  • Audi A4 TDI Quattro DSG - Hill Starts in an Auto - what am I doing wrong? 22 Oct 2013 (Forum)
It's an A4 177 TDi quattro with DSG, and as I started to move off when the traffic allowed, as i switched my right foot from brake to accelarator you could hear a small crunch from the automatic gearbox. I've never noticed this before, but having said that I don't recall having to do any "steep" type hillstarts since I purchased the car 6 months ago. I reverted to the manual method of engaging the EPD and then then transferring to the power when I needed to move again, this still caused a few crunching noises.

  • BMW 7 Series - BMW E65 730d - Door won't close - Door lock help 17 Apr 2013 (Forum)
I don't mind losing soft close if I can save a tonne of money. "For vehicles with Comfort access and Soft-Close-Automatic doors S322A=Yes S323A=Yes 06 Lock, complete, front right SCA/PA 1 01/2003 51217202120 only in conjunction with Pos. 7" This is the part. Any idea if I can downgrade to 51217202130 instead, i.e. use the 'door complete lock with comfort access but without soft close' instead?
  • Nissan Qashqai (2007 - ) - Forum Members Views 27 Feb 2013 (Forum)
Being rather disillusioned with my 2007 Honda CRV (Sport) which has quietly been driving me bonkers, I have been looking at various SUV type vehicles to get some idea of what I could replace it with. Although I have had Honda CRV's since 1997, (four automatics) I get the impression with my current CRV that it is in charge of me, rather than the other way round! Having said that, I must admit the drive is very smooth and a great improvement on previous models.
  • Mitsubishi Outlander - Moving to Switzerland - Mitsubishi Outlander CVT 22 Oct 2012 (Forum)
So, we need: - 4 x4 - spacious / family sized (boot on Skoda Yeti too small, for example) - automatic - safe (NCAP 4 star min, but ideally 5) - new / up to 2 years old We'll mainly be doing short journies and, whilst I've enjoyed the torque of my current diesel auto, I don't think this will be a wise choice for the kind of driving we'll be doing in CH.

  • Hyundai Santa Fe - Chances in small claims court 12 May 2012 (Forum)
They have said the gearbox will need to be replaced and this will cost £2850 inc. Is this something I could take under the consumers rights act as I am sure a automatic gearbox should last at least 4 times the amount of miles I have done
  • mini roundabout rules 23 Apr 2012 (Forum)
I know its a bit give and take sometimes but I find in the above scenario as soon as i let one car in a string of them who all want to go north to west automatically presume its their right of way.   Its as if they believe that you must give way to someone turning right.   I'm not an impatient driver, or aggressive.  I would just like to know if there is a fixed rule.

  • MkII DCi - Scenic - Parking brake fault after pads changed! 20 Jan 2012 (Forum)
Parking brake functioning perfectly, as always. Will hold fine on a hill, will auto-release etc, and apply automatically when engine turned off The garage took the car to main dealer, who charged £55 to hook it up to attempt to clear the indication, which they were unable to do!  Their diagnostics suggested some kind of "voltage issue", and didn't know where to go next.

  • Vauxhall Corsa C (2005) 1.2 SXI - EML on and loosing power! HELP PLEASE? 30 Jan 2011 (Forum)
The car no longer blows white smoke but still does not drive correctly and the engine managament light still comes on. I can't take it on the motorway as it just automatically goes into limp home mode. I have since had various other parts replaced and checked :- Engine Loom, Inlet manifold, injectors, crank sensor, fuel filter, fuel pump, fuel tank, airflow meter, throttle body and the throttle pedal.
  • Honda Accord UK (1998 - 2003) - 00 2.0 Cold Start Fast Idle Problem 4 Dec 2010 (Forum)
X Reg 2.0 Honda Accord Executive SE (Auto) 64K Miles On a Cold start it fast idles at just over 1000RPM (which i gather would be normal to do with an automatic choke) After about 5 mins driving, once car warms up a bit it does the following: - when stationary idle stays at 1000RPM, no matter how long been driven for, while stationary and placed in neutral or park, engine starts to hunt.
