Skoda Fabia vRS Estate (2010-) 19 Jun 2016 (News)
It’s fitted with a system called XDS as standard which acts like an electronic differential. Basically it improves cornering by slightly braking the inside front wheel when accelerating through corners, transferring power to the outside wheel. The result is that you don’t need as much steering turn in corners and the vRS is keen when tackling tight corners. -

A Grand Monday: Mk1 Toyota MR2, £850 14 Mar 2016 (News)
Although it had a full MoT before it was garaged, the potential purchaser will still have to make sure it’s recommissioned properly – brakes checked, fluids refreshed, and new filters. According to the advert, the cambelt was changed before the car was garaged. Make sure you see evidence of this and remember – you may even want to budget to do it again as we’re pretty sure it’s a seven year/70k interval. -

Triumph milestones to be celebrated at Silverstone Classic 30 Apr 2015 (News)
When released in 1955, the Triumph TR3 was a considerable progression from the previous TR2. Most notably, perhaps, it was the first British series production car to feature disc brakes, technology that we all now take for granted. Historic racers wow Race Retro crowds 22 Feb 2015 (News)
A gun synchroniser take-off is fitted to the front of the engine to stop the propellor shooting off. Like many veteran motors it only has rear cable brakes, and its top speed is limited to 120mph by drivetrain ratios. A significant event at the start of the show was the unveiling of the Steady Special - a tribute to much-loved motoring writer Ronald ‘Steady’ Barker, who died recently. Shortly after the end of the Second World War, the Vintage Sports Car Club and Lancia OC President transformed the 3-litre 1934 Lancia Astura into a two-seater racer. -
Celebrate 30 years of the Sinclair C5 2 Jan 2015 (News)

The design of the three-wheeled backbone chassis, constructed from steel, had been extensively developed by sports-car experts Lotus Cars. An electric motor powered the left-hand rear wheel, helping the C5 to reach 15mph – its top speed, as restricted by law. -

Three outstanding efforts today show that there is now a spring in our steps as we all race for the European Trophy – the cups for best Vintageant and best Classic in the section from Kiev to Paris. -
Report: Peking to Paris, day 15 11 Jun 2013 (News)
Tony and Lee Strelzow in the Bentley drophead, currently 13th in the Vintageants, had another puncture today, and were helped by local truck-drivers as their jack is proving to be useless, and is now running new springs, adapted from a military Jeep, after an all-night session in a workshop in Novosibirsk. They are running slowly as the front brakes are not working properly, and there appears to be no reason why. The local motor-federation have performed a great service in assisting the event, not just with guiding Kim Bannister’s route-planning work, including more off-road Time Trial sections than any previous visit to Russia, but also in the back up – their own mechanics sweep through the route to help the fallen. -
