job of stripping the entire dash assembly out which meant removing the front seats and centre console to gain access didn't endear it to either of us, replacing the standard radiator meant removing the entire front of the car too, CHG failure followed in short order...cheerio car at just over 100k.

  I would have to go for something a bit older, with quite possibly problems of its own. Or do I go for a brand new small car - like a Fiesta or similar, obviously superminis are out - and sacrifice boot space and 5 doors for a nice shiny brand spanker with 3 years warranty? Does anyone use a small car on a regular basis for a family car?

  bought an 09 range rover sport 3.6tdv8 at the end of november 2015 of a local car dealer  with 3 months warranty  and FSH ( supposedly !!)    so after about a week or two  i realise the FSH isint in the folder so i pop round the the dealer and ask where it is... sorry cant find it,  so im told to call back after xmas and we should have it sorted.

  Option 1: Put the money from the p/ex plus the same again into a deposit for an i-10 (with monthly payments of about £70 for 3 years). The thing that I like is, of course, the 5 year warranty and £35 tax and low insurance. So, overall spend of around £3500. But then car isn't ever really mine... It's really the only new car option that I can reasonably afford. Option 2: Stick said £3500 into a used car.
