The body/chassis appear to be quite sound and though the vendor does say that most parts are with the car, the vehicle must be considered to be incomplete. Estimate TBA. One unusual entry is the Black Cat mascot, said to be the first prototype of a redesigned mascot commissioned by William Lyons, chairman of SS Cars Ltd and latterly Jaguar Cars, in the 1950s. -

Mk1 Golf GTI 1.6 sells for £27,225 at Race Retro auction 26 Feb 2019 (News)
A Mk1 Volkswagen Golf GTi sold for £27,225 at the Race Retro sale. The 1979 example was a one-owner car with 53k on the clock. Fresh from 20 years of hibernation, the Mars Red example is an early example with the 1.6-litre engine. It was also fitted with a factory option black roof and still wears its original dealer-supplied numberplates.

An Aston Martin that was owned by a former British Touring Car Champion is heading to auction. The 1971 DB6 Mk2 Vantage Saloon belonged to racing driver, commentator, and TV personality John Cleland. It will go under the hammer at Silverstone Auctions’ sale on Saturday, 13 May.

Indian-built Standard 2000s began rolling off the Madras-based production line from 1985. There was enough capacity at the factory to build 4000 cars a year, but sadly the Standard 2000 wasn’t a success in its Indian homeland. With a list price of 212,000 rupees at its launch, it was hugely expensive for the time, and could only be afforded by the very wealthiest of car buyers.

Three iconic classics have been brought together to promote this year’s Cholmondeley Pageant of Power. The cars – a Lotus Evora GTE, Ferrari Testarossa, and Ford Mustang – neatly tie-up the event’s key themes . On Friday, CPOP will celebrate Lotus with a parade featuring an example of every Lotus ever made, including new models such as the Evora GTE. On Saturday, Cholmondeley will pay homage to the poster cars of the Eighties, such as the Ferrari Testarossa. And on Sunday, crowds will be treated to the rumbling sound of many V8s with a celebration of US muscle cars, including icons like the Ford Mustang GT 390. James Hall, event director said he was excited to be returning the pageant’s roots with a power-themed weekend across land, air and water. Hall said, ‘The great range of cars assembled here represent just a small selection of the varied content set to appear across the weekend.’ Organisers have also released a new video showing highlights on track, on the lake, in the air and on stage of the past seven years, giving a true feel for what the event is about.

One thing to be aware of, though – this is a Catagory D write off. That means that the car has accident damage and the insurance company deemed it uneconomical to repair. With cars of this age (and low value), however, that can often mean just light panel damage. The seller says it has been checked over, but you’ll need to satisfy yourself that the repair work has been done to a high standard.

His Daytona was delivered in the summer of 1971 and Sinn spent a month touring Europe in it before brining the car back to North America by boat. Over the next 18 years, he clocked up 55,000 miles. But when a family emergency called him away to Asia, he hid his Daytona in the corner of his condominium car park, put it up on bricks and threw a cover over it.

Le Mans’ classic spectacular 2 Jul 2014 (News)
The legendary circuit will once again be hosting this bi-annual highlight of the historic motorsport scene, with cars and competitors attending from around the globe, reuniting some of the biggest names to have competed at Le Mans. Only pre-1980 cars are allowed to race at the Le Mans Classic, via six separate classes covering the different eras, from 1923-39 (pre-war) through to 1972-79; and with a total of 450 racing machines taking part, spectators can look forward to three days of non-stop action.

Report: Gooding classic car auction, Arizona, 17-18 January 21 Jan 2014 (News)
It was the seventh annual sale at Scottsdale for Gooding, and the results include 11 new auction records, with six cars selling for more than $2m, and 13 making more than $1m. The top seller during the two-day extravaganza was a 1958 Ferrari 250GT Series 1 Cabriolet, which made $6,160,000. Gooding claims that this is a new auction record for a Ferrari 250GT Series 1 Cabriolet.
